Chapter 220: Sacrifice (4)

Chapter 220: Sacrifice (4)

"Huh? What is this place?" The demon said when he had fully formed.

In response, the middle aged man said, "My lord, we have sacrificed these offerings to summon you to bestow your grace upon us."

There was no hesitation in the middle aged man’s voice as he said this while bowing his head.

It was just that the demon didn’t seem interested in what he was saying at all.

After the demon had finished surveying the area, he just ignored what the middle aged man was saying.

Instead, he turned to look at me before saying, "What are you doing here?"

The middle aged man froze the moment that he said this before looking up with a dazed look.

In response to this, I just said with a faint smile, "Well, things just turned out like this. To be honest, I didn’t expect to see you here either."

The two of us both looked at each other with faint smiles.

After all, we recognized each other the moment that we saw each other.

Even if we didn’t see each other, it would have been easy for us to recognize each other.

We were the same person in the end.

The demon that these cultists had summoned was the demon king, Val Zahar.

In other words, the demons that the cultists had summoned was the other me, my demon king avatar.

Since it was the demon king avatar, it wasn’t as if it would do anything to me.

Instead of paying any attention to the middle aged man who was still standing there in a daze, the two of us made our way over to the altar to take a closer look at it. At the same time, all of the cultists just had no idea what was happening that they couldn’t do anything to stop me.

This was an altar that could even summon the demon king Val Zahar, so this clearly wasn’t a normal altar.

After looking at it for a bit, I suddenly said, "It seems like it uses some kind of special array to convert the blood of the sacrifices into a form of energy that powers some kind of array that can summon things."

"That’s what I got from this too, but neither of us are experts when it comes to this. If we really want to know more about this altar, we would need to send it to Faust to study it.’

I nodded in agreement to this, but I didn’t get to say anything in the end as the middle aged man cut in.

"My lord, what is this? Please take care of this heretic who tried to defile..."

The middle aged man didn’t even get to finish his words as he was suddenly cut by the dark energy blade that Val Zahar sent out. His eyes were filled with disbelief when he fell to the ground in a pool of his own blood.

The other cultists all looked on in shock as if they couldn’t believe what was happening before bowing their heads as if they were praying to Val Zahar.

It didn’t seem like they were planning to run, they were just praying as if they thought that this would save them.

Seeing them act like this, the two of us were a bit speechless.

"It seems that cultists really are cultists, their faith really is hard to shatter."

"Do you want me to handle them?"

"No, I’ll do it. It’ll make more sense for those that come to search this place if they find demonic energy."

I didn’t say anything as I just nodded in agreement.

Raising his hand, he gathered dark energy that was just like the blade that he used previously.

When the cultists saw this, one of them couldn’t help saying, "My lord, we’ve done nothing but worship you? Please reward us for our faith."

But in the end, there was no reward.

Val Zahar just ignored this one person that was begging for a reward and waved his hand at them. With this one wave of his hand, there were many blades of demon energy that flew out at the cultists.

Some of them accepted their deaths while others stood up in an attempt to run.

But in the end, there wasn’t a single person that was able to run.

In the end, all of them were cut to pieces by the demon energy blades.

However, when they fell like this, the blood that they released was all gathered by the altar.

"Shit." That was all the two of us could say when we saw this before preparing for whatever came next.

It was just that what we thought would happen didn’t happen in the end.

Instead of this energy gathering and summoning another demon, Val Zahar suddenly said, "It feels like I’m getting stronger?"

I looked at him before looking at my own stats.

It seemed that this was indeed the case as all of our shared stats were increasing.

"Isn’t this too little though?"

Val Zahar thought about it before closing his eyes as if he was sensing something.

When he opened his eyes again, he said, "It seems like there’s not a perfect connection. Some of the energy is being used up in the transfer...Well, not just some of it, it’s quite a large amount that’s being used for the transfer."

"Are you sure that’s the only reason?" I couldn’t help asking.

"I don’t know." Val Zahar said with a shake of his head before saying, "From what I can tell, it seems like this is the case. But unless I get into this altar and see everything inside, I won’t be able to tell."

"So why is it linked to you?"

"I don’t know."

The two of us just started at the altar with confused looks on our faces for a while.

But in the end, I went over and picked it up before saying, "I’ll bring it over to Faust and have him study it."

Val Zahar just gave a nod in response without saying anything.
