Chapter 2387: Always Ready.
While the half god was thinking of about his unlucky situation, someone had come to speak with the angel of killing in the forest.
The person that came to speak was an unassuming woman with bright blue hair and was wearing a large blue robe.
The blue robe she was wearing was too big for her, so it hung loosely around her body. This made her look like a child wearing an adult’s clothes.
She stood in the air above the forest while looking around. She didn’t have to look for long to find the angel of killing.
The angel of killing was a short tree with black trunks and branches. But the leaves of the tree were blood red.
The angel of killing was so unassuming that if not for her spiritual sight, she wouldn’t have noticed him.
His current situation looked similar to hers. The tree was small in a forest full of large trees. So it looked like a weak tree in a forest of giants. No one would have thought that the small, weak tree was the overlord of the forest. This amused her.
She smiled as she said, "I thought you would be a big tree. I guess appearance can be deceiving."
The tree replied, "If you want to fight, just say so. There is no need to rile me up by insulting me."
His reaction only made her more amused. She said, "You killers only know about fighting and killing. It is the major reason why there is no godling or god in your pathway."
The angel of killing urged her, "Are you going to fight or not? If not, leave my presence before I force you to fight."
At this point, she couldn’t be amused anymore. As a noble, she had her self-respect, and it was pretty high. The constant challenge to fight felt like a challenge to her pride.
She furrowed her brows and asked, "Why are you so eager to fight? You are not even complete."
He replied with determination, "Being able to fight is not about being physically ready to fight. It is about always being mentally prepared to fight. I am currently mentally prepared to fight and kill you. I am mentally prepared to fight and kill anyone."
After speaking with determination, he sneered and said, "Besides, this is just your avatar. No matter how incomplete I am, I am sure that I can fight and kill it. I haven’t yet fallen so low that I couldn’t kill a mere avatar."
She snorted and said, "Well, tough luck. I’m not here to fight you. I’m here to ask you to join the royal family of the kingdom of Wessex."
He asked her, "Let’s not waste each other’s time. What do I gain, and what do I have to do to get this benefit?"
She replied, "The greatest benefit is that we will help you resist the church of justice. What you have to pay for that help is that you will also help us fight the church of justice."
He thought about it for two seconds before saying, "I’m in."
His reply made her smile. She said, "You have made the correct decision."
He wasn’t as optimistic about his decision as she was. His emotions were still calm as he said, "I hope so. Then again, if I have reasons to regret my decision, there will be hell to pay."
He was threatening her, but she didn’t mind. He might be a killer and is very dangerous, but he was just one person, while she had the whole royal family of the kingdom of Wessex in her support.
She ignored his threat and said to him, "We have a plan. This is what you need to do."
While the two of them were scheming, the remnant of the church of justice in the kingdom of Wessex was at the border of the kingdom. They had one foot in and the other foot out of the kingdom.
After fighting for so long and losing so much, they didn’t want to quit now. They didn’t want to give up even though they had been pushed to the limit.
They were determined to do everything they could do before giving up and retreating for good. This was why they still remained at the border.
They were waiting at the border for something. What they were waiting for was reinforcements from the headquarters of the Church of Justice.
This reinforcement could help them turn the tide of defeat and return to Wessex. If not, then they will give up and retreat.
The judges and the lamp bearers didn’t like their current situation. The one most incensed about everything was Isaac.
Isaac still couldn’t believe that they had lost so quickly and so thoroughly. Of course he knows why it happened. He just has a problem accepting that it had happened.
What happened was that a legendary noble joined the fight. Even now, the memory of what happened still haunts him.
The nobles were already winning after rallying the full power and resources of the entire kingdom against them. This was after he killed one of their armies down to the last man.
That defeat had spurred the complacent nobles into action. They came at the judges with everything they had, including legends.
It had been said that a single legendary noble was capable of killing an entire army of judges on their own. It is said that a legendary noble can turn the entire world against their enemies.
He had witnessed such a thing, so he knew with the uttermost certainty that it was true. What’s more, he can confirm that legendary nobles can indeed wipe out a whole army in a few seconds.
He was powerful, but the best he could do was preserve his life. Even then, he only escaped with injuries.
Despite his strength, he couldn’t save anyone. He couldn’t even save his mount. His armored rhino couldn’t make it. It had died together with the thousands of people he went to battle with.
