Chapter 2386: Envy For Undying.
Killing an undying godclad five times in a row is already hard enough. But it becomes harder because one will get weaker and exhausted as they fight and kill the undying godclad over and over again.
It is entirely possible that the person who wants to kill an undying legend will get tired and be exhausted before they can kill the legendary undying completely. This is something that has happened before.
But if that legendary undying is killed only four times out of five and manages to escape, that legendary undying will slowly recover their spring of life over time and will acquire new extra lives.
So if the legendary undying is given time to recover, they will recover all of the lives they spent to resurrect. One would have to start all over again in order to kill them.
With this kind of ability, one can imagine why many people, including him, are envious of undying godclads.
He said with great longing, "If I had that Refresh and Rewind divine ability, then I wouldn’t be in this dire situation. In fact, I would never be a vagrant soul. The god of justice wouldn’t have been able to kill me and make me a refugee."
He can only wish now that he had also been an undying godclad before his main body died. It is too late to do anything about it now.
So he said, "Then again, if I had had two pathways and was the god of two pathways, I might have lost control even earlier."
He said that to console himself, but there is some truth to it.
There are pros and cons to having more than one pathway. The pro is having more divine abilities and powers. The con is an increased likelihood of losing control.
He only had one pathway and still lost control. The main reason for that was because he had pursued strength too much and too fast.
Even so, it was still just one pathway that pushed him over the edge. What happened to him was so bad that after he was defeated, the god of justice willingly crippled himself and gave up the authority of the pathway of knights.
Many people don’t know that the god of justice has given up on the pathway of knights, but he knows this because he has fought with the god of justice since the death of his main body.
To be exact, it was his other souls that fought with the god of justice and acquired that secret information at the cost of their lives. But one thing that he didn’t need to risk his life to learn is that many gods took his experience as a lesson in not being greedy for power.
Being the way he was, if he had two pathways, his greediness for paper would have surely made him lose control much faster than he did with one pathway.
He shrugged and said, "Not that I could have become the god of the pathway of undying anyway. No one has managed that even though there are many angels and godlings in that pathway."
The godclads of the undying pathway live very long lives. They have eternal lives and are very difficult to kill.
The fact that they don’t have any means to attack others also means that they rarely fight others and put their lives in danger.
Most of them just hide away. They rarely risk their eternal lives for anything. It just isn’t worth the risk for them.
If they have a dispute with someone, they would rather wait until the person dies. They bet that they can outlive their enemy. This is a bet they almost always win.
This situation of theirs means that as long as they reach the legendary rank, it is only a matter of time for them to become angels. Since they rarely fight, they don’t have enemies and are rarely killed.
Many of the angels of the undying have even managed to become godlings with their innate ability. But no one has been able to become an undying because the authority of their pathway is very difficult to catch.
In fact, from what he has heard, it is nearly impossible to touch the authority of the pathway of undying. He also heard that the authority of the pathway of undying likes to roam around the world killing people.
An authority roaming the world and killing people is not a strange thing to hear. Many authorities do that.
The authorities of pathways are sentient to a certain extent, just like divine flesh. But unlike divine flesh, the authorities of pathways can use their ultimate ability.
The ultimate ability of the authority of undying is why no one from the pathway of undying has been able to catch it and refine it to become a god.
As someone who knows how difficult it is to kill an undying godling despite being the infamous god of killing, he can say with certainty that there was no way he would have been able to catch the Authority of the pathway of undying even if he was also an undying godclad before he died.
He was already the god of killing with an ultimate ability of the pathway of killing, yet he had to work hard for hours to kill an undying godling.
That was absurd because he usually killed people with a touch. But he had to touch that undying godclad many times before he could kill it.
His ultimate divine ability had been less than helpful in killing that undying godclad. If he didn’t have the Bleed divine ability to stunt the regeneration of the undying godling, he doubts he would have been able to kill her.
After experiencing such a difficulty, he doubts that he would have been able to capture something with the ultimate ability of the pathway of undying.
So even if he were an undying godclad in the past, that pathway would have been a dead end for him just like every other undying godclads in existence.
