Chapter 268: Chapter 268: She Is Still Alive
Harry Hunter glanced at the people in the hospital room; besides the doctors and nurses, there was the CEO’s secretary and a man with glasses, presumably Cherry Lewis’s lawyer.
"If the Lewis Family wants to go to court, I’ll be there. Tell Cherry that changing the will is impossible. She should just give up and sit quietly in prison, and I’ll offer the Lewis Family a lifeline."
The lawyer spoke with forced bravado, "Miss Lewis is the rightful and legal heir to Moonlight. The will was originally intended to leave all assets to her, but after meeting Miss Weaver once, the will was changed, and coincidentally the CEO fell into a coma. There must be conspiracy involved. I’m merely retrieving what’s rightfully hers on her behalf."
Harry Hunter’s voice was cold and imperious, "It doesn’t belong to her now; it belongs to my wife. You can get out!"
The lawyer knew the Hunter Family’s legal team was extremely powerful and dared not confront Harry head-on, so he slinked out in defeat.
Following him, the doctors and nurses were scolded and hurriedly left the room.
The secretary looked at Harry Hunter’s fierce demeanor, just about to express gratitude, when she heard Harry coldly say, "You get out too! You couldn’t even protect your CEO—useless! You’re losing your salary and bonus for this month!"
The secretary’s mouth dropped wide open in surprise!
She had never seen someone act so brazenly righteous while overstepping like this!
She wasn’t even his secretary!
Isabella Weaver hurriedly spoke, "Secretary Clarke has been diligently looking after the CEO. Today’s incident isn’t her fault. She couldn’t stop Cherry. I’m here now; Secretary Clarke, you should go rest for a while. You haven’t slept all night!"
Secretary Clarke nodded gratefully, feeling intimidated by Harry Hunter and finding Isabella Weaver more understanding.
Upon leaving the room and closing the door, she saw Cherry Lewis still standing outside, her gaze icy, and couldn’t help but speak, "Miss Lewis, you should go back. Even if the CEO wakes up, he won’t change the will. The Lewis Family doesn’t lack that bit of money; you should stop contesting for Moonlight."
Cherry Lewis laughed coldly, "Secretary Clarke, you didn’t treat me this way before. Have you now become Isabella Weaver’s lapdog?"
Secretary Clarke flushed with anger, "You!"
"Secretary Clarke is wealthy enough not to care about tens of billions, but I do care—this isn’t a small sum to the Lewis Family. Moonlight is rightfully mine; even if it’s worthless, it must still be mine!"
If it were someone else contesting with her, perhaps she’d relent if feeling generous.
But the one contesting for Moonlight is Isabella Weaver!
Cherry Lewis approached Secretary Clarke, her tone chilling, "Did you see that? That man was mine before Isabella Weaver snatched him away! From now on, anything Isabella Weaver sets her eyes on, I’ll take it! Secretary Clarke, you’d better stand on my side, or else..."
A doctor passed by in the hallway, causing Cherry Lewis to quickly mask her expression and leave with the lawyer.
Secretary Clarke’s face turned from red to white, shocked at Cherry Lewis’s frightening nature. She had portrayed herself so well in front of the CEO before! All of it had been an act!
...
In the evening, the sky was painted red by the sunset, stunningly beautiful.
Isabella Weaver held a DNA report, her fingertips trembling as she grasped the hand of the person on the bed, her expression hollow, her voice heavy with sorrow, "Why won’t you recognize me? Why did you hide from me? I almost missed it!"
Her mother was actually still alive!
But it seemed she wouldn’t live much longer.
Did Christopher Weaver know she was still alive?
Her face was ruined; she had changed her appearance, created Moonlight—was it for revenge?
