Chapter 197: Pamper Husband

Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Pamper Husband

Fransisca smiled sarcastically at her stepsister, who was becoming increasingly outrageous in her eyes. She closed the leather folder and folded her arms, moving her chair around. In reality, she was still angry at the couple’s daring deception two days ago, which had instantly shattered her self-esteem. However, she didn’t want to show her anger now, as it would only weaken her.

"If you dare say such things, you should show me the evidence you have first. Isn’t it unethical for you to accuse me carelessly?"

"If it has to do with Matthias, I will definitely not give up looking for evidence so that you can no longer live in peace!"

"Go ahead and search for proof until you give up. I’m sure you won’t be able to prove it because you lose your mind every time something bad happens to your husband!"

"If I manage to find all the evidence, you’ll have to admit to all your wrongdoings. Starting with the accident two years ago."

"I suggest you focus on your work. It’s not good to keep meddling in my affairs!"

Eventually, Victoria walked quickly out of the room, her breath becoming increasingly labored. She continued to hold her trembling legs, terrified of facing a killer who wanted to kill her and Matthias.

Victoria had deliberately spoken loudly enough for Lena to hear. The only way to gather evidence was to have Lena witness the truth. But could she get Lena to confess? She desperately hoped Lena would become her ally.

She smiled kindly at Lena, moving her lips closer to her ear. "Lena, I suggest you think about this carefully. If you stay by Fransisca’s side, will you be able to live in peace forever? Did she promise to make your family happy?"

"By the way, there’s actually a lot I want to tell you. Can you meet me tomorrow night?"

Victoria furrowed her eyebrows. "Could it be that you actually want to—"

"I can’t tell you the truth. What’s certain is that I want us to meet tomorrow night. If you miss it, you’ll regret it."

"Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow night. But you have to keep your promise."

Victoria still felt something was off. Why did Lena suddenly want to tell her such an important thing when she’d always kept quiet? Had Fransisca actually threatened her? But could Lena be trusted? What if this was just a trap set by Fransisca?

Now she wanted to banish her negative thoughts. She had promised to be Matthias’s assistant while he was still recovering. Before visiting Matthias, she stopped by the bakery to buy his favorite brownies and cupcakes.

As she entered the executive suite, her eyes widened as she stared at Marcel, who seemed overwhelmed by his stubborn boss. Marcel continued to complain as he held up a bowl of porridge. Victoria could only watch the ridiculous interaction between boss and assistant from a distance.

"Matthias, if you continue to be stubborn like this, your wife will scold me!"

Matthias took a deep breath. "I’ve told you so many times! I’m tired of porridge, especially hospital porridge."

"But, the doctor said you can’t eat solid food yet. You just had surgery."

For a moment, his gaze fell on his sweet wife. "Maybe I’d have an appetite if my wife were the one feeding me."

Marcel turned around and ran to his employer’s wife with a pleading face. "I’m tired of taking care of your childish husband. He hasn’t wanted to eat his porridge for a while."

Victoria patted Marcel’s shoulder reassuringly. "Looks like I’ll have to take over your duties now. You can go back to the office."

"Judging by his behavior while you were at the office, he really missed you. He kept talking about you."

"I already knew that, actually. That’s why, after I finished all my business at the office, I came straight here."

"Okay, then I’ll be back now. Thank you for saving me."

"Thank you also for taking care of my husband while I’m at the office. Don’t worry, I can definitely tame him."

Marcel immediately left the executive suite quickly before his employer made things even more difficult for him.

Now, only the husband and wife remained in the room. They exchanged happy smiles from afar, expressing the longing they had been harboring for half a day.

Spontaneously, Victoria sat down in the chair next to the bed. She took the bowl of porridge that the handsome CEO had not yet eaten.

"Matthias, is it true that you don’t want to eat because you don’t like hospital porridge?"

Matthias smiled mischievously and patted the bed, shifting his body. "I want you to sit here. I really miss you."

Victoria immediately complied with her husband’s wishes. She sat down next to him and put her arm around his shoulders. "I’m already sitting here, you should finish your porridge now."

"My purpose in telling you to sit here is so you can feed me porridge easily."

"So, it can be said that you really want to pamper me, not that you don’t like hospital porridge!"

Matthias burst out laughing. "I think I’m getting hungry. I want to eat now."

"I actually suspected that you had been holding back your hunger so that you could enjoy my food." Victoria quickly shoved a spoonful of porridge into her chatty husband’s mouth. "Then you have to finish this porridge! I bought your favorite brownies and cupcakes."

"Really? I just happen to be craving brownies and cupcakes right now."

"But, you have to finish the porridge first! Even though it’s bland, you still have to finish it so you can get better soon!"

"Don’t worry, the porridge won’t taste bland if you feed it to me." Matthias kissed her lips briefly. "Plus, the taste of your lips makes me want to eat."

"Actually, I hope you get well soon so we can resolve all our problems quickly. I also want to tell you something important."

Matthias furrowed his eyebrows. "What important thing?"

"Lena wants to meet me tomorrow night. She said she has a lot to tell me."
