Chapter 186: The Chronology of Accident

Chapter 186: Chapter 186: The Chronology of Accident

On the day of the accident, Victoria was already preparing to visit Matthias’s residence. She had already dressed up and put on the dress Matthias had bought her. Today was supposed to be the day she was to move into the luxurious mansion. She had already decided to run away with Matthias after their marriage was disapproved by both families.

Victoria had just finished packing all her things. Just as she was about to leave her apartment, Fransisca suddenly visited her, surprising her a little, as it was unusual for her stepsister to visit her on a holiday.

"Fransisca, what is your real purpose for coming to me all of a sudden?"

Fransisca put on a pleading face as she held her stepsister’s hand. "Can I talk to you for a moment?"

Victoria nodded nervously, then invited her stepsister to sit on the living room sofa. She was forced to postpone her date with Matthias. She hadn’t had a chance to tell him this since waking up. She had actually wanted to surprise Matthias right then and there.

"By the way, what did you want to talk to me about today?"

Fransisca sighed sharply. "Actually, I wanted to tell you some bad news. It seems like since you still want to marry Matthias, my mother won’t just sit back and do nothing."

"What do you mean?"

"I don’t really know what she’s planning with your mother-in-law. What’s certain is that you’ll likely be kicked out of this family if you plan to run away with Matthias."

Victoria lifted the corners of her lips confidently. "Isn’t that a good thing? Then I’ll still be Matthias’s wife."

"But haven’t you thought about what Matthias’s fate will be? Have you really not considered how his mother treats him at the company? Aren’t you afraid he’ll be fired from his position?"

"Fransisca, now I want to ask you a question. Is Matthias your husband?"

"What?"

"In fact, I’m Matthias’s wife. I have the right to worry about him. You’re just my half-sister. You have no right to interfere in our affairs."

Fransisca clenched her fists tightly. "But, as his sister-in-law, I have the right to care about him!"

"You’re not his sister-in-law either. Your mother’s already planning to kick us out. Soon, he and I will be going somewhere where you won’t be able to find us."

"Do you have to go this far? Don’t you want your position in the company?"

"Of course, I still haven’t forgotten that incident. However, I continue to pray for my father’s recovery so that the position won’t be given to anyone else, including me."

"You’re quite the selfish woman, Victoria. You’ve already secured Matthias, and now you’re still aiming for your position in the company. Shouldn’t you sacrifice one of them?"

"Of course, I won’t give your mother the position that easily. She doesn’t deserve it." Victoria stood up from the sofa for a moment. "My time is up now. I’m going to visit Matthias first."

In fact, on the way to Matthias’s residence, she felt as if someone was following her. So, she accelerated to avoid the mysterious vehicle. As she was passing along a relatively deserted road, a truck suddenly struck her sedan, completely destroying it.

Despite the force of the truck’s impact, she was still able to open her eyes. Her vision was blurry from the blood loss. She could only stare at the figure of a mysterious woman in green heels watching the incident from a distance. Then, the woman approached her car and retrieved her cell phone.

Eventually, Victoria managed to remember the accident in greater detail than before, thanks to her nightmare. She stared at her husband with a terrified expression and then hugged him tightly.

"Tory, what’s wrong with you?" Matthias stroked his wife’s head slowly.

"It’s just that my head hurts so much right now."

"Do you want to go home now? I can drive you home."

Victoria shook her head slowly. "It’s okay. It’s a side effect of me telling you about my dark past. By the way, do you still have the chat I sent you back then?"

"Strangely, when I wanted to read the chat again, your message was suddenly deleted."

Victoria snapped her fingers and revealed a sly smile. "I think I already know the answer."

"What answer?" Matthias furrowed his brows. "Do you think you want to solve this problem alone again?"

"No. This time I won’t do anything stupid. What’s certain is that thanks to you providing that crucial clue, I know who the real villain is."

Matthias patted his wife’s back rhythmically. "If you need my help, don’t hesitate to do so. Protecting you is my number one priority."

"But, I just want to ask you one thing."

"What matters?"

In fact, Victoria hadn’t yet told Matthias her true plans regarding her visit to the detention center after lunch. She had deliberately kept it quiet, not even mentioning this important information to Ansel. She knew Ansel would immediately report it to Matthias.

Even though she hadn’t seen Gianna for only a few days, she now looked incredibly disheveled. Normally, Gianna was a perfectionist when it came to her appearance, but now she looked like a homeless person.

Victoria felt like laughing with satisfaction, seeing her greatest enemy now helpless. She crossed her legs arrogantly and stared at the luxurious watch on her left wrist.

"You shameless child! Why did you suddenly come to visit me? Are you going to mock me after seeing me so broken?!"

Victoria smiled sarcastically, folding her arms. "Shouldn’t you be thanking me now for my kind intentions in visiting you?"

"I’m pretty sure you’re visiting me now because you want to take advantage of me!"

Victoria’s expression returned to seriousness. She leaned her head closer to her stepmother’s face. "Now I have a question for you. Do you still want to defend your daughter?"

"What do you mean?"

"Aren’t you now abandoned by your own child? Now I want to make a deal with you."
