Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Celebrate With Amber
The day before his wedding to Amber, Matthias was in a cheerful mood, having resolved all his misunderstandings with Victoria. He was even able to communicate with Victoria throughout the day, before facing the real battlefield tomorrow. Because only Victoria could comfort him.
As evening approached, Matthias decided not to communicate with Victoria, worried that Amber would discover his true intentions. Now Matthias was back to acting like a good husband, even though his patience with the insatiable and selfish woman was running out.
Matthias invited Amber to a romantic dinner at her favorite restaurant. He wanted to end things quickly before he was completely trapped in an unwanted marriage. Staring at Amber’s constant smile, Matthias forced a smile, even though he really wanted to have dinner with his wife.
"Matthias, I still can’t believe we’re actually getting married tomorrow. We were just friends before. I remember when we first became friends. You looked innocent, but you also looked very arrogant. I was the only one who was the most patient with you."
Matthias cut a steak by himself. "I’m actually still surprised because I’ve only thought of you as a friend. But tomorrow we’ll be husband and wife."
Amber put her fork and knife down on the table for a moment and rested her chin on her palm. "Actually, I’m still curious. Why don’t you want us to stay in your luxurious house? Don’t I have the right to live there?"
"Because I really don’t want to live there. I’m going to sell the house because I don’t want us to live in a house that leaves so many bad memories for me."
"What bad memories?" Amber’s eyes widened. "Could it be that you’ve been asking Victoria out to your house all this time!"
"You could say that. That’s why I don’t want to remember it anymore. Ever since she and I broke up, I’ve forgotten everything." Matthias exhaled sharply. "That’s why I don’t want to live in a house with so many bad memories. I’ll always be reminded of those past memories."
"Okay, if you still want to stay at your family’s house, I won’t stop you. Besides, I’m really sick of Victoria bothering us all the time."
"If I may ask, why do you hate her so much? Wasn’t your relationship fine when you first met?"
Amber smiled sarcastically as she sipped her wine gracefully. "Because I don’t like her constant hypocrisy in front of you. She deliberately acts sweet so you’ll fall for her. That’s why you accidentally got her pregnant because she set you up!"
Matthias actually wanted to laugh out loud because what Amber thought was so different from the truth. Therefore, he really didn’t want to forgive Amber for recklessly slandering Victoria. However, for now, he could only pretend to be Amber’s future husband.
"I’ve forgotten all the wrongs I did to her before. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have reminded you of all those things."
Amber smiled sarcastically, getting up from the chair and sitting on her future husband’s thigh, slowly groping his chest. "Okay, I’ll forgive you even if our first night tomorrow seems really boring for you." She pressed her lips to Matthias’ ear. "I’ve bought a lot of lingerie for tomorrow and our honeymoon. I’m sure you’ll forget Victoria completely."
"Don’t worry. After we get married, I won’t look for her anymore. Besides, I’m already over her now."
"You have to promise that you won’t be friends with her either."
"But, she and I have to meet during work."
"Anyway, I don’t want you and her to get back together. It’s so annoying to imagine your relationship being too sweet, even though I’m your wife!"

Although Matthias confidently claimed he had completely forgotten Victoria, his actions were far from what he had said. He couldn’t sleep again, still unaccustomed to sleeping alone in his room. He finally decided to call his wife, but his mother suddenly entered the room. He was forced to postpone communicating with his wife.
"Matthias, are you still awake?"
"I can’t sleep, Mom."
Lucretia sat on the edge of the bed with her son. "Are you sure you can handle your wedding tomorrow?"
"Actually, I’ve been planning something for tomorrow for a long time." Matthias patted his mother’s hand gently. "Mom, you don’t have to worry. Victoria and I are still in a good relationship now."
Lucretia’s smile widened. "Really? Then, will she be attending your wedding tomorrow?"
"Amber invited her on purpose to provoke her. But I invited her for another reason. I simply wanted Victoria to receive my surprise gift."
"But you shouldn’t be too hasty. If you’re too sweet to Victoria, Gianna won’t forgive you for deceiving her."
"Don’t worry, Mom. Have you forgotten that when I plan something, I always take the risks?"
"I just wanted to remind you. Because your wedding tomorrow is one of the main factors in determining whether you’ll return to Victoria or not."
After speaking with his mother, Matthias was finally able to communicate with his wife as much as he wanted. He immediately dialed her name, and within five seconds, the call was connected.
"Victoria, are you still awake?"
"Of course. I haven’t been able to sleep since earlier. I even went swimming earlier to calm my mind."
Matthias glanced at the clock on the wall for a moment, which was almost ten at night. "Why are you swimming at night? You’ll catch a cold."
"I knew you’d scold me like usual. I really like how you always scold me for being stubborn."
"Hearing you swim alone at night, I miss swimming with you."
"Actually, when I was swimming, I missed you even more. That’s why I only swam for a short while."
"Did Ansel give you the dress today?"
"I’ve received it. At first, I thought he bought it for me. But he immediately clarified that you were the one who entrusted the dress to him."
"Even though you will be attending as an invited guest tomorrow, I still want my wife to look more beautiful than my future bride."
