Chapter 151: Chapter 151: End Up The Relationship
Is this what revenge is? Why is her husband suddenly acting cruel, even though he has always loved her so much? What is going through the mind of this loving husband who now wants to end their relationship? Is he being threatened? However, if he is, asking to end the relationship is completely unreasonable. Hearing those hurtful words makes her breathless now.
"Do you want to end our relationship?" Victoria replied coldly while sucking the mucus that was almost flowing from her nose.
"After I thought about it for a while, I wasn’t worthy of being your husband from the start."
Victoria shook her head quickly. "I won’t accept your ridiculous excuse! I love you now, and yet you want a divorce." Tears streamed down her cheeks. "You are truly cruel."
Matthias’s gaze sharpened on his beloved wife. He couldn’t bear to be so cruel, but he was forced to do so to succeed. "Yes, I am indeed very cruel. I wanted to show you how cruel I truly am so you’d hate me."
"Are you being threatened by someone? Why are you suddenly acting like this?"
Matthias looked away as he got up from his chair. "I wasn’t threatened. But my family has decided I’m not allowed to marry you. Because your family is disgusting!"
Victoria patted her chest, which was getting tighter, making her vision blurrier. "Matthias... but you didn’t think about me? Didn’t you always say you wanted to be by my side because no one else wanted me?"
"I can’t do anything now. It’s pointless for me to be by your side, but you’re always getting hurt. I couldn’t protect you from the start. All I’ve given you is pain." Matthias clenched his fists tightly. "Is it that hard for you to comply with my wishes? Didn’t you not want to marry me? This is your best chance."
Victoria wasn’t losing her patience any longer. She also got up from her chair, a sarcastic smile etched onto her face. "I’m so sorry I ever hoped to be your wife. So, this is what I get. I feel like I wasted my time being in a relationship with a jerk like you!"
"Because I’m a jerk, you should just stay away from me."
"What if I suddenly started dating Ansel? Would I have the right to do so?"
"This is for your own good. I’d rather have you dating him than be my wife."
Victoria nodded, wiping her wet eyes. "Okay, it just so happens that tomorrow is a workday. Starting tomorrow, I really don’t want to go to work and come home with you. I want to go on a date with Ansel instead."
"I will not forbid you because it is your right."
Victoria actually wanted to test her husband’s reaction if she mentioned her ex-fiancé’s name openly during their argument. However, he ignored her, further fueling her anger. This only made her resent him even more.
"Matthias! I am really disappointed in you! Why are you so clueless about my feelings right now?"
Matthias slowly stepped away from his wife. "You should hate me, Victoria. You should be free from the marital game I’ve created."
"Our marriage contract is over. It’s time for me to separate from you." Victoria leaned closer to her husband, tugging on his tie. "I can’t wait to sign the divorce papers. You’d better get them ready for me as soon as possible so I can go out with Ansel."
Hearing the divorce papers shattered his heart even further. He knew the consequences of his cruel words would completely shatter their relationship. However, he had decided to let his wife go temporarily until things returned to normal.
Matthias slowly released his wife’s hand. "Okay, you just have to wait for my divorce papers."
"Now, I want to ask you one last time before I actually sign the divorce papers. Do you still love me now?" Victoria wanted to grab her husband’s shoulder, but for some reason, it felt too hard to do so now. "I know why you’re acting like this all of a sudden. You’ve never been cold to me since we started dating. You’ve always treated me warmly, and you’ve always wanted to be my personal bodyguard."
Matthias found it incredibly difficult to even confess his love to her. He honestly still loved his wife, but he was forced to stop loving her because of the current situation hindering their relationship. If he didn’t resolve all the issues they were facing, they wouldn’t be able to have a peaceful marriage.
"I can’t love you right now. But there’s one thing I want you to do before we actually sign the divorce papers." His right hand slowly stroked his wife’s head. "Even though I look annoying right now, don’t forget about me."
Victoria had suspected that her husband was developing affection for her. She knew the cruel words he was saying were just an act. In situations like this, she could read his mind. Surely, she wouldn’t forget all the sweet memories she had with him.
"What if I wanted to forget everything? I’d rather have amnesia again than keep remembering all those sweet memories, and hearing what you’re saying now makes me want to vomit."
"I leave it all to you. If you really want our relationship to end, I won’t stop you."
Victoria nodded and let out her broken tears. "This is why everyone makes fun of me. Why would I still accept a man as cruel as you? All this time, I’ve been seen as a beggar who only wants your money."
Victoria actually wanted to share the problem she was facing today, the entire D&C Group board of commissioners demanding her resignation due to reports of an out of wedlock pregnancy. Meanwhile, she couldn’t prove she was married to Matthias. She had already admitted defeat and wasn’t expecting much more.
"Today is truly the worst day. I’m so sick of it. You even asked for a divorce before I could even tell you about the problems I’m facing."
