Chapter 100: Giant Slime Emperor

Chapter 100: Giant Slime Emperor

In his past life, he recalled that the game’s first event began about four days from now.

Because he had joined the game late, Gabriel didn’t know the exact details of this event. However, from gamers back in his high school, he learned that it was a Beast Tide Event.

It required every player to defend the Valerian Kingdom against the monster tide, promising double experience points and rare treasures.

’If it was in the past, I’d have thought the event was just programming by the developers, but now I know better.’ Gabriel thought, his eyes flashing sharply.

Now, he realized this was an actual event that occurred naturally—which made him wonder if the inhabitants were aware of it.

All the events that would occur were natural. Maybe there was some influence from the Developers, who somehow had a way to access this world he didn’t yet understand.

But what he did know was that everything had consequences. Whatever the players did affected this world, which in turn would affect Earth when the game merged with reality.

Immersed in his thoughts, Gabriel wasn’t aware that Anna had been calling him for a while.

"Master." She called him for the third time.

"Mmm?" Gabriel raised a brow. "What is it?"

"Look." She pointed ahead, where a group of men with cold faces were approaching, their eyes filled with hostility.

These people weren’t otherworlders—rather, they were inhabitants of this world and pretty high-level at that.

"What do they want?"

"Are they here to cause trouble?"

The players began to whisper amongst themselves as they felt the barely concealed killing intent.

Some of them recognized these NPCs as the ones who had offered them quests prior to Sir Broken’s arrival.

And just like the complaints from others at Red Fang City, the quests had been daunting, boring tasks—for a couple of Valerian dollars.

None had even offered a single pair of trousers!

Naturally, the players abandoned these NPCs and went for Broken, who was handing out treasures like candy.

Gabriel’s eyes narrowed when he saw the newcomers. He could smell trouble from a mile away.

"Hey, you." said the lead man with a stern look. "Take your shenanigans and leave this place this instant—or we’ll force you."

"Why?" Gabriel asked calmly. "If I’m not mistaken, I’m standing at the outskirts of your town, in the wilderness—which is considered no man’s land."

"Bastard! This is an order from the City Lord himself!" another shouted, spittle flying everywhere. "Are you looking to die?"

"City Lord? Oh really?" A smile appeared on Gabriel’s face.

Before the man mentioned the City Lord, he had hesitated—and that was all Gabriel needed to know they were bluffing to scare him away.

"Lying in the name of the City Lord isn’t really the smartest thing to do, you know."

When Gabriel said this, he saw fear flash through the eyes of all four men. They tried to quickly hide it, but it was too late.

"Bluffing?! You think we’re bluffing?!" the lead man demanded, still trying to maintain face.

"If you really want us to spare you, you’d better leave behind those treasures and flee!"

"This bandit! They’re trying to extort Sir Broken!" one aggravated player shouted in anger.

"Bunch of thieves!" another spat in disdain.

"Sir Broken, please allow us to teach them a lesson?"

"Yes! This is the wilderness, after all, and we’re nearly 800 meters away from the city walls. There won’t be any punishment for killing them!"

Seeing their eagerness to kill for his sake, Gabriel didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ’If they knew these people were just as real as them, would they still be this eager?’

"At your current level, you won’t be able to handle this lot." He stepped forward, not missing a chance to show off in front of these noobs.

Gabriel roughly guessed each of the four was around level 20. Naturally, they posed zero threat to him.

"Now that you still have the chance, do the needful," warned the leader as he brought out a weapon—just a basic iron-rank blade.

The second-in-command summoned his staff as well. "How dare you come to our city and snatch all the otherworlders for yourself!"

"Prepare to die!"

Thread: Broken Heaven has been spotted in White Bridge City!

EpicLoafer: Are we going to get another epic clip!

RogueSpectre: The last video already amassed almost 10 million streams in just the past few hours.

BrokenHeavenHater: Guys, I think he should just leave the treasures and walk away. I don’t know...

OneShot: Rage bait. Ignore the person above me!

Meanwhile, in the outskirts of Red Fang City, Bunny had turned on her forum notifications to be informed whenever something happened.

When she saw that Broken was spotted in White Bridge, she couldn’t help but curse in her heart.

"Dammit! I’m still three levels away from reaching Level 10!"

"Hurry!" Ragnarok99 shouted while charging into a pack of monsters. "If we level up fast enough, we can leave the city and go meet up with him!"

Hearing these words, the group fought with even more intensity.

Meanwhile, IceQueen and ChaosCleric had learned the news as well.

"Quickly, order all our members in Red Fang City to help those NPCs!" IceQueen commanded.

"Guild leader, this is not a good idea. None of the players are up to Level 8. I fear the same thing will happen again."

Although ChaosCleric wanted revenge, he had a cooler head on his shoulders compared to IceQueen.

She gritted her teeth, a large vein throbbing in her temple.

She wanted to smash that red-haired face into the ground—just like he had done to her—but she knew very well that at her current strength, it was useless.

’If only brother played this game, I wouldn’t be worried about that bastard.’ she thought as she finally agreed. "Fine. Tell them to only observe!"

Back in White Bridge City, the four individuals prepared to clash with Gabriel, slowly circling him.

Gabriel stood in the middle, breath even, expression calm.

Tension thickened in the air.

And just when they were about to clash, a powerful presence suddenly enveloped everything—followed by a beastly roar.

ROOAR!

"What’s that sound?!"

"Why do I feel weak all of a sudden?!"

Players began to panic, and a deep frown appeared on Gabriel’s face as well.

At that moment, a loud notification appeared in the sky.
