Chapter 1751: Pillars of light appearing
"So my theory was correct? They were following the principles of our shaman magic arrays to create these arrays?"
The cloaked orc was the only one that spoke after Lin Fan reported what he had seen.
The way that he said this was almost as if he was excited that his theory had been proven correct.
However, he was the only one that acted this way.
The rest of the representatives all had grim looks on their faces.
Even the orcs that were sitting in on the meeting had grim looks as they realized what was happening to their compatriots that had been caught by the forces of Destruction.
After a while, the cloaked orc also realized that his reaction wasn’t proper and calmed himself down. Though it was hard to hide the trace of disappointment that was in his eyes as he calmed down.
It was clear that he wanted more information about the array that I had seen.
The way that he snuck peeks at me, I didn’t even need to think to know that he would look for me later.
After a long silence hung in the air, someone suddenly asked, "What can we do?"
It was the pope of the Solista Religion that asked this and he had been looking at me when he asked this.
He was always the one that seemed to have the most faith in me and it was shown now that he was the first to ask me this question.
But after he asked this question, everyone looked at me as if they were waiting for an answer from me.
Once all of their attention was on me, I said, "Well, I do have a plan, but it’s a bit risky. At the same time, I have no idea what that one member of the Four Omens will do once we put this plan into action."
I paused at this point to give everyone some time to think about it.
However, judging by the looks on their faces.
"It’s not like we have any other options in the first place, so why are you making us wait so long? It’s not as if you need to doubt our conviction since we’ve come all this way."
After the pope of the Solista Religion said this, I gave a nod before I started laying out my plan for them.
When it was over, all of them had deeply knitted brows showing that they didn’t exactly love the plan. But at the same time, it was clear that they were conflicted since they didn’t know if there was anything else that could be done...
This really seemed like the only option that they had.
So in the end, that was the option that they chose.
...
"What are those pillars of light?"
"Lord Pestilence, we don’t know. They suddenly appeared out of nowhere and it seems like they’re growing in number..."
"If you don’t know, then why haven’t you sent out anything to scout it yet?" Pestilence of the God of Destruction’s Four Omens slapped the Apostle of Destruction that was kneeling in front of him.
That Apostle of Destruction didn’t get angry, they didn’t even show a trace of emotion after being slapped like this.
All the Apostle of Destruction did was bow their head and say, "Yes Lord Pestilence, we will immediately send them out."
Once the Apostle of Destruction disappeared, Pestilence said with a sigh, "It’s nothing but idiots and it’s all because of the biggest idiot Famine. If he wasn’t in a rush to obtain merit, then he wouldn’t have cost us all of those Apostles of Destruction."
It wasn’t as if there were infinite Apostles of Destructions, even though the God of Destruction had been here since the beginning of this world. It required a certain aptitude to become an Apostle of Destruction and it wasn’t as if just anyone had that aptitude.
Even if they had the aptitude, there were those that couldn’t fully become Apostles of Destruction.
They had the power of Apostles of Destructions, but they lacked the intelligence that was required. They were nothing more than living puppets similar to the ones that Pestilence was commanding.
If it wasn’t for the fact that War and Death needed those more intelligent Apostles of Destruction, then it wouldn’t have ended with him being stuck with these fools.
Though the main deciding factor was that Pestilence was weaker than War and Death. He was only the third of the Four Omens, so he couldn’t do anything if War and Death needed something.
The only reason that Famine had received that support before was because everyone had been certain that his plan would succeed, so they all provided support to him in the form of those Apostles of Destruction.
But in the end, he lost them all...
"Forget it. As long as we take care of this place, it’ll be easy to make more Apostles of Destruction. Once we find some better materials, it’ll be easy to replace the ones that we lost."
Then with a more serious look, Pestilence said, "The most important thing right now is finishing the ceremony."
But the moment that he said this, it was as if the pillars of light that were around him were responding to his voice as they suddenly became bigger and more powerful.
The moment that Pestilence saw this, he knew that this wouldn’t be something that the Apostles of Destruction would be able to deal with alone. In fact, he could see that these pillars of light would even pose a threat to him.
It wasn’t that each individual pillar of light would be able to hurt him, it was just that when these pillars of light came together, there was this array that was formed.
It was still incomplete, but if they were to finish it...
"Damn it, why did this have to happen now out of all time?" Pestilence cursed under his breath, but he already knew the answer to his own question.
After all, he had seen someone sneaking in earlier.
