Chapter 334 South Park Arc (2)

Chapter 1 The Escape and the Preparation

Feng Bujue charged down the mountain, and after running for about a minute, he could no longer hear the gunshots behind him. He then deactivated [Ling Shi Ju Shen Shu]. At this point, his Survival Value was at 62%, which was relatively safe.

South Park was a typical American country town. There were no towering buildings, no congested traffic, and no terrible air quality.

However, though small, it had all the essential facilities. The town had a church, a municipal building, a post office, a school, a shopping center, and so on.

As soon as Feng Bujue entered the town, the system prompt sounded:

[Current Quest Completed, Main Quest Updated]

The previous quest disappeared, and a new quest appeared: [Search the town and prepare before the "Great Disaster" begins.]

"Heh...prepare..." Feng Bujue sneered. To be honest, he really didn't know how to prepare, because the content of that "Great Disaster" was truly ridiculous.

"I should go get some heavy weapons first..." Feng Bujue thought for a moment and decided to loot the gun store.

South Park only had one gun store, and it was run by Jimbo and Ned. These two were close friends who had both served in the Vietnam War. They were both bachelors and ran the gun store together. They often went hunting in the mountains and even had a TV show about hunting. I know what you're thinking now: Hey, they must have had a period of "picking up soap" during their military service...

But that probably wasn't the case...

Feng Bujue asked a passerby for directions in a very normal and polite tone, and the other person told him where the gun store was in a normal way.

Five minutes later, Feng Bujue arrived in front of the shop on the street.

It was a one-story building with brown brick walls. The roof covered a slightly wider area than the walls. The front of the building had no windows. In the center was a double glass sliding door. The door leaves were made of metal frames and frosted glass, and each leaf was painted with the words "jimBosguns" in white paint. Above the door was a large black sign with yellow letters, also bearing the same words.

To the left of the door was a billboard, also in black and yellow. Under the large letters of "Jimbo's Guns" were the words "Buy, Sell, Trade, and Ship." To the right of the door were a wooden ammunition cylinder and a large wooden wagon wheel, common in Westerns, probably for decoration.

When Feng Bujue arrived at the store, the sign hanging on the glass door read "CLose." After trying the door and finding it locked, Jue Ge took out a pipe wrench, smashed the glass, and reached inside to open the lock.

The reason he dared to do this was simple: he knew that Jimbo and Ned were not in the store at the moment. If he hadn't known that, he wouldn't have dared to break in.

Forcibly breaking in didn't trigger any alarms, which was also what Feng Bujue expected (you'll soon understand why).

Jue Ge pushed the door open and entered. Inside the gun store, on the walls to the left and right of the main entrance, hung a rabbit head and a rabbit tail, respectively, with blood that hadn't been washed off.

Under the rabbit head was a yellow warning sign with a black pistol on it, and the words "Ammunition isn't cheap, so we don't fire warning shots" in red letters.

Under the rabbit tail was a white warning sign with a yellow smiley face on it, and the words "Please unload your guns and remove your ski masks. Thank you!" in black letters.

If the implications of these two signs weren't clear enough, let's continue...

Around the store were neatly arranged cabinets containing various types of firearms, mostly rifles, as well as some ski jackets commonly used for hunting in the mountains. Feng Bujue didn't stand on ceremony. He casually took a dark blue-green jacket from the wall and put it on.

Walking to the counter, one could see three layers of various models of pistols in the waist-high glass cabinet.

On the shelf behind the counter, in addition to a box of bullets, there was a row of display firearms from top to bottom: a G3 automatic rifle (no attachments), an SPAS-12 shotgun (no attachments), an M40A3 sniper rifle, an M733 Commando submachine gun (with grenade launcher attachment), and the classic Colt M1873 revolver.

The position and height of this row of guns were right behind the cash register, meaning that the clerk (Jimbo) could easily grab one with a turn of his body.

Next to this row of guns, in the most conspicuous place high on the wall, were two more warning signs.

The top white sign was written in eye-catching black and red fonts: "Intruders will be shot on sight. If we don't kill you, we'll shoot again."

The bottom black sign had a white pistol logo and was written in white and red fonts: "We are protected by the Second Amendment."

Turning to the right side of the counter, there was a lattice-shaped window. On the wall next to the window, a headless dead snake was nailed, its body still bleeding. There was also a pair of severed rabbit ears nailed to a disc...

Below the pair of ears was another warning sign, this one in orange, with black and red letters: "Criminals! Can you run 850 feet per second? If not, you better have a bulletproof head."

Looking to the left of the counter, there was a map of the United States hanging on the wall, but the map didn't mark place names, only the areas covered by the "Stand Your Ground" law (meaning that one can legally shoot intruders on one's own property) in green marker. Four states encouraged civilians to shoot; and the laws of nine states did not recommend shooting people, these nine places were marked with red crosses...

Next to the map was a side door with a sign that read "Ned's Only," and above the sign were two slogans: "We don't bother calling the police." and "Beware of Owner."

Stealing things in this store made Feng Bujue feel like he was sitting on pins and needles. On average, every five seconds, he had to look up and observe the various entrances to prevent the two domineering gun-toting maniacs from returning to the store and opening fire without a word.

Fortunately, that didn't happen...

Although the characters in South Park could do some heaven-defying things at times (such as eating with their butts and excreting with their mouths), for the most part, their combat power was no different from normal humans. Therefore, Jimbo and Ned couldn't have returned to the gun store in such a short time.

Five minutes later, Feng Bujue had already stuffed several heavy weapons into his backpack and stuffed pistols and a pile of ammunition into his clothes. Then he quickly left to avoid any trouble.

Since he didn't take the 40% extra experience bonus in the last settlement, Feng Bujue was a little tempted when he saw the 80% reward for this scenario. He put the thought of "releasing a summoning skill once and dying is fine" behind him and began to fully focus on攻略 the scenario.

At this moment, Feng Bujue didn't have the time to summon Musashi Koganei and study the abilities of this summon. Because once the "Great Disaster" arrived, the threat of death would be omnipresent and follow him like a shadow.

Jue Ge was that kind of person. He had to take on challenges whether they were there or not, and even more so when they were there. Complaining about the inhumane difficulty of the game while enjoying the process of overcoming it was his consistent style.

His next stop was the hospital.

After obtaining sufficient weapons and ammunition, the second type of supplies needed was definitely medical supplies. Even wealthy players who didn't lack money wouldn't pass up the readily available resources in the scenario, let alone Feng Bujue.

Before leaving Jimbo's gun store, Feng Bujue casually grabbed a town map from a shelf near the door, quickly confirmed the hospital's address, and set off.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, he didn't consider stealing a car or hitching a ride (South Park had very few taxis), but walked the whole way. Anyway, the town wasn't big, and he'd arrive soon enough. The large firearms were hidden in his backpack, and Feng Bujue didn't look very suspicious from the outside.

The town's streets were relatively empty, and running on the street would be too conspicuous, so Feng Bujue just walked quickly. After walking for a while, something suddenly caught his eye...

It was an electronics store with a storefront facing the street. The storefront window contained many televisions, and "breaking" news was being broadcast on the televisions.

In the news footage, a large group of heavily armed American soldiers poured out of military helicopters and armored vehicles to forcibly arrest Peruvian panpipe bands in various places.

What was both funny and absurd was that after the "people" were taken away, the boxes, instruments, CDs, etc., left by the bands on the street were collected by a group of soldiers in full isolation suits using metal clips, as if the items these panpipe bands had touched contained biochemical viruses.

Feng Bujue moved closer to the window to listen and could hear the sound from the screen.

"The government's operation to resolve the Peruvian panpipe band crisis has entered its third day. Panpipe bands in major cities around the world have been disbanded and quarantined, but there are still some who have slipped through the net. The Department of Homeland Security requires..."

As the news anchor said these words, the screen interspersed several "arrest" scenes. When he said "requires," the screen also displayed subtitles: [If you see a Peruvian panpipe band, do not approach] [Record their whereabouts and report them to the authorities] [Under no circumstances should you buy their CDs]

"The panpipe bands have now been brought under control and are being transported to the quarantine zone in Miami..."

Seeing this, Feng Bujue left the window. He muttered to himself, "It's already the afternoon of the third day... The disaster will break out globally before sunset. I need to hurry..."

Ten minutes later, he arrived at South Park's only hospital, Hell's Pass Hospital, along the town's main street.

"No matter how many times I see the name of this hospital, I want to complain..." Feng Bujue said, looking up at the hospital gate, and then walked in.
