Chapter 14: CONFESSION GONE WRONG
WHY is Dujun Sunbae-nim angry?
This was the angriest Wonyoung had seen Yun Dujun.
Not that I have that many memories of Sunbae-nim.
However, this side of Yun Dujun was quite fascinating.
Not scary because I just know Dujun Sunbae-nim won’t hurt me physically.
But if ever he was wrong, then he was lucky that they were in the dining hall. It would be easy to run towards the sink and grab a knife.
"Bae Wonyoung, are you listening?"
"Yes, but I don’t understand why Sunbae-nim is angry."
"You don’t understand why I’m angry that you’re planning to foster another kid? When you make it obvious that you don’t want to have anything to do with Yun Yuhyun?"
That again.
Wonyoung felt a sharp pain in his head as his chest tightened painfully— like the pressure of being Yun Yuhyun’s Omega father was crushing his lungs, making it hard for him to breathe.
The thought of being a father to that kid was really... unthinkable.
He was aware that feeling that way wasn’t normal.
And, yet, he didn’t want to think about it.
"Sunbae-nim, you only asked me to give birth to your child," Wonyoung said awkwardly. "You didn’t say that I need to raise him."
Yun Dujun looked surprised at first, and then his face suddenly turned stoic.
That was the face that Wonyoung was very familiar with.
Yep, that’s the Sunbae-nim I know— emotionless most of the time.
"Plus, I can see that Yun Yuhyun grew up well even without me. In fact, maybe he’ll be better off without me as his father," Wonyoung said, still trying to convince Yun Dujun that he wasn’t fit to be Yun Yuhyun’s father. "But the kid I’m planning to foster only has me."
"If you want to help that kid, then we can support him. I’ll sponsor that kid financially if that will make you satisfied."
"I want to raise that kid, Sunbae-nim."
Yun Dujun fell silent for a moment, and then his brows furrowed a little as if he had just realized something important. "Did you ask me to extend our marriage by six months because you want to qualify as a foster parent? As far as I know, the law changed a few years ago. Omegas now have to be married for at least three years if they want to adopt or foster a kid."
Oops.
I got caught.
Might as well confess everything at this point.
Wonyoung avoided Yun Dujun’s gaze guiltily. "They said the process to be accepted as a foster parent will be quicker if my husband is an Alpha..."
Yun Dujun let out a sigh.
Sunbae-nim seems really pissed.
"You will not put another child above my son, Bae Wonyoung."
Tsk.
"Sunbae-nim, how many times do I have to tell you that Yun Yuhyun doesn’t need me?" Wonyoung complained lightly, and then he finally gathered the courage to face the angry Yun Dujun again. "You have Heeju Ahjussi and your family to help raise Yun Yuhyun."
"Is it because of my mother?"
"What?"
"You don’t want to raise Yun Yuhyun because my mother threatened you, right?"
Huh?
Wonyoung was honestly lost.
I remember what kind of family Dujun Sunbae-nim has, but I don’t remember much about my in-laws?
Were his memories affected by the fact that he was in a coma for five years?
To be fair, he had already asked himself about that several times already.
But he would always end up with the same answer.
I just don’t want to remember.
Because for Wonyoung, his ’Chapter’ with Yun Dujun and Yun Yuhyun was already over.
I need to focus on finding An Baekya.
"You’re not answering. I must be right," Yun Dujun said sternly. "Bae Wonyoung, I know that my mother is the reason why you fell into a coma."
Wonyoung almost choked on his saliva.
Dujun Sunbae-nim’s mother was the reason I fell into a coma?!
To be honest, he was shocked.
I thought I fell into a coma during childbirth...
In the novel Endless, the story of book Bae Wonyoung and book Yun Dujun, Bae Wonyoung didn’t fall into a coma.
He gave birth to Yun Yuhyun naturally, if I remember it correctly.
The other details were hazy now, but he was pretty sure that the book Bae Wonyoung didn’t fall ’asleep’ for five years.
"Bae Wonyoung, do you resent me because of that accident?"
Accident?
"No, it would be inappropriate to call it an accident because my mother did it on purpose."
What did your mother do to me, Sunbae-nim?
"You must have already heard that my mother got away with it unscathed."
No, I’ve never heard anything about your mother, Sunbae-nim.
"You must be disappointed in me because I wasn’t able to stop my father from protecting my mother. I understand if that’s how you’re feeling," Yun Dujun said, sighing. "But don’t take it out on YunYuhyun. You can be angry at me, but don’t treat our son like a stranger."
"It’s not like that, Sunbae-nim," Wonyoung said while shaking his head. "I’m already over what your mother did to me."
I don’t remember it anyway, and I don’t think it’s important.
"I’m not acting like this out of resentment, Sunbae-nim. I simply don’t believe that I’m fit to be Yun Yuhyun’s father."
Yun Dujun clenched his jaw as he shot Wonyoung a cold look. "And you’re fit to be An Baekya’s father, Hoobae-nim?"
"Sunbae-nim, why does it matter when we’re going to divorce six months later? Once the divorce is finalized, I’m going to be out of the picture anyway. Won’t it be better for me not to get close to Yun Yuhyun so the child won’t get attached to me?"
"Let’s get divorced, Bae Wonyoung."
"What?"
"When I agreed to extend our marriage for six months, the only thing I asked from you was to spend time with Yun Yuhyun— to get to know our son. But I can see how reluctant you are, acting as if I asked you for the impossible."
Wonyoung flinched, guilty.
Yun Dujun was being harsh by using that scary cold tone, but everything he said was right.
And, even if he wanted to complain, he couldn’t do it.
Dujun Sunbae-nim’s pheromones are making me weak.
Wonyoung’s pride as a Dominant Omega was hurt.
But what could he do?
Dujun Sunbae-nim is a Dominant Alpha...
"If you don’t even want to try to be a good father to Yun Yuhyun, then don’t even think about fostering another child— I won’t let you do that," Yun Dujun said while standing up. "I’ll divorce you, so good luck finding a quick way to be a foster parent before you find An Baekya."
Bae Wonyoung clenched his hands tight, but he couldn’t actually say anything back.
I almost forgot that Dujun Sunbae-nim can really be a jerk sometimes— though I have to admit I deserve this lashing.
***
AH.
I forgot to tell Yun Yuhyun that he should upgrade his Paw-Paw Power Rod by grinding for ’Pebbles.’
Wonyoung was lying on the floor of the living room while staring at the ceiling.
He called his boss at the convenience store, and the old gentleman told him that he could rest for two more days.
My boss said he’ll take my place in the meantime.
He was grateful since he really needed a break.
Not to laze around, but to meet Bae Gayoung— his paternal cousin.
Well, my cousin hasn’t replied to my message. In fact, she hasn’t read it yet. But once she does, I plan to meet her in person.
For now, he was just spacing out.
More like thinking about Yun Dujun.
Dujun Sunbae-nim looks more expressive now than he did when we were in college.
And then Wonyoung remembered why Yun Dujun got into acting...
