Chapter 1233: Chapter 1233: Extra Story of the Eel 70

Su Man didn’t know what he was thinking. She pressed her lips together, feeling uneasy inside…

She couldn’t pinpoint why she was uncomfortable. She hadn’t done anything wrong. Maybe… she just didn’t want to disappoint him.

With that thought, she spoke softly, “It’s just two or three days. His injury isn’t serious; he should recover quickly.”

Lu Yuwen let out a low sigh. “I just think you’re working too hard. Your workload is already heavy, and now you can’t even rest well at night…”

After a brief pause, he sighed again, sounding like he was feeling deeply sorry for her. “Let’s not talk anymore. Go wash up and get some sleep.”

Su Man glanced at the time. It was indeed very late.

Not only had they not seen each other today, but there wasn’t much time left even for conversation…

Sigh.

“You should sleep soon, too,” Su Man said reluctantly. “Good night.”

Lu Yuwen: “Good night.”

Su Man lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.

“It’s just a few days without seeing each other…” She closed her eyes, then opened them again, murmuring to herself, “He’ll understand, I’m sure. I told him before that Li Li and I have a close relationship, we grew up together… Besides, seeing him on the weekend is the same thing…”

After muttering to herself for a while, she still couldn’t shake off the irritation. She couldn’t explain why but felt as though she wasn’t good enough.

Her way of handling things or her attitude toward people and situations all seemed somewhat lacking. She didn’t even know how to improve… The more she thought about it, the more she concluded it was just her personality.

“It’s just a few days apart… seeing each other every day is too clingy to begin with…”

She comforted herself, then reflected on her own behavior, and finally, in a haze, she fell asleep.

The next day, the sun was blazing in a bright, clear sky without a single cloud. Sunlight scorched the car roof, and even though she sat in a fully air-conditioned car, she could somehow still feel the heat outside.

It was only seven or eight in the morning. If it was already this hot now, who knew how unbearable it would get by noon.

With her mood already restless, the weather made her feel even more irritable. She could only look forward to the evening when the sun would set, and the temperature would drop.

But then the thought of spending the evening with Li Li crossed her mind, and she felt… well, if it was going to be hot, so be it. When is summer ever not hot?

Su Man realized her mindset had shifted.

She used to feel happy, even excited, when meeting Li Li. But now, all she could muster was a sense of perfunctory obligation and helplessness.

When had things started to change? … Was it because they fought too often and she got sick of him? That didn’t seem right. Back then, no matter how many arguments they had, they’d inexplicably make up afterward. When she saw him again next time, she was always cheerful.

All those times, she hadn’t felt sick of him. So why was it different now?

The only difference was… now, there was Lu Yuwen.

Having dinner together every evening, going shopping, scouting for locations, chatting—it all added up. Without even realizing it, her attitude began to change.

Just as Li Li had said, Yuwen often made her light up with just a few words. Being with him was so comfortable, so effortlessly enjoyable, that it was almost addictive. Those hidden, unspoken voids within her—the things she craved but had gone unnoticed—were always fulfilled when she was with Lu Yuwen.

As long as she was with him, even doing the most mundane tasks, she’d never feel bored.

That begged the question: did she really like Lu Yuwen as a person… or did she just like how good he was to her?

That thought floated to the surface, leaving Su Man feeling lost.

If Lu Yuwen treated her the way Li Li did, would she still like him?

A sudden blaring honk snapped Su Man out of her daze, startling her. She returned to her senses and realized the light had already turned green, and the car behind her was honking impatiently for her to move.

She felt mortified. How could she have zoned out while driving? Just yesterday, on the phone with Lu Yuwen, she had been bragging about her professionalism. What a humiliation!

Shaking her head to clear away the jumbled thoughts, Su Man refocused and drove back onto the road.
