Chapter 316 Savior in the Apocalypse (11)

She stared at the little girl still on the bodyguard's back, and said fiercely, "Behave yourself. If you dare to push anyone again, I'll throw you out to feed them."

Zhu Xuewei shivered violently, lowered her head, and said nothing.

"Let's go."

Zhu Yujue led the way, the two following closely behind. The bodyguard and the other members of the Zhu family walked behind them, followed by several people with abilities, and finally, two soldiers at the very end.

Chong Yan was still hanging from Zhu Jing's hand. Everyone else seemed to be on a terrifying adventure, while the two of them were like a couple visiting a haunted house, showing no fear at all. His little actions seemed more like attempts to gain Zhu Jing's attention.

Zhu Jing patted his hand: "Behave."

"What's wrong with me?"

Zhu Jing tried to pull her hand back, but he held it tightly. "I'm scared."

Zhu Jing felt that once they left this place, she would have to deal with this man who was constantly flirting.

Zhu Yujue glanced at the two of them, unable to quite understand why they were so clingy.

They found plenty of food in the small processing workshop ahead. Some unfinished products that hadn't been packaged had spoiled, but thankfully, anything that was packaged was still edible.

"Anything else?"

Zhu Yujue looked at the factory building several stories high next to them: "There's one here that makes compressed biscuits, but there were many people inside at the time, so maybe..."

The rest of the words were unnecessary. The inside was likely filled with a sea of zombies.

Chong Yan said thoughtfully, "They don't eat biscuits, do they?"

A burst of laughter came from behind. Zhu Jing patted his back: "Don't be silly."

"I'm not, I'm serious."

Zhu Jing was a bit speechless. She looked at the large door in front of them and turned to Zhu Yujue: "Open it."

Everyone else instinctively retreated.

Zhu Yujue stepped forward and opened the door. The scene they had imagined, of being swarmed by zombies the moment they entered, did not happen. Instead, it was surprisingly quiet.

Chong Yan muttered, "Seems not."

The others slowly gathered around. After entering, they still saw nothing unusual. Some of the robotic arms in the factory were still suspended in mid-air, likely frozen by a sudden power outage.

Similarly, the unfinished biscuits had spoiled, and a rotten smell emanated from the factory. At first, they thought it was food spoilage, until a boy suddenly cried out in terror.

The others immediately became alert, looking at him. A soldier close to him asked, "What is it?"

The boy extended a hand, pointing at a massive container. It was probably used for mixing raw materials, a large iron barrel at least five or six meters high. Next to it were a few smaller ones. In one of the tilted iron barrels, a pair of dark pupils were staring at them with malevolent coldness.

The soldier immediately shielded the boy behind him and fired two shots at its obviously inhuman eyes.

When bullets hit zombies, there was a certain chance of headshots. The bullets merely pinged twice, and the monster leaped directly out of the large iron barrel, lunging at the soldier who had attacked it.

Only then did everyone see its full appearance. Its body was at least two-thirds larger than a human's, its two-meter-plus tall frame looking incredibly powerful. Its clothes were nowhere to be seen, replaced by a somewhat carbonized, coarse, and tough skin. This skin was incredibly hard, even capable of deflecting bullets.

The soldier immediately shoved the person behind him away and dodged to the side, rolling on the ground. The monster landed where he had been standing, its massive body shaking the ground significantly, a sensation felt by everyone.

With its size, its weight likely exceeded a thousand pounds.

Another soldier picked up the Gatling gun he had obtained from Zhu Yujue's office and continuously fired at its head.

This time, the bullets were not deflected. Instead, they created many holes in its head, some embedding directly.

The monster seemed to sense danger, leaping and dodging, using its thick black arms to block bullets as it charged towards them.

The bodyguards were stunned, and no one else looked good. Zhu Jing originally wanted Chong Yan to go, but he absolutely refused. Helpless, she drew her sword and charged forward herself. The edge of her long sword swept across its body. The body that ordinary bullets couldn't penetrate instantly developed a crack.

It paused for a moment, then turned its attention to Zhu Jing. Its ugly, grotesque face showed an expression of hatred, and it howled as it lunged at Zhu Jing, its large claws reaching out towards her.

Zhu Jing held her sword horizontally, leaped into the air, and with one slash, cut off its arm. The powerful gust of wind swept across its neck, creating another gash. A thick, black liquid flowed from the wound, accompanied by a stench that immediately filled the air, making one nauseous.

Everyone else retreated to a safe distance, watching silently.

The monster had sensed Zhu Jing's power, but its hatred was too intense, and it still recklessly tried to grab her. Its heavy body lunged at her, intending to crush her into a pulp.

Zhu Jing dodged rapidly, simultaneously raising her long sword and slashing directly at its head. As the long sword contacted its head, everyone even seemed to see sparks. With a "clang," its steel-like head was violently split open. It let out another roar, then its body crashed heavily to the ground. Thick, black liquid flowed from its head. Its body twitched a few times and soon fell completely still.

Zhu Jing landed back on the ground. Her long sword seemed so angry it wanted to rebel, shaking rapidly to shake off anything on it, and emitting light. Soon, it transformed back into a clean sword.

Chong Yan ran over and threw himself onto Zhu Jing: "You're so amazing!"

Zhu Jing steadied him and patted his body: "Get down."

Chong Yan let go and returned to the ground. He looked at the behemoth in front of them and kicked it: "What is this thing?"

"I don't know."

The others also gathered around, observing the thing on the ground.

"Is this also a zombie?"

"It looks like a zombie, but why is its body so big? And it's invulnerable to blades and bullets. Amazing! Could this be the legendary Zombie King?"

Someone looked at the long sword in Zhu Jing's hand: "Is the Zombie King this weak?"

A soldier took out a dagger and tried to stab its body forcefully. Sparks flew, as if his dagger had struck a rock.

He felt his wrist go numb and retracted the dagger: "Very hard, comparable to bulletproof vest."

The person who had called it weak swallowed hard.

"Stop looking. Find all the food, and let's take it and leave quickly."

"Okay."

The others began to search for food. They found a lot of packaged compressed biscuits. Besides biscuits, they also found several bags of raw materials, all grains, and packed them all away.

As they were about to leave, Jiang Xiaoshu suddenly called out.

"What is it now?" Chong Yan turned around and said impatiently, "Why are you all so troublesome?"

Jiang Xiaoshu looked at the giant zombie: "I've read apocalypse novels. They say zombies have crystal cores in their heads. Should we cut it open and see?"
