Chapter 315 Savior in the Apocalypse (10)

They encountered no zombies in the public area until Zhu Yujue opened the door to a food processing workshop, and a heavily decomposed zombie lunged at him.

A bodyguard beside him immediately shoved him aside and engaged the zombie. Several more zombies in work clothes emerged from behind, and two soldiers raised their guns, blasting their heads off.

The group was focused on what was ahead when a scream suddenly came from behind. They turned around to see Zhu Xingchen’s sister pushing the girl in front of her to shield herself from a zombie.

Zhu Xingchen stared at her sister in disbelief, then leaped forward, shoving the girl aside and blocking the zombie’s attack. Several more zombies, their bodies highly decayed, some even with maggots crawling within their rotting flesh, crawled in one after another, making everyone sick.

This time, it wasn’t that Chong Yan didn’t want to kill, but his long sword didn’t want to move. He was also disgusted by those things.

Zhu Jiu instantly wanted to throw him away.

She swept her hand over several zombies, instantly drying their bodies into mummies. However, to her astonishment, even as mummies, they weren’t entirely dead, and they crawled towards them with stiff corpses.

Not just her, but everyone else was even more stunned.

Seeing the zombies approaching, Zhu Jiu was too lazy to let Chong Yan deal with them. She picked up the long sword, which immediately dared not resist and was controlled by her, slicing off half of the zombie’s head.

The other charging zombies fearlessly pounced on them, clawing at them. Chong Yan quickly hid on Zhu Jiu’s body, wishing he could climb onto her.

Zhu Jiu allowed him to hang on her, raised the long sword, and sliced off its upper body. Then she was stunned again.

The upper half of that thing continued to crawl over.

“Damn it!”

Zhu Jiu’s worldview shattered twice. She couldn’t help but hack at it several times, dividing its body into several pieces and its head into three, only then was it truly dead.

She gained experience and knew to chop off their heads to kill them, so she stopped wasting her strength, aiming each strike at their heads.

The bodyguards protected the others, while those with abilities and the two soldiers dealt with the other zombies. After more than ten minutes of fighting, they finally dealt with at least thirty zombies that kept pouring in.

Zhu Jiu patted Chong Yan, who was hanging on her, “Come down.”

“I won’t.”

“There are no more zombies, come down quickly.”

Chong Yan looked around while hanging on her, confirming there were truly none left. He then slowly slid down, but still clung to her arm.

The others walked in and found a clean spot to sit and rest.

Zhu Xingchen stood up and walked towards Zhu Xuewei, who was hiding behind her parents. He roughly dragged her out and shoved her in front of the girl, saying sternly, “Apologize!”

Zhu Xuewei’s face had been pale and trembling from fright, and being yelled at by her second brother, she instantly burst into tears, looking at her grandparents and parents with great grievance, appearing very pathetic.

However, everyone had seen what she had done, so no one paid any attention.

“Apologize!”

Zhu Xuewei swayed precariously and finally managed to force out a “Sorry.” After speaking, she rolled her eyes and fainted.

Now Zhu Xingchen was in trouble again, being lectured by his parents and grandparents in turn.

“Let them rest here, we’ll go get food. Once we find it, we should leave quickly.”

The two soldiers stood up, looking at the group of people here, then at Zhu Jiu. Thinking that she and Chong Yan were likely the highest combat power here, they said, “Comrade Xiao Zhao, you stay here and watch them. This little comrade will come with us. Comrade Zhu, lead the way, we’ll be fast…”

“No!” Chong Yan’s tender voice was filled with spoiled petulance. “I want to be with her, we can’t be separated!”

Zhu Jiu wouldn’t be separated from him either. “Let them wait here. Just close the door, and it’ll be fine.”

The Zhu family members also stood up, somewhat at a loss.

And those who had exhausted their abilities were now sitting and resting with pale faces, clearly lacking strength.

Zhu Yujue looked at his relatives and said, “Let’s go together. We don’t have many people, and it’s not safe to split up.”

His bodyguards were all ordinary people and unarmed. Thinking of this, Zhu Yujue’s gaze darkened.

His eyes swept across the two conjoined individuals and the two soldiers. Finally, he made up his mind, took a few steps forward, and said to the two soldiers, “There are some weapons in the offices behind, but there might be monsters and more zombies inside.”

“What weapons?”

“Firearms.” He no longer cared about the trouble his secret might bring; any trouble was less than the monsters they were facing now.

The two soldiers indeed showed surprised expressions, staring at him and saying, “You’re hiding firearms?”

“I have a license.”

Though his license was obtained dishonorably, and…

“You have a license for this too?”

The soldier pointed at the rocket launcher displayed on the counter, his eyes widening even further, and his gaze towards Zhu Yujue became increasingly strange.

They didn’t know how powerful the Zhu Group was, but they knew national law. Ordinary firearms could be managed to obtain one or two by loopholes, but this thing was not.

If it weren’t for the apocalypse, with this thing, the authorities could have taken down countless flies and tigers from top to bottom.

Zhu Yujue also felt slightly guilty.

Zhu Jiu was a little speechless. “Never mind whether he has a license or not, let’s grab them and go. Those things will rush in soon.”

They had killed so many zombies on their way here. This factory was huge, with tens of thousands of employees. Someone must have escaped back then, but they had no idea how many were left. The longer they delayed, the more dangerous it would be.

The two soldiers no longer bothered to reprimand him. They took out the weapons, distributed them to a few bodyguards, and had Chong Yan put the rest into his spatial storage. Then they began to retreat.

Zhu Xuewei could no longer walk. Now she had to be carried, being more of a burden than two elderly people in their sixties or seventies. She shrieked incessantly, annoying everyone.

As they went down the stairs, she saw a zombie crawling up from the stairwell and started shouting again. Chong Yan, holding one of Zhu Jiu’s arms, turned back and glared at her fiercely, “Who’s biting your neck! Can you shut up? You’re so noisy!”

She instantly quieted down, and the others said nothing.

Zhu Xingchen frowned as he looked at Chong Yan but ultimately said nothing.

Zhu Jiu kicked a charging zombie down and held her sword as if it were a stick, poking the heads of any that crawled in front of her, as easily as poking tofu.

Only those who had also fought knew how difficult these walking corpses were to deal with. They had no consciousness, felt no pain, and attacking anywhere other than the brain was basically ineffective. They would still crawl even if cut into pieces, and the key was that they generally couldn’t hit their heads.

They continued to kill their way out, and after more than half an hour, they finally returned downstairs, preparing to head to the factory in the back.

Zhu Jiu frowned, looking at the few people without the ability to protect themselves. “When we go in, don’t shout. Mr. Zhu, you lead the way, we’ll be by your side. You won’t die, don’t be afraid. Others walk in the middle, and the two soldiers go in the back.”
