Chapter 72: Rumors Abound

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Rumors Abound

Serena Yeats nodded in confusion, "I feel so awful."

She gazed at him with dreamy eyes, wanting to say something more.

But Elias Lancaster silenced her with a kiss.

Elias would never let his wife endure discomfort, so he bowed his head and began tonight’s wonderful waltz.

Serena awoke in the morning, observing the man by the bed, buttoning his shirt. He had gone to bed later than her, expending several times her energy.

How on earth does he manage to look so refreshed!

Serena recalled that since the full moon party, it seemed every time she felt utterly drained, as if she’d had all her vitality sapped by that charming demon.

Yet the man was always full of energy.

Just what kind of magical potion did this man consume!

Elias, fully dressed, leaned down and kissed Serena.

"Sweetheart, I’m off to work, you have a good rest."

Serena nodded.

After Elias left, she slept until eleven in the morning.

She got up, washed, prepared milk formula for Yara and Yuri, and fed them, just about to have lunch.

Elias returned.

He had promised to take her to school, and he did so.

Throughout the ride, Serena slept.

Upon arriving at the school, seeing her exhausted and sleeping soundly, Elias couldn’t bring himself to wake her.

Serena slept for quite a while until Elias woke her when it was almost time.

She opened her eyes, glanced outside, and then at the time.

"I’m going to be late..." she exclaimed in alarm.

She quickly tidied her hair, grabbed her backpack, and hurriedly got out of the car.

Seeing this, the man lowered the car window.

"Serena, did you forget something?"

Serena paused in her steps.

She looked around, saw no one, opened the car door, and leaned in.

"Mua!"

She gave the man a peck on the cheek.

Just as she was about to retreat.

The man reached out, pressing her nape, leaned forward, and kissed her lips.

She was caught off guard, and by the time she reacted, the man ended the farewell kiss, smiling, "Go on, you’re going to be late."

Serena, still in a daze, mumbled a sound of acknowledgment and got off the car.

Elias watched her slightly muddled appearance, feeling an urge not to let her go to school, just wanting to take her home and tease her.

But then he thought about her persistence in attending school and decided not to bully her too hard, lest she run away.

Little did they know.

Serena was photographed getting out of a luxury car, and the picture was uploaded to the campus network.

Everyone was guessing.

Who could be so wealthy to drive a car worth tens of millions?

Furthermore, seeing Serena in the photo, they were even more stunned.

They couldn’t believe there was someone this beautiful at their school!

Serena looked soft and cute, dressed unusually, and her aura had profoundly changed.

Whereas before she seemed like a poor servant, now she appeared like a young lady from a prestigious family.

Everyone was speculating about which affluent family she was a heiress to.

Very quickly, a classmate from Serena’s former class discovered the photo on the campus network.

She then commented below it.

[This is Serena Yeats from our old class; she took a year off school!]

[Is she the Serena from dorm 302 who was... by someone?]

[Wasn’t she expelled after being kept by someone?]

[How is she back if she was expelled?]

[What nonsense are you all saying? I heard Serena Yeats is Master Lancaster’s wife from Aethelgard!]

[Then why do people say she was kept by someone?]

[Who did you hear say she’s Master Lancaster’s wife, and how come some say they’re in a contract marriage!]

The time for the class was almost up, but they were still heatedly discussing this matter.

Nia Irving quickly sensed something amiss when she saw the photo online.

Seeing no malicious comments, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, Serena sensed her classmates looking at her with odd expressions.

She glanced at the screen of the student in front of her, discovering the situation.

She hurriedly took out her phone to check.

Nia took her phone, gesturing towards the teacher lecturing up front, indicating she should pay attention in class.

Then, Nia reported the situation to Lord Langdon.

Elias handled it swiftly.

By the time Serena finished class and checked her phone, all the information was gone from the campus network.

She looked at Nia, understanding it was Elias who resolved the matter.

Initially, when she saw it on her classmates’ phones, her immediate thought was to cry, unaware of how to deal with it.

Fortunately, she had Elias; he managed it promptly and appropriately.

Yet, reflecting on it, she realized how weak she was and vowed to think first about handling things herself in the future, rather than being helpless.

She couldn’t rely entirely on Elias just because he was there, ignoring her own capacity to think of solutions.

In life, reliance on oneself is best.

Heading to another class, Serena had already adjusted her mindset.

Meanwhile, Nia and Reese Lancaster protected her carefully, preventing anyone from getting too close.

In the past, Serena would sit at the very back, the least conspicuous spot in the classroom.

But now, she unhesitatingly chose a seat right at the front.

However...

Despite Elias’s timely intervention, the photo on the campus network had been seen by many, and rumors were flying.

Some said Serena was kept by a prominent figure.

Others claimed she married into wealth.

Some speculated she was a missing heiress reclaimed by a wealthy family.

Even more, claimed Serena and Elias’s marriage was a contractual one!

In the meantime, whether familiar with her or not, her classmates looked at her differently due to the rumors.

Despite which rumor they believed, many wanted to befriend her for any potential benefit.

However, when they approached, they found two girls sitting on either side of Serena, looking formidable and not like students.

They appeared to be placed there intentionally to protect her.

Serena understood from their reactions and glances that many things had changed.

She paid them no mind, instead, pulling out her book to preview the content for the next class.

Serena knew that since Elias announced her status at the full moon party, everything changed.

Outside of school, she was publicly acknowledged as Elias Lancaster’s wife, known in both the business and political realms.

She neither disputed nor needed to dispute this status.

She truly liked Elias and wanted to be with him, along with their children.

This role was fine, but she wouldn’t let it prevent her from seizing opportunities to study hard.

Having this status didn’t make her arrogant; she would chart her own path conscientiously.

She intended to prove through her efforts that she, Serena Yeats, was the right companion for Elias Lancaster.

A moment later.

The teacher arrived for the class.
