Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Kicked Out of the Room
The Lancaster Family.
In her room, Serena Yeats was unwrapping gifts, surrounded by lots of them, with Nathan Sawyer accompanying her by her side.
In the living room downstairs, Old Madam Lancaster and Old Master Lancaster were entertaining several friends of Elias Lancaster.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the Lancaster family study was somewhat heavy.
Elias Lancaster handed the paternity test results to Old Master Keaton.
With trembling hands, Old Master Keaton received them, pondering for a long while before opening to see the result.
He mumbled shakily, "Found it, found it."
Elias Lancaster had a somewhat serious expression. He had no right to prevent Serena Yeats from going home; he would respect her choice and accompany her.
But the current situation was a bit special.
"Master Keaton, I have something I’d like to discuss with you."
Old Master Keaton acknowledged softly.
Elias Lancaster continued, "Serena’s current situation is special. To be safe, I want to wait until she has delivered the child before gradually telling her about these matters."
Old Master Keaton said, "I need to know everything that has happened to her over the years."
"Alright, take a look at these." Elias Lancaster placed the prepared information in front of Old Master Keaton.
Old Master Keaton nodded.
Then he seemed to have thought of something, looking at Elias Lancaster, "Our Minnie and the marriage agreement with the Grayson family..."
Elias Lancaster frowned slightly.
He hadn’t yet figured out a solution when he was interrupted by the sound of ringing.
He glanced at it; it was Serena Yeats.
He quickly answered, speaking gently, "Serena, have you finished unwrapping the gifts?"
"Can’t finish, just can’t finish at all." Serena Yeats yawned and said, "Elias, I’m sleepy."
"Alright, I’ll come over right away."
Elias Lancaster hung up the phone and looked at Old Master Keaton, "Serena is sleepy, I’ll accompany her to rest, and someone will send you home later."
Old Master Keaton glanced at the information in his hand, then waved his hand dismissively.
First, Elias Lancaster went downstairs to the living room and greeted them all.
"Serena is sleepy; you guys carry on, and I’ll go accompany her to rest. If you wish to leave later, there will be drivers to take you home. If you don’t want to go back, have someone prepare the rooms, and rest here."
"Master Lancaster, you’re valuing beauty over friendship!" Theodore Lynch teased him.
"Exactly, we even gave up spending New Year’s with our families to support you." The others chimed in agreement.
Elias Lancaster swept a glance at them, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
"You’ve got no wives, so you don’t understand."
He then turned and went upstairs.
Everyone exchanged glances, understanding each other in silence, then continued drinking happily.
Entering the room, Elias Lancaster found Serena Yeats fighting to keep her eyes open, yawning frequently.
Seeing him come in, Nathan Sawyer quickly got up, "President Lancaster, Serena is all yours. I hope you treat her well, or else I won’t let you get away with it."
Upon finishing, she dashed out of the room as if fleeing.
Serena Yeats, still a little dazed, watched him walk over, tilted her head back, opened her arms with a smile, and said, "Elias, hug."
Elias was charmed by this half-asleep manner of hers. He reached out to lift her from the carpet and place her on the bed.
"If you’re sleepy, why not sleep?" Elias gently kissed her forehead.
"Waiting for you!" Serena hugged his neck, pulling herself up to directly kiss his lips.
Elias’s heart pounded as if it were about to leap out.
He gently pushed Serena aside, glancing down at her belly, sighing involuntarily.
His wife was too enticing; it was pure torture. If not for his strong will, he’d have lost control already.
Yet Serena wouldn’t relent; clear eyes meeting Elias’s deep gaze, her heart raced, feeling a soft, addictive tension.
Elias’s lips slowly closed the gap.
She gently closed her eyes, voluntarily offering up her lips.
Lips and teeth intertwined, perfectly fitting, making them believe they had truly found their destined partner.
The two were lost in their embrace.
"Boom..."
The door burst open, Elias’s first instinct was to shield the person in his arms.
Then he looked towards the entrance of the room.
Only to find his mother storming in angrily, yanking him up furiously.
"You’re thirty now, and can’t control yourself? Don’t you realize Serena’s situation is special right now?" Old Madam Lancaster scolded while pushing Elias out of the room.
"Starting tonight, you’ll sleep in the guest room."
Serena pulled the quilt over herself, mortified.
And Elias got pushed all the way out until the door shut, before snapping back to reality.
He looked helplessly at the closed door.
Internally, he grumbled: I didn’t intend to do anything, just wanted some cuddling and kissing.
"Pfft...hahaha..."
Behind him came waves of laughter.
With a stern face, Elias turned to glare at them.
Especially Brandon Grayson, his gaze was as sharp as daggers.
Brandon inexplicably felt a hint of danger.
Theodore Lynch stepped up, placing a hand on Elias’s shoulder.
"Who would’ve thought, the esteemed Master Lancaster, kicked out of the room on the night of his proposal. Looks like you’re spending the night alone!"
A round of laughter followed.
Talking and laughing, everyone headed downstairs for drinks.
Reminiscing about funny moments from their study abroad days.
Elias Lancaster’s change was most noticeable to these close childhood friends of his. Ever since Serena Yeats came into his life, Elias, who used to be distant, now smiled, sometimes his smiles even carried genuine emotions.
Meanwhile, Nathan Sawyer, once again meeting Brandon Grayson, her arranged date, was observing this man attentively.
Looks, he’s fine; as for his manners, he’s quite polite.
Elias caught a glimpse of Nathan Sawyer, then Brandon Grayson, knowing about their arranged date.
He had set it up right after receiving the paternity test results because of the marriage agreement between the Grayson family and the J Keaton family.
Now, looking at Nathan’s gaze towards Brandon Grayson, there seemed to be potential.
"I heard you had a blind date with Miss Sawyer, she’s my sister-in-law’s best friend. What do you think?" Theodore Lynch raised an eyebrow, asking Brandon.
"Not that great." Brandon Grayson replied casually.
Nathan Sawyer was speechless internally.
What does he mean by ’not that great’?
What’s wrong with her? What’s with his eyes?
She felt awkward with this group of men around, but decorum couldn’t be neglected.
She stepped forward, grabbed a cup.
"You all chat away, I have to help Serena with the gifts tomorrow, so I’m off to rest." After saying that, she shot back the drink she’d poured.
Before Brandon Grayson could stop her, she had already downed it.
Nathan, after drinking, smacked her lips twice, finding it sweet, fruity, pretty tasty, placed the cup down, and followed the servant up to the guest room.
As she neared the room, she started feeling dizzy.
The servant noticed her unease and reached out to support her.
"No need, I’m fine. You can rest now, I know which room it is." Nathan said.
The servant acknowledged and left.
Nathan glanced at the word on the door; each guest room had a significant word on the door. On the way up, the servant had told her the room’s name.
Feeling dazed, she looked at the name on the door, "Cottonwood," seemingly this was the one.
She pushed the door open, closed it, then went to freshen up, feeling dizzier, slipped into a bathrobe and collapsed onto the bed.
No idea how much time had passed.
She felt the other side of the bed dip, a warm body snuggling closer.
