Chapter 154: Chapter 30 Master, You’ve Made It, Please Look After Your Poor Disciple
The question was so abrupt that it left him stunned for a few seconds. However, he quickly recovered. Stroking her head, he said tenderly, "I’ve never used any protection. Don’t you know what that means?"
Huh? Is that so? It was true, they had never used protection. She’d always thought he just found it uncomfortable or wasn’t in the habit. Afterward, she was always the one to buy and take the pill. To think that was all for nothing... Had she been gilding the lily this whole time?
Hearing her words, Sun Dasheng’s heart ached for her as he caressed her face. Such a well-behaved and sensible woman.
"Then I don’t need to take the pills anymore?" Wu Xiaoli asked cautiously.
Sun Dasheng pinched her cheek and gave her an affirmative nod. "Those pills are bad for your body. You won’t need to take them anymore. If you get pregnant, we’ll have the baby. It’s not like I can’t afford to raise a child."
"Thank you!" She hugged his face and began to kiss him passionately.
A bout of joyful activity began anew.
After a long while, the two bodies parted. Seeing her arching her hips high into the air, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
"What are you doing?"
Wu Xiaoli was dead serious. "I learned it from my moms’ group. They said it increases the chances of conception."
"Really? Is that actually scientific?" Sun Dasheng was skeptical.
"I don’t know if it’s scientific, but all those moms swear by it, so it must do something," Wu Xiaoli asserted confidently.
"When did you join a moms’ group?" Sun Dasheng asked.
Wu Xiaoli’s eyes darted away.
Sun Dasheng understood. This girl has wanted a child for a long time. She’s been planning ahead.
He didn’t blame her, though. Her former in-laws had made her suffer a great deal over her inability to have children. Now that she knew the fertility issues weren’t her fault, she was still influenced by the past and desperately wanted a child of her own. A person’s environment truly can shape them in subtle ways.
A sound came from the living room. Mother Wu was probably back. She had given them ample time, little did she know the two were so playful that the once-plentiful time had become just barely enough.
Sun Dasheng decided it was time to leave. After all, they didn’t have a formal relationship, and it wouldn’t be right to stay the night with an elder in the house.
Wu Xiaoli didn’t try to make him stay. She just remained in the same position on the bed, playing on her phone.
"Da Sheng, you’re leaving? Won’t you stay and chat a little longer?" Mother Wu asked, politely trying to get him to stay.
Sun Dasheng politely declined. "No, thank you for your hospitality today, Auntie. I’ll be going now."
Shortly after he left, Mother Wu hurried to her daughter’s door and knocked.
"Mom, what is it? I was already asleep," her daughter’s tired voice called from inside the room.
She must be exhausted from earlier,
Mother Wu thought, getting the hint. Some things can be discussed later. I should let my daughter rest for now."It’s nothing, I was just checking if you were asleep. You should get some rest."
Mother Wu’s footsteps faded down the hall.
Wu Xiaoli breathed a sigh of relief and resumed her previous position. No matter what, I have to be the first one to get pregnant with Brother Sun’s child, she thought.
「The No. 1 Courtyard Apartment.」
The huge apartment was empty and quiet, lacking its usual liveliness without the three girls. He wondered when their school would start. Why hadn’t they come back yet?
He asked in their four-person WeChat group.
[Li Sili: Uncle, I’ll be back in Shanghai City tomorrow!]
[Yun Yuqing: I’ll also arrive tomorrow, Uncle.]
[Fang Sihan: Hehe, what a coincidence, I’m arriving tomorrow too.]
You three girls definitely have another group chat, don’t you? It’s like you planned this all out.
"Around what time tomorrow?" he asked.
All three gave the same answer: [Tomorrow evening!]
"Alright, I’ll come pick you up. High-speed train or plane?"
[High-speed train]
Since they weren’t in a hurry, the high-speed train was the obvious choice. He closed WeChat and put his phone away. Time for bed.
「The next day.」
He slept until he woke up naturally. He went out for a morning run, had breakfast, and then prepared to head back to the office. On the way, he received an unexpected call.
"TADA! Master, I bet you didn’t expect it was me, did you?" a carefree laugh boomed from the other end.
"You have the nerve to laugh? You wished me a happy new year and then hung up after just a few words?"
"Oh, sorry, Master! I was just so busy over the new year. I had to carve out a moment just to wish you a happy new year. I couldn’t help it."
"Busy with what? Life-changing events?"
"Oh, Master, you really hit the nail on the head! You have no idea how crazy the holiday was. My relatives introduced me to tons of potential dates. I was basically running a gauntlet, seeing three or four guys a day. It nearly killed me." The girl was as straightforward as ever. "This New Year’s holiday almost made me depressed. Thank god it’s finally over," she said, letting out a long sigh.
"Did you find anyone you liked?" Sun Dasheng asked.
Her tone immediately turned defensive. "’If you found someone you like, it would be great to stay and build a life in the Capital,’ right?" she said, her voice dripping with mimicry. "Master, why do you sound just like my parents? Do all you adults think the same way? That young people have to get married and start a family? That we can’t just live on our own?"
The string of questions made it clear how upset she really was.
"Heh heh... You don’t need to tell me all that. I’m just a divorced old man, after all."
His words stopped her dead in her tracks. After a moment of silence, she spoke.
"Master, I’m sorry."
"Sorry for what?" Sun Dasheng said nonchalantly. "Afraid I’ve got a glass heart? I came to terms with it a long time ago. You don’t need to apologize."
It sounded like she patted her chest in relief. "That’s good. I was worried you were going to scold me."
"Oh? Have I ever scolded you?"
"Well, no, but you don’t know this, Master. When you get angry, the look on your face is terrifying."
