Chapter 1653: Chapter 814: Bringing the Blood-Horned Deer Back to the Alliance!
They looked around, seemingly searching for traces of Luo Chen and Qing Shuang.
“Strange, I clearly saw them heading this way earlier,” the man in red frowned and said.
“Boss, could it be that we saw it wrong?” one of the subordinates asked.
“Impossible, I saw them walking this way with those Blood Antler Deer,” the man in red insisted.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang listened nervously to the conversation outside from inside the cave; they knew that any carelessness might lead to their discovery.
“We need to think of a way to make them leave,” Qing Shuang whispered to Luo Chen.
Luo Chen thought for a moment, then took out a small magic artifact from his waist and began chanting a curse softly.
The magic artifact started emitting a faint glow, and Luo Chen gently tossed it outside the cave.
“What’s that?” The man in red noticed the glow of the magic artifact and curiously walked over to check it out.
“Boss, be careful of traps!” a subordinate reminded.
“What is there to fear? I want to see what this thing is,” the man in red said dismissively as he walked towards the magic artifact.
The man in red cautiously picked up the magic artifact from the ground and examined it carefully.
He seemed curious about the strange glow, yet did not realize it could be part of Luo Chen and Qing Shuang’s strategy.
“This thing looks interesting, might be worth some money,” the man in red muttered to himself, completely oblivious to the nervous expressions of his subordinates.
“Boss, we should leave here quickly, don’t fall into someone else’s trap,” a subordinate reminded again.
Impatiently, the man in red waved his hand, “Stop nagging, I know what I’m doing. You guys, search around and see if there’s anything suspicious.”
The subordinates reluctantly dispersed and began searching around the cave.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang held their breath inside the cave, waiting nervously.
Time passed by slowly, and the sound of searching outside gradually faded away.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang exchanged a glance, knowing this was their chance.
“We need to leave now,” Luo Chen whispered.
Qing Shuang nodded, and the two of them quietly led the horses and the cage out of the cave.
They cautiously avoided the searching enemies and quickly headed in the direction of the Alliance.
After some rapid travel, Luo Chen and Qing Shuang finally left the group far behind them.
They slowed down to let the horses rest, checking the Blood Antler Deer Spiritual Beasts in the cage to make sure they were not frightened.
“Looks like we’re safe for now,” Luo Chen breathed a sigh of relief.
Qing Shuang also smiled slightly, “Yes, but we can’t let our guard down, we need to return to the Alliance as soon as possible.”
They continued on their journey, being even more careful along the way.
Finally, by dusk, they reached a valley.
This valley, although not very large,
seemed like a relatively safe place.
Such a place could provide a good night’s rest for Luo Chen and Qing Shuang, along with the party of Blood Antler Deer they’ve captured.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang found a relatively concealed spot in the valley where they decided to spend the night.
The fresh air and peaceful environment of the valley were soothing, but Luo Chen and Qing Shuang knew they could not relax their vigilance.
“Qing Shuang, you go rest first, I’ll keep watch,” Luo Chen said to Qing Shuang.
Qing Shuang shook her head, “No, Luo Chen, we’ll take turns keeping watch, you’ve been very tired during the day, I’ll take the first shift.”
Luo Chen, knowing Qing Shuang’s insistence, did not argue further.
He nodded, found a stone to sit on, and closed his eyes to rest.
Qing Shuang picked up a sword and stood silently at the entrance of the valley, vigilantly observing the surroundings.
As the night deepened, the temperature in the valley began to drop.
Qing Shuang tightened the cloak around her, knowing the mountains would get even colder at night.
She glanced back occasionally at Luo Chen, ensuring he wasn’t affected by the cold.
“Qing Shuang, are you cold?” Luo Chen’s voice suddenly spoke from behind her.
Qing Shuang turned around and saw that Luo Chen was already awake, looking at her with concern.
“I’m fine, Luo Chen. How did you rest?” Qing Shuang asked.
“I’m good, you worked hard on the watch,” Luo Chen said, walking over to Qing Shuang’s side.
“Luo Chen, do you think we can really complete this task smoothly?” Qing Shuang asked somewhat worriedly.
Luo Chen gently patted Qing Shuang on the shoulder, “Don’t worry, we’ve prepared so much, we definitely can, and besides, we have each other, right?”
Qing Shuang nodded; she knew Luo Chen’s words always brought her comfort and strength.
It was a deep night, and apart from the occasional sound of insects, everything in the valley was unusually quiet.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang took turns keeping watch until the first light of dawn appeared in the sky.
The morning sun cast its light on the valley, and Luo Chen and Qing Shuang packed their belongings, preparing to continue their journey.
After checking the Blood Antler Deer Spiritual Beasts in the cage to ensure they were unharmed, they set off on their way back.
On their journey, Luo Chen and Qing Shuang took turns riding and leading the horses to prevent them from becoming overly fatigued.
They tried to avoid the main roads, choosing to travel along paths to reduce the chance of encountering enemies.
“Luo Chen, look over there!” Qing Shuang suddenly pointed towards the forest ahead, her voice tinged with tension.
Luo Chen looked in the direction Qing Shuang was pointing to see a group of people in black at the forest’s edge, seemingly waiting for something.
“Looks like they’ve found us,” Luo Chen said with a frown.
Qing Shuang tightened her grip on her sword, “What should we do?”
