Chapter 664: The Mystery Moon Detective Agency
Three days later, Evelyn learned her final exam scores.
She scored a gratifying 113 out of a possible 150 on the comprehensive test paper. Based on her usual practice, this could be considered an above-average performance.
Since the test paper went with Roland to the Longsong district for inspection, Wendy was the one who informed her of the score. She also patted Evelyn on the shoulder, encouraging her with a smile, "You did a good job. Princess Tilly will be very happy to hear about this. Keep up the good work."
"I will continue to work hard!" Evelyn nodded vigorously and turned to find Candle, "What was your score?"
"Ninety-one, I finally passed," Candle laughed, "Seeing how happy you look, you must have done very well, right?"
"Yes!" She couldn't help but raise the corners of her mouth, "One hundred and thirteen!"
"Really? That score is probably close to Lucia and the others!" Candle said in surprise, "Should I go ask for you?"
"No need, they must have scored better," Evelyn waved her hand, "I just need to know Maggie's score."
Perhaps her next goal could be Lily or Lucia, she thought to herself. Her ability was indeed poor, but that was innate, and there was nothing she could do to change it. However, she didn't want to lose to anyone in learning, something that required effort to improve and where even ordinary people could become charming.
She also wanted to become a knowledgeable person like Roland.
After class, Evelyn found Maggie, but the other party's answer made her not believe her ears, "Goo goo goo - I scored one hundred and seventeen goo!"
How could this be possible?
She stood there stunned, not recovering until Maggie had left for a long time.
"How could this be possible? Did Juan miscalculate her score?" For a moment, Evelyn thought she heard her own thoughts. She blinked her eyes and realized that it was Mystery Moon who had happened to hear it and was also looking puzzled.
"What's impossible," Lily rolled her eyes at her, "Don't suspect others just because you scored poorly, okay?"
"But I was sitting in front of her," Mystery Moon argued reasonably, "When collecting the papers, I saw that she had large blank spaces with drawings of honey-glazed jerky."
"Are you sure?" Lily frowned.
"I guarantee it with my electromagnetic power!"
"Ha... that's not convincing at all," she shrugged, turned to leave, but was grabbed by Mystery Moon.
"Wait, I'm telling the truth! How about this, let's investigate."
"No interest," Lily pouted, "If you really think it's strange, just wait for Juan to come back and ask."
"That wouldn't be exploratory," Mystery Moon looked like she was afraid the world wouldn't be in chaos, "Evelyn, let us help you find out the truth!"
"Don't count me in!"
"What happened?" Candle also gathered around.
Evelyn hesitated for a moment, and told them everything she didn't understand.
"Well... if we want to investigate, what should we do?" Candle stroked Evelyn's head, "Teacher Juan will probably be gone for several days, right?"
"Now that His Majesty and Nightingale are not here, I won't let you sneak into the office," Lily glared at Mystery Moon fiercely, "Don't think I don't know what you want to do."
"Steal the test paper? I'm not that stupid," Mystery Moon shook her finger, "Just find the place where Juan looks at the papers."
"You mean..." Candle's eyes lit up.
"Just call Asha," she smiled triumphantly.
Evelyn immediately understood Mystery Moon's plan. Letting Asha recall the illusion of Juan grading Maggie's paper would indeed find the answer. "But... Teacher Juan usually grades the papers in the City Hall. Wouldn't it be bad if we went there?"
"What's bad about it? It's a place where everyone in Neverwinter can come and go freely, of course we can go too," Mystery Moon shouted, "It's not His Majesty's office, and someone doesn't need to worry for nothing."
"I have to remind you," Lily said unmoved, "Ordinary people can only enter the lobby of the City Hall. The Ministry of Education's office is on the second floor. Do you think those officials will let us pass casually?"
"Uh, this..." Mystery Moon was immediately speechless.
"Forget it if it doesn't work," Evelyn began to back down. She didn't want to cause trouble for everyone, "I'll just wait a few more days."
"No, I have a method that might solve it," Candle stroked her chin.
……
Candle's method was simple, it was to bring Nana Pine along. According to her, since Asha was already called, it wouldn't hurt to bring one more.
And the facts proved that this method was indeed effective.
Evelyn was stunned by the popularity of Nana Pine. The next day, as soon as she entered the City Hall, she was greeted with enthusiasm and was not stopped from going anywhere. Probably because the image of the little angel was too deeply rooted in people's hearts, or because her father was a noble personally commended by His Majesty and had a good reputation in the Border Region, in short, the group entered the Ministry of Education's office without any effort.
The room was empty.
Unless there was a meeting, few teachers would come here.
"We're in!" Mystery Moon said excitedly, "Let's start recalling!"
"Is this... really okay?" Asha said somewhat nervously, "This is a place where only officials can come."
"Officials are nothing special. Hummingbird is still the Deputy Minister of Construction," Mystery Moon patted her chest, "Don't worry, as long as we don't tell anyone, Juan definitely won't mind us sitting in her office."
"If the truth is that you're lying, I promise I'll tell Juan." Lily snorted.
"Didn't you say you weren't coming?"
"Cough... I, I'm here to watch you, to prevent you from making a big mistake, understand?"
Looking at the two arguing, Evelyn suddenly felt that her decision might have been a mistake.
In the end, Candle persuaded Asha. When the illusion appeared in the office, everyone held their breath.
Juan's time to grade the papers was obvious. It must have been the day between the end of the exam and the trip to Longsong. Using fast flashing, she quickly found this scene.
Everyone crowded behind "Juan" in unison.
As long as the time interval was not too long, Asha could maintain the illusion for a quarter of an hour. Before long, Evelyn saw Maggie's paper.
"See, I wasn't lying!" Mystery Moon shouted.
"..." Lily couldn't help but frown.
There were indeed large blank spaces on the test paper. Except for the easier fill-in-the-blanks and answer questions in the front, almost nothing was written in the back involving calculations. Moreover, there were drawings of grilled meat under some questions. Even "Juan" couldn't help but shake her head with a chuckle.
Obviously, this answer sheet could not be 117 points.
Could it be that Maggie was lying? Evelyn thought.
