Chapter 255: Welcoming Ceremony

The rainstorm came quickly and left just as fast.

The group set off the day after the rain stopped, and the ship responsible for taking them to Graycastle was none other than the Dainty Beauty.

Sylvie leaned against the ship's railing, took a piece of beef jerky from her cloth bag, and waved it above her head.

"Ooooh—ooooh—"

A huge seagull descended from the sky with a cry, the airflow from its wings causing her to squint. The jerky in her hand was snatched away in one bite. When she looked up, the seagull had already returned to the front of the sailboat, continuing to lead the way in the vast sea.

This was what Maisie had asked her to do, because when transformed into a bird, she couldn't take out the jerky to eat herself.

Although she looked no different from an ordinary seagull at this time (except for her size), Sylvie could see the magic power surging within her body and her true form. If one looked closely, they could also observe the process of magic power gathering from all directions, then transforming into spots of light and disappearing into nothingness.

"I heard that she can not only transform into different birds, but also gain the corresponding abilities?" Someone marveled behind her. "As far as I know, seagulls never get lost at sea, and can even sense the approach of storms in advance."

"Indeed, Captain," Sylvie knew who it was without turning around. "Otherwise, we wouldn't have dared to choose a new route, bypassing Endless Cape and landing in the southwest of Graycastle."

Her ability not only allowed her to observe the flow and changes of magic power, but also gave her a wide field of vision without blind spots. She could observe the movements around her at any time—and obstacles couldn't block the extension of her sight. She could even see the sailors sleeping lazily below deck, and the schools of fish swimming past the bottom of the ship.

"Is there a port there?" Captain Jack spat out a puff of smoke. "I remember that explorers once went to the west side of Endless Cape, but there was nothing there except cliffs and beaches."

"No port is for the best," Sylvie said nonchalantly. "That way everyone can return the way they came."

"Wouldn't that be a wasted trip?" The captain shook his pipe. "I was rather looking forward to seeing something different on this new route."

This trip was at the request of Tilly, to contact another witch gathering place for friendship and mutual assistance. In addition to the five selected female witches on board, there were also Ashes and Moriel—but they were not going ashore, just to ensure the voyage was foolproof. Moriel's magic servants could help the ship resist storms, and Ashes could ensure that any pirates who targeted the ship would have no return.

And she also had another responsibility, which was to identify the true identity of Roland Wimbledon for Tilly.

Before departure, Tilly had explained the reasons in detail to her, and instructed her one by one on the possible outcomes and how to deal with them. Simply put, it was to reach an agreement with the leader of the Witch Cooperation Association as much as possible to exchange Roland's true body. But to be honest, Sylvie always felt that this task would not be so easy to complete. It would be better if the Witch Cooperation Association didn't agree, but what if they didn't want the news to leak out and imprisoned themselves and the other four?

Through the walls of the cabin, watching Lian, Evelyn and others playing happily with the magic servants, she couldn't help but sigh.

She hoped that the witches of the Witch Cooperation Association were as enthusiastic and friendly as Maisie said.

...

After sailing at sea for nearly a week, Sylvie finally saw the hazy coastline.

"We're almost there," Honey shouted, leaning against the railing. A row of neatly standing petrels, ospreys and seagulls beside her also chirped in unison.

"Finally arrived..." Candlelight leaned against the railing with a haggard look. "I feel like I can't hold on any longer."

"This is only a temporary phenomenon, child. As soon as you get ashore, you will recover as before," Jack One-Eye laughed, holding up his spyglass. "I've been sailing for so many years, and I've never seen anyone die on a ship because of the bumps."

"Where's Maisie?" Honey asked.

"She has already flown to Border Town in advance to contact the witches of the Witch Cooperation Association," Ashes replied. "I believe they will send someone to pick you up soon."

"Sister Ashes, aren't you going with us?"

"Tilly needs my help more," Ashes smiled. "Don't worry, the witches of the Witch Cooperation Association will treat you like sisters... If you have any difficulties, find Wendy, she will definitely help you solve them as soon as possible."

Wendy, Sylvie silently kept this name in her heart.

"Oh, and one more thing," Ashes patted her forehead, "You must remember to stay away from the lord, Roland Wimbledon, and never be alone with him easily."

"Why? Isn't he Tilly's brother?" Evelyn asked puzzled.

"He is indeed," Ashes said seriously, "but that doesn't stop him from liking to touch witches' butts!"

Everyone gasped in unison.

The sailboat finally docked about half a mile from the beach, after all, there were no detailed nautical charts here, and no one knew how deep the water was near the beach. The way to go ashore was very simple, there was no need to launch even a landing craft. Moriel directly had her servants wrap the five of them, along with herself, and floated over from the sea.

This beach was obviously a part extending from the mountains, and had become a soft sandy beach under the continuous scouring of the sea. Not far away were towering mountains, completely separating the inland of Graycastle from the coast. The mountains were continuous, getting higher and higher towards the west, almost evolving into huge peaks similar to the Impassable Mountain Range at the end of the horizon.

After waiting for about an hour, Sylvie noticed a strange black shadow approaching.

Its volume was very large, about the size of the Dainty Beauty, and its round outline was obviously not a natural creation. Logically speaking, such a huge object should be extremely heavy, but its movement trajectory was quite smooth, as if it were floating in the air. She couldn't see it very clearly through the mountains and forests, but this thing was indeed constantly climbing, and would soon cross the mountains.

Soon, it revealed its true face from behind the obstacle.

"Oh my god, what is that?" Lian asked in surprise, staring at the sky in disbelief.

"Sister Ashes, have you seen this thing?" Evelyn tugged at her arm.

"No..." Ashes also looked a little surprised, "This is the first time I've seen this thing too."

"It seems this is how the Witch Cooperation Association welcomes us," Sylvie said with emotion.

A spherical object of astonishing size floated in the air, with a wicker basket hanging below. Maisie and another witch flew to the left and right, accompanying the hanging basket. What was eye-catching was that there was also a long yellow canvas hanging from the bottom of the basket, with huge words written on the cloth.

——Border Town welcomes you.
