Chapter 265: Chapter 265: Why Wasn’t That Woman You Back Then? (Part 1)
"Yes, save Baby, I need to save Baby." Raina murmured, pushing Leila aside and trying to enter the lab again, not listening to a single word of her advice.
Leila was in a panic, unsure of what to do when suddenly the door was pushed open.
A tall and slender figure quickly walked in from the entrance.
When Leila saw who it was, her eyes immediately lit up, and she said urgently, "President Hawthorne, you’ve finally arrived! Please, take a look at Raina; she hasn’t rested in three days."
Upon hearing this, Raina instinctively retorted, "That’s not true, stop talking nonsense."
As she spoke, she abruptly stood up, her vision suddenly went black, her legs went weak, unable to support her body, and she fell towards the ground.
Elias Hawthorne rushed over, pulling Raina into his embrace, feeling the light weight in his arms shocking him. Seeing her struggling to get down, he tightened his grip and said coldly, "Stay still, or don’t blame me for using force."
Raina furrowed her brows, "Elias Hawthorne, time is extremely precious right now, any waste is intolerable."
"Raina, you should understand that appropriate rest is the foundation for better efforts later. So, you need to rest now." Seeing Raina wanted to argue back, Elias added more sternly, "If you don’t understand that, I won’t hesitate to knock you out. If that’s the only way to make you rest, I won’t mind."
Raina looked up at Elias, seeing the determination in his eyes, she could only reluctantly concede.
She instructed, "Two hours maximum, you must wake me up."
"Okay."
Raina was somewhat skeptical, very seriously saying, "Elias Hawthorne, if you don’t keep your promise, I will never trust you again."
Elias was speechless, pinching her chin, "Raina, have you forgotten that Baby is my son too?"
"Uh..." Raina was embarrassed, "I actually forgot."
"..." Elias sighed, using his hand to cover Raina’s eyes, "Sleep now, quickly."
Raina murmured again, her body gradually relaxing, her consciousness swiftly slipping into endless darkness.
It wasn’t until the girl’s breathing became even that Elias took his hand away. He half-kneeled by the bed, looking at the heavy dark circles under Raina’s eyes and the frown that didn’t relax even in sleep, he whispered, "Why wasn’t that woman you back then?"
The only response was Raina’s long, steady breaths.
...
"Miss North! Sir is still resting, please wait, Miss North! Miss North!"
In the morning, the noise from outside the door was heard.
Vincent Hawthorne opened his eyes displeased, got dressed and stood up.
Just after he’d finished buttoning his shirt, the door was suddenly slammed open.
Claire North pushed past the housekeeper and barged into the room.
Vincent Hawthorne looked at the reckless Claire, frowning deeply, saying very displeased, "Entering an elder’s room without permission, is this the North Family’s upbringing?"
"Sorry! Uncle, it’s my fault, but I truly have an urgent matter."
Mrs. Hawthorne walked in from the room wearing her pajamas, taking one look at Claire before speaking, "Claire has always been a steady child; if she disregards etiquette, it must be something urgent, Vincent, you should let her speak."
Vincent Hawthorne took the hot tea handed over by Mrs. Hawthorne, sipped it, "Then go ahead and speak."
"Uncle, Baby is no longer in the medical room; Elias took him away and gave him to my sister!"
