Chapter 311: Chapter 311: She’s Really Not That Cheap (1)

"You saw through it. I thought I hid it well."

"I just feel like I’m not that important."

"You’re wrong. You’re very important." Wanda Woods joked, "At least if I took a half-month or twenty days off, the Master wouldn’t be in a hurry to call me back to work, as if afraid I’d run away."

Raina North shook her head helplessly, "That old man is just too suspicious."

Wanda smiled and simply said, "Next time the Master calls back, I’ll tell him you haven’t run away. That’ll make him happy."

"No running away; that old man has made thorough preparations. His granddaughter is still following me around."

Seeing Director Woods had no other matters, Raina said goodbye and continued her work.

Watching Raina’s serious demeanor, Wanda almost asked, "Who are you really?"

But when the words were on the tip of her tongue, she swallowed them back. After all, knowing everything wasn’t really necessary.

Raina got so busy that she missed lunch time. Checking the time, she thought Baby should receive the second dose of the antidote, so she called Wanda to ask for leave.

Once she understood Master Foster’s true attitude, Wanda’s attitude toward Raina changed. Her only principle was as long as Raina didn’t resign, everything was fine.

Just as Raina walked out of The Veridian Institute of Medicine, she saw Beau Shelby waiting at the door.

She hadn’t seen him for a few days.

This man, once the focus of all her affection and admiration, could no longer stir any emotion in Raina’s heart.

She cast a glance at him and then withdrew her gaze.

"Raina!"

Raina had just lifted her foot to walk when she heard someone calling her from behind.

She heard it.

But couldn’t be bothered to stop.

Yet, she ultimately couldn’t escape and was stopped by Beau Shelby.

Beau Shelby looked at her, slightly panting, "Raina, I was calling you just now."

"Sorry, I didn’t hear." Raina apologized, though her heart wasn’t really in it.

Beau Shelby frowned slightly, not wanting to dwell on such a trivial matter, and said seriously, "Raina, I want to talk to you."

"Talk about what?"

Beau Shelby: "Are you sure you want to talk here?"

"Can’t what you want to discuss be spoken about in public?"

"I think it’s better to be discreet; it’s better for you."

Raina looked at Beau Shelby, "Fine. Let’s talk in my car then."

Beau Shelby had initially wanted to refuse, but seeing Raina already walking over, he had no choice but to follow.

In the medical room.

Elias Hawthorne leaned against the hospital bed, a laptop on his lap, his slender fingers typing rapidly on the keyboard. Soon, the page transformed into the image outside The Veridian Institute of Medicine’s entrance, and he happened to see Raina get in the car with Beau Shelby following her.

Elias Hawthorne’s expression darkened slightly.

At that moment, his phone rang; it was Aidan Lynch calling.

Aidan said, "The gentleman just left and emphasized before leaving to have you capture the madam."

Elias Hawthorne replied coldly, "Don’t pay attention to him."

"I’m afraid ignoring him this time won’t work. The gentleman cares deeply about the little young master and won’t rest until he sees the little one safe and sound." Aidan thought for a moment and said, "How about letting the gentleman meet the little one?"

"No way." Though Raina hadn’t told him, from what Elias knew, these people had caused trouble multiple times and she wouldn’t let it go like this.

If he rashly intervened and ruined Raina’s plans, she’d surely be angry.

Thinking of those five large cups of eerily colored medicinal brew, Elias felt his stomach churn.

Elias Hawthorne would never admit that he was chickening out.
