Chapter 307: Chapter 307: Hand Over Baby (Part 1)
"Oh, it’s Chief Warren. So leisurely on a Monday morning, you’re quite fortunate. But, Chief Warren, you’re not the luckiest one; the luckiest should be your cousin Chloe Jarvis. How is she? Has she been resting well lately?"
Upon hearing Raina North’s words, Aaron Warren’s expression immediately twisted, as the tumultuous times he had been living through surged back.
Since Chloe Jarvis was dismissed, she hasn’t been able to find a more prestigious job than at The Veridian Institute of Medicine, so she’s been crying at The Warren Family every day over it.
His parents were already unhappy, and with Chloe’s tears, they were even more displeased with him.
Moreover, due to his frequent mistakes, much of his power had been usurped by rivals. Recalling the turbulent times, his old and new grievances against Raina North surged up together.
Even though he promised his parents to reconcile with Raina North, he couldn’t control the ferociousness on his face.
"Raina North, don’t be smug. Sooner or later, someone will take you down! When you end up begging at our Warren Family doorstep, I’ll definitely have the kitchen prepare an extra bun for you! Just fear you’ve done too much evil and won’t even get that chance!"
Raina North smiled faintly, "Thank you for your kindness, Chief Warren, but I probably won’t need the bun. However, Chief Warren, you might want to prepare some extra for yourself, so when you’re down and out, you won’t go hungry. After all, for someone like Chief Warren, who relies solely on his words, the risk is too high."
"Raina North!"
Raina North placed her finger on the fingerprint lock, and with a beep, the research room door opened, "Chief Warren, since there’s no love lost between us, I won’t invite you in for a chat."
"A chat? I doubt you’ll have the chance!" A stern rebuke echoed, and the crowd, initially buzzing with discussions, fell silent.
As they looked at the newcomer, everyone felt a chill of fear yet were unwilling to leave; such a spectacle wasn’t common.
Raina North heard the voice, turned to look, and was not surprised to see the middle-aged man striding over to her.
Vincent Hawthorne.
Though he wasn’t the Family Head of The Hawthorne or the one in charge of The Hawthorne Group, as a member of The Hawthorne Family and father to Elias Hawthorne, his status was exceptionally prestigious.
Even if he didn’t get along with his two sons, he doted on Baby, and Vincent Hawthorne was indeed the highest-ranking, most powerful weapon Claire North could find.
This time, Claire North really spared no effort to try to get rid of her.
It seems Claire North truly wants her dead.
Alright then, since that’s the case, she couldn’t always avoid it, letting them put on a solo performance — that would be quite impolite!
"Mr. Hawthorne, is there something you need me for?"
"Still playing dumb!" Vincent Hawthorne stormed over, shouting harshly, "You vile woman, daring to drug Baby, you’re audacious!"
With that, he raised his hand for a slap.
Seeing this, Claire North, who was following behind, couldn’t hide the excitement in her eyes and cheered inwardly.
Hit her!
Hit her hard!
But she was disappointed.
Raina North grabbed Vincent Hawthorne’s wrist and looked at him with a smirk, "Mr. Hawthorne, you’re not here to tell me you often greet people with a slap, are you? If that’s the case, you’ll have to change. Since you’re here to see me, you’ll have to follow my rules."
Vincent Hawthorne forcefully tried to retract his wrist but found he couldn’t break free at all. When he saw the mocking glint in Raina North’s eyes, his face flushed red with anger, and his whole body trembled uncontrollably, "Insolent! Raina North, you’re overly insolent! Do you really think there’s no one who can stop you?"
