Chapter 489: Chapter 489: Break Three Legs (Part 1)

Gideon North sighed: "Isn’t it because if you refuse to admit your mistake, the old man won’t have the surgery? If something bad truly happens to him, you and I will be the sinners. By then, the second family’s members might eat us alive, and even those clansmen of The North Family would probably not let us off easily."

Brenda Adler stiffened her neck and gritted her teeth: "Even then, I will not kneel and kowtow to Raina!"

Claire North understood, and she was utterly shocked: "Are you saying that my grandpa is demanding that Mum apologizes to Raina by kneeling, or else he won’t have the surgery."

"That’s right!" Brenda Adler’s face was twisted in anger: "I really don’t know what kind of poison Raina fed the old man for him to come up with such a crazy idea! After all, I raised her for eighteen years. Having to kneel to her, isn’t that shortening my lifespan?"

Gideon North didn’t know how to communicate with his wife, so he could only turn to Claire North: "You should persuade your mother. This stalemate isn’t solving anything, and the old man’s health can’t hold on for much longer."

Brenda Adler sneered, looking at Gideon North; after all, Claire is her daughter.

"Mum, I understand that Raina is outrageous and excessive, but ultimately Grandpa’s life is more important. Mum, even if you really yield to Raina, nobody will mock you; in fact, they’ll respect you."

Brenda Adler’s smile on her face suddenly cracked. She looked at her daughter in disbelief: "Claire, what do you mean by this? You agree with this? I have given you my heart and everything as your real mother! Do you really have the heart to let that jinx Raina humiliate me?"

But if Brenda Adler refuses to yield and Raina doesn’t proceed with the surgery for the old man, how can she make Raina fall from grace!

Claire North suppressed her inner feelings tightly, showing discomfort on her face: "Mum. I know asking you to do this is wronging you, but Dad also has a point. If something truly happens to Grandpa, we will bear all the guilt. You’ve always been dutiful; please think of it as a sacrifice for Grandpa."

"Claire, you..." Brenda Adler was too angry to speak, clutching her chest and panting heavily. After a long while, she gritted her teeth and said: "Fine, fine, you’re my good daughter indeed! All these years, I’ve cared for you for nothing!"

Claire North’s eyes suddenly turned red, calling out in grievance: "Mum, how can you say that? I have no other choice. Otherwise, let’s wait until Grandpa wakes up, and I will go ask him. Let me take the knee. I’ll kneel and beg Raina, okay? Do you like that better?"

Brenda Adler glared at Claire North. She had countless words to scold Claire North and a heap of things to say about how much she had sacrificed for her daughter.

But when these words reached her lips, she couldn’t utter even one.

After a long silence, she finally bowed her head in defeat: "Forget it, forget it, since you both insist, what can I say."

She couldn’t say anything else, or else if something really happened to the old man, she would be the worst sinner.

"Kneel if you must, as long as Raina can accept it!"

The Prosperity Gardens Apartment, Raina North is squatting on the balcony, transplanting the herbs she had cultivated. Just recently, three little rascals and the silly husky were fighting in the room, causing the lush herbs she painstakingly raised to be knocked over onto the floor.

Raina was furious, surveying the four creatures in time-out with cold eyes, and said in a chilling tone: "If anyone dares to move, I’ll break their third leg!"

Casper North, Baby Hawthorne, and the silly husky simultaneously clamped their legs.

Shea thought about it, twisted his waist, and made a face at Baby Hawthorne and Casper North.

"Shea!" Raina’s sinister voice sounded.

Shea: "Mummy, I don’t have a third leg, you know."
