Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Dead as a Doornail! (Part 1)
In the hotel.
Raina was on the phone with Leila Foster.
"Raina, I just had a chat with Grandpa, and he said he’ll be in Southgate by noon tomorrow. Once he’s back, we’ll immediately arrange a press conference to clear your name."
Leila was still in a daze, amazed that the approachable Raina turned out to be such a big shot. Even when Grandpa said it himself, she still found it hard to believe.
It’s not that she doubted Raina; having been around her for so long, Leila was well aware of how capable she was.
Leila just didn’t expect someone as important as Raina to be so down-to-earth.
"This isn’t urgent. Let old Mr. Foster take a good rest for a couple of days first. Those people have been hopping around and putting on quite the show for so long. We should let them enjoy themselves a bit more, otherwise, they’ll be too busy nursing their wounds afterward to laugh again."
Leila thought Raina made a good point and sincerely said, "Raina, you’re really too nice. They’ve bullied you so much, yet you’re still thinking about their happiness."
Raina could hear the sincerity in the young girl’s words; clearly, she truly believed Raina was a very good person.
Raina couldn’t help but chuckle.
What a lovable young girl.
Just after hanging up with Leila, a video call from Casper North came in: "Raina, reliable sources say there are now over a hundred people gathered outside the police station with signs, demanding that you be thrown in jail."
"I know," Raina said casually and asked, "Has my whereabouts been leaked?"
"That small matter’s been handled long ago. That bastard Wang has been spending money everywhere to track you down. He probably can’t hold back now. Raina, you’d better be prepared."
Raina squinted her eyes: "Prepared? For dealing with such a small fry, I need to be prepared? You cheeky brat, who are you insulting?"
Casper slapped his mouth: "I misspoke, I misspoke. Raina, have fun."
"Alright, you can leave."
"Yes, ma’am."
After Casper hung up, Raina changed her clothes, took her phone, and left the room.
She took the elevator to a room upstairs.
Raina poured herself a glass of red wine, pulled up a chair on the balcony, and leisurely drank while enjoying the breeze.
Bang—
Suddenly, the window was knocked on.
Raina looked over at the sound and saw Elias Hawthorne lying outside the window, one hand on the window ledge, the other knocking on the glass.
Raina was so startled she almost spilled her wine. She stood up from the chair and quickly walked over.
Through the window, Elias mouthed, "Open the window."
Raina pointed at the window: "Open?"
Elias nodded.
Raina put her hand on the window and then suddenly sneered, "Dream on, you can hang out there! Aren’t you fond of hanging around?"
With that, she turned and sat back in the chair.
Elias: "..."
Seeing that Raina had no intention of opening the window, Elias had to find a way to open it himself. He exerted a little force, easily jumping inside with a suave and dashing move.
Unfortunately, no one appreciated it, as he saw Raina leisurely sitting there and couldn’t help but complain, "Heartless woman, aren’t you afraid I’ll fall?"
"I thought you weren’t afraid of death," Raina replied coolly, pausing before she couldn’t help but say, "This is the twentieth floor. If you fall, you’ll end up a bloody mess, dead without a doubt!"
Elias chuckled, "Woman, are you worried about me?"
Raina couldn’t help but roll her eyes, "What do you mean ’woman, woman’—don’t I have a name? And I’m not worried about you; I’m afraid of drawing attention from others!"
Elias raised an eyebrow: "Alright, my mistake. I shouldn’t have called you that, definitely not appropriate. Honey, darling, sweetheart, Mrs.—which name do you prefer? I can call you any of them."
