Ma La Ji Chi

Chapter 1 The Dragon Returns to the City

Rongcheng Prison.

As one of the highest-level prisons, it housed inmates of considerable status.

Even an unremarkable old man might have been a high-ranking official before entering.

There were too many extraordinary individuals here; recounting their stories individually would likely take three days.

On this day, the plaza of Rongcheng Prison was filled with people.

"Alright, no need to see me off. You can all go back," Du Fei said, waving his hand to them.

"Little Fei, I, Luo Yinghui, will never forget your life-saving grace. If you encounter any trouble outside, call the number I gave you."

"Du Fei, this card is a token of my appreciation. Please don't refuse. Have a safe journey."

"Brother Fei, once I'm out, I'll follow you."

...

The crowd spoke in turn, the atmosphere incredibly fervent.

"Time's up. Come with me," a uniformed man said courteously to Du Fei.

Du Fei turned and raised his hand high.

Behind him, the crowd also waved goodbye to him in unspoken accord.

Upon reaching the prison exit, a stern-faced middle-aged man, exuding an aura of authority, was already waiting.

Seeing Du Fei approach, a smile appeared on the middle-aged man's face.

Du Fei smiled and walked towards him. "Brother Zhang, thank you for your care over the past two years. This prescription is something I figured out myself. One dose daily not only completely cures your mother's chronic illness but also prolongs life."

"Thank you."

The middle-aged man was Zhang Yong, the warden of Rongcheng Prison, known for his unyielding demeanor.

Taking the note from Du Fei, Zhang Yong's face was filled with gratitude.

Two years ago, Zhang Yong's mother's old illness relapsed. He had searched numerous hospitals, all of whom advised him to spend her remaining time with her.

This had driven the filial Zhang Yong to the brink of madness. Later, someone suggested he seek out Du Fei.

Initially, Zhang Yong had only approached it with a "last resort" mentality, trying it out.

But to his surprise, Du Fei had indeed performed a miracle, curing his mother's illness.

Later, Zhang Yong learned that sixty percent of the inmates in the prison, including his own subordinates, had benefited from Du Fei's kindness. To put it hyperbolically, Du Fei's words sometimes carried more weight than his own within the prison.

"Du Fei, I know you've had Wang Mazi collect some information on your enemies, but I want to offer a word of advice. You are about to regain your freedom. Please, do not do anything foolish. When that time comes..."

Hesitating, Zhang Yong finally spoke.

Du Fei let out a cold laugh. "Brother Zhang, the hatred for my father's killer is irreconcilable! Not only did that person send me to prison, but he also hired people to harm me. If I hadn't been lucky, my grave would have been overgrown by now."

"But don't worry, I will make him wish he were dead!"

As he spoke, an extremely powerful killing intent erupted from Du Fei, causing Zhang Yong, standing before him, to involuntarily step back several paces.

Some prison guards on patrol nearby instinctively reached for their waist-mounted firearms.

Zhang Yong quickly stopped them.

"Forget it. I know I can't change your mind. Consider me meddling." Zhang Yong said with a self-deprecating laugh.

Du Fei patted Zhang Yong's shoulder. "Brother Zhang, rest assured. In this lifetime, I will never return here."

With that, Du Fei walked towards the prison exit. The two guards at the gate, their eyes filled with respect, opened the large doors for him.

The sunlight outside immediately streamed in, and Du Fei, bathed in the golden rays, was almost blinding to behold.

...

Du Village.

"Master, I'll get off here," Du Fei said as he stepped out of the taxi, looking at the familiar sight of the village entrance with mixed emotions.

Three years ago, Du Fei's family of four lived a happy and joyful life.

His parents were loving, and he and his sister were outstanding students, making them the most envied family in Du Village.

However, a turn of events led to his father's accidental death in a car crash, and Du Fei was framed and imprisoned.

Du Fei initially thought these misfortunes were dire enough. But to his dismay, the very next day in prison, he was severely beaten, his tendons in his hands and feet completely severed. He was discarded like refuse in a corner, left to await death.

Just as Du Fei was on the brink of death, the ancestral jade pendant on his person suddenly blazed with light. Du Fei felt as if his head were about to split open, and a vast, torrent-like stream of information poured into his mind.

A few minutes later, when Du Fei opened his eyes, apart from the new knowledge in his mind, all his injuries had healed.

After the initial shock and disbelief, Du Fei finally had time to examine the contents of his mind.

It turned out that Du Fei's ancestor was a powerful being who failed his tribulation during the era of declining magic. Just as he was about to be annihilated, he sealed all his lifelong learning into the jade pendant.

When a descendant of the family faced a life-or-death crisis, this jade pendant would be activated, and they would inherit everything.

Du Fei's ancestor was immensely skilled, proficient in medicine, astrology, and divination. Especially after Du Fei delved deeper, he discovered his ancestor could even bring the dead back to life and heal bones, which deeply shocked him as a descendant who had received modern science.

With his ancestor's inheritance, Du Fei now possessed supernatural abilities.

He found the man who had injured him, subdued him with lightning speed, and forced him to reveal the mastermind behind it.

Later, Du Fei did not kill the man. He merely pressed a couple of points on him before letting him go.

The man believed Du Fei wouldn't dare kill someone in prison. He didn't realize that Du Fei had used his internal energy to strike his acupuncture points. In a few days, the man would bleed from all seven orifices and die a slow, agonizing death from continuous bleeding.

Following the previous encounters, Du Fei understood a crucial principle.

He could not show any mercy to any of his enemies, especially since they had intended to kill him from the start. If he were to be soft-hearted, wouldn't he be leaving future troubles for himself?

Subsequently, in prison, Du Fei began to practice his medical skills on some of the inmates.

Without exception, all of them were cured, including some who had already prepared for death.

From then on, Du Fei's status within the prison soared, making him a unique and irreplaceable presence.

Of course, Du Fei was selective when practicing his medical skills and treating inmates.

Those he chose to treat were all individuals who had been framed or committed financial crimes. As for those who committed murder, arson, or bullied the common folk, he wouldn't even spare them a glance, no matter how much they begged.

After three years, Du Fei's medical skills had reached an unprecedented height. Coupled with his several instances of meritorious service that led to sentence reductions, he was finally able to walk out of prison.

"I, Du Fei, have returned. Those who wronged me, I will make them regret ever existing in this world."

"I will make them wish they were dead and experience the most painful and terrifying state in this world."

Du Fei clenched his fists, vowing silently.
