Chapter 201: Chapter 130: Escape from Danger
Upon receiving Ye Xuan’s call and waiting outside, Wang Yike saw Luo Ye rushing out like a locomotive and quickly opened the car door: "Luo Ye, over here, over here!"
"Thanks, Brother Wang, you really came fast!"
Wang Yike smiled and said, "Happened to be nearby, I rushed over as soon as I hung up with Boss Ye."
"Ye’er, wait a sec..."
Just as the car was about to leave, Luo Feng ran out, flailing his arms.
Initially depressed and panicked, Luo Ye felt inexplicably much better seeing his older brother dressed in sky-blue pajamas, holding a slipper in one hand as he rushed over. On the road, she faintly heard Luo Feng’s shouts and thought they were hallucinations.
"Ye’er..." Luo Feng, after getting in the car and panting heavily, said, "Where are you going? I was just drinking water when I saw you rush out, I didn’t dare to shout in the middle of the night, so I had to chase after you."
"A friend’s been injured and is in surgery, I’m in a rush to visit." She then pushed Luo Feng slightly, "Brother, go back, you’re still in pajamas."
"It’s all right, at times like this, who cares about that? Besides, my pajamas are pure cotton, just wear them like casual clothes. Right, our sudden departure probably shocked mom, dad, and Grandpa, you better call them."
"It’s all my fault, I was too anxious and forgot about how alert the elders are when sleeping. Brother Wang, can I borrow your phone? I rushed out in such a hurry I forgot mine." Luo Ye regretfully slapped her forehead, not calm enough.
The phone was answered immediately after one ring, "Is that Ye’er?" Wen Xin’s urgent voice came through, "Mom, it’s me, a friend has been hospitalized, my brother and I are going to look, I’ll explain the details when I get back."
"This child! Do you have enough money? Which hospital?" Wen Xin clearly sighed with relief, "Such a late hour, you gave us quite a scare..."
Luo Zhenggang’s expression changed and he seized the phone, "Ye’er, is it Jiang Zheng or Ye Xuan who’s injured?"
"Dad, it’s neither. But indeed, the injured person was harmed by Liu Zhengxing, her intention is to trade her life for Liu Zhengxing to face justice. It’s a long story, I’ll explain in detail when I get back.
Also, both Liu Zhengxing and Liu Song have fled after their crimes were exposed. Ye Xuan and the others have already organized various departments to coordinate the pursuit. This news probably hasn’t spread yet."
"I see. I’ll go to Uncle Song and prepare in advance. By the way, is the victim seriously injured? Is there a life-threatening danger?"
"We don’t know the details yet, but according to Ye Xuan, the injury is very severe. Dad, I didn’t bring my phone; I’m using Brother Wang’s. I’m worried about missing incoming calls, so I’ll hang up now and call you back once I have a confirmed update on the condition."
"Okay." Luo Zhenggang sighed softly and hung up the phone. Hearing that the suspect was really caught, he didn’t seem as happy as one might imagine.
Grandpa Luo understood his son’s feelings very well, patted Luo Zhenggang’s shoulder without a word, and went back to the bedroom. The burden in his heart, however, had been lifted.
...
When everyone arrived at Mary Hospital, Qian Mei was still in the emergency room for surgery. Li Danping, who worked alongside Wang Yike, was pacing back and forth outside the surgery room. Upon seeing the group, he hurriedly came over to report, "Apart from external injuries, Qian Mei’s spleen has also ruptured, and the doctors are doing a splenectomy."
Luo Ye looked at Li Danping with concern, "Brother Li, how is the situation? I mean... There wasn’t any delay, right?"
Li Danping shook his head, "We still don’t know the details, since she was rushed in, none of the doctors or nurses have come out."
"Ye’er, it will be okay, if there was any danger, the nurses would be running in and out busy." Luo Feng comforted, wrapping his arms around his sister as they sat down. However, he didn’t quite understand why his sister was so concerned about the victim, sensing her body quivering slightly.
Finally, the operating room doors opened, and Luo Ye quickly approached, anxiously watching the nurse at the door, her mood like a prisoner awaiting a verdict.
With Luo Ye’s hopeful yet afraid-to-ask demeanor, the nurse chuckled, "Rest assured, the patient is out of danger. Dr. Su was worried you’d be anxious, so he asked me to come out and tell you."
"Thank you! Thank you!" Luo Ye finally breathed a sigh of relief, sat back in the chair to wait patiently, naturally feeling much different than before.
An hour later, the surgery was successfully completed and Qian Mei was sent to the intensive care unit. Watching Qian Mei, full of tubes, through the glass, Luo Ye’s heart was filled with a faint sadness. Convincing her to keep living would probably not be an easy task, would it?
Seeing it was already four o’clock in the morning on the wall clock, Luo Feng persuaded, "Ye’er, you still have to go to school tomorrow, let’s go back. The doctor also said she won’t wake up within 24 hours; there’s no use for you to stay here."
