Chapter 197: Chapter 128-129: Hatred / Capture
Liu Song returned to the secret stronghold from the old house by 10 p.m. Hesitating for a moment, he gestured to a corner, and a muscular man in his twenties emerged: "Young Master, may I know if you have any instructions?"
Liu Song tilted his chin towards the direction of his father’s study: "Is my dad in there by himself?"
The man bowed in response: "Reporting to the Young Master, a guest arrived an hour ago, and the boss let him into the study!"
"That’s fine, I know. You can go now!" Liu Song was secretly relieved that he hadn’t barged in directly. He hurried upstairs to his room and locked the box into the safe.
Standing up, he found Qian Mei leaning against the door with a charming smile, watching him. His face quickly darkened: "Why did you come in without knocking?"
"Should I go out and knock again?" Qian Mei giggled as she approached, her slender hand slowly gliding across Liu Song’s body. Sensing the change in his physique, a hint of disgust flashed in her lowered eyes.
Liu Song quickly pushed Qian Mei away: "You little wretch, I’m busy right now, I’ll deal with you when I get back!"
"Okay, I’ll wait right here for you. Be quick, okay?" Qian Mei’s voice, seductive to the bone, was filled with an indescribable allure. Liu Song quickly calmed the desire in his heart and went to his father’s room.
As Liu Song’s figure disappeared, the flirtatious smile on Qian Mei’s face quickly vanished. She locked the door from inside, adroitly opened the safe, and took out the box that Liu Song had just put in.
Unzipping the box, inside were neatly stacked file bags, each wrapped in a thick plastic bag. Taking one out and opening it, Qian Mei was stunned—it was neatly cut old newspaper all the way through!
She had eavesdropped on the father-son conversations and knew what Liu Song should have brought back; what was going on? She replaced one with another, yet it was the same!
After checking several, Qian Mei suddenly realized—it must have been switched by someone!
The pretty face of Qing came to mind, and an unconscious smile tugged at her lips. Life was indeed full of mysteries. When Qing found her, she thought Qing was sent by Liu Zhengxing to test her, but only after Qing revealed her own background did she believe that Qing was not Liu Zhengxing’s person; otherwise, she would not be sitting in front of Qing alive, knowing full well the ruthless nature of that father and son duo.
She wondered how Qing had found out about her past as her ID card and household registration were genuine but no longer hers. She was confident no one could trace her original roots. Just from this alone, she could conclude that Qing could be a partner who could help her achieve her goals sooner!
Thus, she readily agreed to cooperate with all of Qing’s actions and accept her command. As for not asking how Qing knew about her past, she knew very well what should and shouldn’t be asked. One shouldn’t expect others to lay all their cards on the table, right? She was quite aware of her own worth!
As for whether Qing was trustworthy due to her young age, that wasn’t an issue for Qian Mei. First, she trusted her own judgment of people; second, she herself had been preparing for revenge since the age of 10. To doubt others was to doubt herself, wasn’t it?
The equipment Qing provided and some of the information she disclosed had affirmed Qian Mei’s decision to be right. The evidence she collected over four years of gaining confidence from the father and son was inferior to the gains made after one month of cooperation with Qing—this time even more so!
Only she had the skill to switch a whole box of evidence without being noticed!
Qian Mei quickly sealed the open bags and put them back in the box, about to lock it back in the safe when she hesitated. After pondering for a moment, she quickly got up and checked the room. A smile played at the corners of her mouth; let her be the spark then!
While Qian Mei was busy, Liu Song had reached his father’s study. Upon entering, he found a wealthy-looking man in his fifties chatting with his father. Liu Zhengxing greeted him with a smile: "Song, this is your Uncle Fan. Come say hello, and then bring the item you retrieved to him!"
Liu Song froze on the spot; he didn’t recall ever meeting this Uncle Fan, nor had his father mentioned him. He was somewhat unclear about the authenticity of his father’s words.
Liu Zhengxing frowned disapprovingly at his son: "What are you waiting for, greet him and go fetch it!"
"Hello, Uncle Fan! Dad, I’ll be right back!" With a belly full of doubts, Liu Song retreated, his thoughts a bit hazy. His father had always been cautious, and the permanent residents of the secretive stronghold included only him, his son, Qian Mei, and six trusted bodyguards. The people they met with were very few. Who exactly was this man?
