Chapter 121 Secret (I)
Mukesha Town at night was completely different from during the day.
Dim moonlight shone down, barely illuminating the exterior of the buildings.
The alleyways and gaps between them were nothing but black lines, echoing the dark doorways and windows. Li Cheng颐 walked step by step along the route he had taken during the day, heading towards that house.
With the sound of his footsteps crunching, he quickly returned to the small room on the second floor. The door was still open, and the room was just as he remembered it, with the same signs of having been burned. He glanced at the bed frame but didn't approach it.
"Judging from the flashes of memory, Iselin must have hidden in this tunnel."
Li Cheng颐 recalled the previous scenes, took out a flashlight for illumination, and switched it on. Only a sliver of moonlight entered the bedroom through the window.
There was no other light source.
That moonlight was pitifully weak, not even as bright as a candle, let alone enough to illuminate the surroundings. When the flashlight was turned on, its bright halo reflected off everything in the bedroom, making it much clearer.
Li Cheng颐 walked to the corner, squatted down, and moved aside a charred piece of wood. Immediately, the charred corpse of a dog appeared before him.
"This should be that big yellow dog." He sighed inwardly. Gently moving the dog aside, he then brushed away the black ash on the ground. Sure enough, a square stone slab with an iron ring was revealed.
Reaching out, Li Cheng颐 took a breath, hooked the ring, and pulled upwards.
*Poof.*
The stone slab was lifted, revealing a dark and lightless tunnel entrance amidst a cloud of dust. He shone the flashlight inside.
As soon as the light entered,
a pale doll-like face came into view.
It was a bizarre face of a little girl covered in white powder, with a smile on her lips and wearing a white nightgown. "Lonely Doll?!"
Li Cheng颐 was startled by the face so close to him. It wasn't that he was afraid, but the face was too close. It was only a fist's distance from touching the tip of his helmet. He stumbled backwards and sat down on the ground.
His right hand pressed against the ground, but he suddenly felt something was wrong.
He looked down at his right hand side, where a pair of pale, wounded children's feet were standing. His hair stood on end, and he got up to move away.
"Ah!!!!"
Suddenly, the face in the tunnel and the child standing next to him both screamed.
Two piercing sound waves vibrated through Li Cheng颐's body, making him feel as if he had been thrown into a washing machine. A strong sense of nausea and dizziness surged through his mind.
"Shut up!!!" He suddenly raised his hand.
The Feiyi (Flying Apparatus) turned into a black flash, streaking past the face in the tunnel and the child beside him. *Boom!*
Everything fell silent.
Li Cheng颐 knelt on one knee, covered in sweat, feeling a stabbing pain in his ears. His vision was a little blurred, but when he looked around the room again,
the two figures that had just appeared were gone. Only the Feiyi black axe was still stuck in the ground.
He exhaled, grasped the black axe, and pulled it out.
A continuous stream of radiance force was constantly restoring his injuries and condition. In just over ten seconds, the snow-like spots in front of his eyes gradually disappeared.
Breathing heavily, he returned to the front of the tunnel.
Without hesitation, he jumped down with the flashlight in his hand. *Hiss.*
Amidst the obvious sound of armor scraping,
he slid for at least ten meters before his feet landed on solid ground.
He slid from the tunnel into a square room, much like the bedroom above. With a *poof*, Li Cheng颐 crashed to the ground, scattering a cloud of dust.
The dust clouded the flashlight's beam. After waiting for a while, as the dust slowly settled,
Li Cheng颐 raised the flashlight and carefully examined the room.
It was a cube-shaped room, with the same furnishings as the bedroom above. Yellow-earth walls, a yellow-earth floor, and a black ceiling.
In the room were a single child's bed, a desk, a small wardrobe, and a tightly closed black iron door. Li Cheng颐 searched the entire room with the flashlight, but the expression on his face inside the helmet was slightly frowning. "This place… the furnishings are the same as above, but… this doesn't seem like a little girl's room."
He walked to the desk and picked up a small Transformer toy placed on the desk.
The yellow Transformer was missing an arm, and its legs were bent into an "x" shape. Only one of the two antennas on its head remained.
This didn't seem like the way a little girl would play with it. He carefully examined and searched with the flashlight.
Soon, he found a clue.
In the right corner of the desk, there were a few drops of black marks. The shape looked like bloodstains. *Swish.*
Li Cheng颐 pulled open the drawer below the bloodstains.
Inside was an old-fashioned portable video player. In Li Cheng颐's past life, this was called an mp4. In this place, it was called an MV machine.
The player was the size of an egg, square-shaped, all black, with most of the front being a display screen. The edge of the screen was surrounded by a black border. There were no buttons, so he guessed it was a touchscreen.
"Maybe I can find some clues." He put the device away, placing it in the small hidden compartment of the Feiyi. Then, he continued to search for other clues.
But unfortunately, there was only this one item on the entire desk. Everything else was empty, as if it was just for show.
Li Cheng颐 turned around and looked at the child's bed again. The bed was empty.
But under the bed…
a corner of a white nightgown was exposed. It was clear that someone was hiding under the bed.
Li Cheng颐 sighed and slowly approached.
Reaching out, he gently grabbed the corner of the nightgown and slowly pulled it outwards. With a slight hissing sound,
the skeleton of a little girl was gently pulled out and lay on the side of the child's bed.
The skeleton's hands covered its eyes, and its body was curled up into a ball, with thin, hardened black membranes remaining. It looked helpless and pitiful.
One could imagine that in her final moments, her eyes were blind, there was nothing to eat or drink, and no one answered her. In this empty room, she was all alone.
She could only listen to her mother, groping around, hiding under the bed, curling up alone, enduring the excruciating pain in her eyes, and then all the way until she died.
"If… you are Iselin, then who was the one I encountered earlier?"
Looking at the skeleton before him, Li Cheng颐 sighed, feeling unusually unconcerned. Instead, a faint sadness arose.
Gently reaching out, he slowly pulled away the skeleton's hands. As expected, he saw black clods of earth embedded in the eye sockets.
Standing up, he checked the entire room one last time. Li Cheng颐 confirmed that he had not missed any details. Then, he stood in front of the only iron door.
Reaching out to grab the doorknob, he held the golden sword in his other hand and slashed hard. *Chichichi.*
With two crisp sounds, the lock on the door was cut open.
He pulled hard.
The entire door made a piercing grinding sound as it was forcibly pulled open.
Outside the door was a small tunnel, not long, only about three meters, sloping towards a square stone slab. Li Cheng颐 shone the flashlight on it, confirmed that there were no problems, and then carefully crawled inside step by step.
The tunnel was very low and narrow. With the armor on, he was very large and could only crawl on his stomach, otherwise his head would hit the top of the tunnel.
*Pa.*
He had only crawled a few steps when he suddenly felt a tightening on his right foot, as if something was pulling him. Li Cheng颐 quickly looked back.
At the entrance to the underground bedroom, the pale face of a little girl was looking up at him with a smile. His foot was being firmly grasped by a charred little hand.
Looking at that pale and eerie face, Li Cheng颐 was horrified. Just as he was about to attack,
suddenly the little girl's hand let go on its own. She just smiled and looked at Li Cheng颐. Then, she retreated little by little, retreating.
All the way back into the deep darkness. Completely disappearing.
For some reason, as Li Cheng颐 looked at the place where she had disappeared, a strong sense of loneliness suddenly arose in his heart. This seemed to be the feeling that the other party was conveying.
In his mind, he inexplicably flashed back to the clues he had discovered before and the information he had read.
Without stopping, he quickly crawled to the bottom of the stone slab and bumped it with his elbow, instantly knocking the stone slab open. He squeezed out of the small opening.
He then realized that he was actually outside the earthen wall of Mukesha Town. An escape tunnel leading outside the wall!
He understood.
Without stopping, Li Cheng颐 looked around. The Blue Deer's people had not yet arrived. The surroundings were still silent.
There were no satellite surveillance cameras or Sky Eye systems covering the area. He didn't have to worry about possible surveillance.
Standing up, he carefully lifted the Feiyi, which contained the MV machine he had just found, which was likely to contain important information.
Recalling the entire exploration process, Li Cheng颐 could faintly feel that there seemed to be a clue running through this Mukesha Town.
But temporarily, due to incomplete information, he couldn't be sure. "I have to go back."
He had killed so many Blue Deer people that they must have noticed and sent people this way. He didn't want to have a violent conflict with them, at least not here. However, he had only killed a few dozen of their people. It shouldn't be a big problem.
Looking around, Li Cheng颐 didn't return the way he came, but ran rapidly in the other direction, leaving.
He needed to detour and then use the hidden single-person flight equipment to take off and erase his footprints. Although the wind and sand would make the footprints disappear completely in no time,
the other party might catch up in an even shorter time.
After half an hour of careful operation, he was back in his airport hotel room.
Li Cheng颐 took out his phone from the hotel drawer again and opened it to check the messages. There were four missed calls.
And the Cucumber Night Chat was also full of messages, with a message count of 99+.
He was startled, knowing that Rainbow Candy and the others must have found a clue. He quickly opened it.
"The situation is very bad, I was attacked." - Rainbow Candy. "Me too! Got sniped." - Big Black. "Xiao Zong and I brought a medical kit!" - Dragon Gate Crane.
"There are too many of them. We have to find a way to avoid them first." - Big Bear. "Let's gather together first, and then try to break out!" - Rainbow Candy.
Li Cheng颐's heart tightened when he saw this.
He instantly thought of the Ideal Land organization he had offended. Among all the troubles, only Ideal Land had such great energy to make Rainbow Candy and the others so embarrassed.
He quickly typed, about to send.
