Chapter 72 The White Moonlight of the Abusive Novel's Male Lead (12)

Zheng Yi Ran had been quite unlucky recently. Following a minor car accident where the driver fled the scene, she lost her job at the coffee shop due to taking time off.

Fortunately, the wounds on her arms and legs did not leave scars, which she attributed to the person who saved her that day.

When she returned to her dorm, she discovered that her bag contained several tubes of scar removal cream.

Thinking about how that person had inquired with the doctor about whether she would be left with scars and then placed scar removal cream in her bag, her heart felt warm.

Later, she saw that person a few more times near the school, but he always seemed to be in a hurry and never noticed her.

Zheng Yi Ran wanted to find out more about him, but he didn't seem to be a student at the school. She wondered why he was there and if she could help him.

Just then, a group message popped up on her phone. She had joined this group after donating blood, and it was for owners of rare blood types, specifically Rh-negative blood, also known as panda blood.

"Attention all members. A car accident occurred on Jianshe Road in Nancheng. One of the pregnant victims is Rh-negative. She is currently in critical condition at Nancheng Hospital and urgently needs a blood transfusion. The hospital's blood supply is insufficient. Blood friends nearby are urged to lend a helping hand!"

Jianshe Road, Nancheng Hospital – that seemed not too far from them. Zheng Yi Ran immediately hailed a taxi to the hospital.

After donating blood, Zheng Yi Ran pressed a cotton swab against the needle prick, preparing to leave amidst the profuse thanks of the patient's family.

She had arrived in good time; she had initially thought of leaving after the patient's condition stabilized.

However, the patient's family was truly too enthusiastic. She felt awkward with such overwhelming gratitude and decided to leave quickly without waiting for the results.

She reached the elevator and pressed the down button.

"Huh, is that you?" As the elevator doors opened, a slightly familiar voice called out from inside.

Zheng Yi Ran looked up and exclaimed in surprise, "It's you! What are you doing here?"

Zheng Yi Ran stepped into the elevator and stood beside Lu Yi. Lu Yi then pressed the close door button.

"This is a question I should be asking you. Why are you in the hospital again?" Lu Yi asked with amusement.

"I came to do a good deed!" Zheng Yi Ran said, her face beaming with pride.

"Oh? What good deed?" Lu Yi inquired curiously.

"Donating blood! There was a car accident on Jianshe Road, and the hospital's blood supply was low, so I came to donate blood!"

"You're truly amazing! But you were injured not too long ago, and now you're donating blood. Are you alright?" Lu Yi asked with concern.

"I'm fine. It was just a superficial injury last time, and it's completely healed. But why are you at the hospital?" Zheng Yi Ran asked, sizing up Lu Yi as if worried he might be unwell.

"I'm here to see a friend. He's hospitalized here," Lu Yi explained casually.

In reality, it wasn't true. The person he had sent to monitor Zheng Yi Ran had informed him that she was at the hospital, so he had rushed over immediately.

"Is your friend alright?" Zheng Yi Ran asked worriedly.

"Nothing serious, just a minor surgery. Since I was nearby, I decided to visit him," Lu Yi's words were flawless.

"That's good," Zheng Yi Ran breathed a sigh of relief.

"Was the car accident very serious? To the point that the hospital's blood supply is in crisis?"

The elevator doors opened on the first floor. They both walked out.

"Not extremely serious, but one of the injured is a pregnant woman, and she's Rh-negative. The hospital's blood supply was insufficient, so they notified us to come," Zheng Yi Ran explained.

"You have panda blood?" Lu Yi asked, feigning surprise.

"Yes."

"I have a friend who also has panda blood," Lu Yi's voice deepened, sounding a little dejected.

"By the way, where are you headed next? If it's on the way, I can give you a ride," Lu Yi changed the subject.

Zheng Yi Ran sensed that his friend might be in a bad situation, but she politely did not pry.

"I'm going back to school."

"Then it's on the way. Let's go, my car is over there," Lu Yi said, leading the way.

"Oh, I still don't know your name. I'm Lu Yi."

"Hello, Lu Yi, I'm Zheng Yi Ran!" Zheng Yi Ran replied with a smile.

She finally knew his name, Lu Yi. They were truly fated!

"Lu Yi, since we met by chance, let me treat you to a meal. It's a thank you for saving me last time!" Zheng Yi Ran sincerely invited, also wanting to spend more time with him.

"But I don't have much money, so I can't treat you to a very expensive restaurant. You'll have to bear with me and eat at a small place near the school."

"No trouble at all. I only recently graduated from university myself. Restaurants near school are quite good, affordable and delicious!"

As they reached the car, Lu Yi opened the rear door for Zheng Yi Ran.

"Thank you," Zheng Yi Ran said with a smile and got into the car.

Lu Yi also opened the driver's door, got in, and started the engine.

"Are you also from our school?" Zheng Yi Ran asked curiously.

"No, my school is in another city," Lu Yi replied, without specifying which school.

"Then are you working here?" Zheng Yi Ran inquired, wanting to know more about him.

"No, I'm here on a business trip." Lu Yi explained. This was true; his family had a branch company here, and he had been handling its affairs during this period.

"You're that capable? Just graduated and already entrusted with important responsibilities!" Zheng Yi Ran asked, her eyes sparkling.

"It's not that I'm capable, it's my parents who are capable. I'm just working for the family," Lu Yi explained.

"That's still very impressive! I don't think I could do it," Zheng Yi Ran added.

They found an ordinary restaurant near Zheng Yi Ran's school and ordered some dishes.

During the meal, Zheng Yi Ran also managed to get Lu Yi's contact information.

After the meal, they parted ways, and Zheng Yi Ran walked back to school happily.

This Zheng Yi Ran was quite warm-hearted to donate blood to a stranger she didn't know. He wondered if she would agree to donate bone marrow to Yan Yan.

Or perhaps a more substantial incentive was needed, as the possibility of refusal was high if he asked now.

Yan Yan's illness couldn't be delayed. He had to get her to agree. It seemed he needed to interact with her more.

Yet, every time he saw her bright, smiling face, Lu Yi felt an irrepressible surge of resentment.

Why wasn't she the one who was sick? Why could she live so freely with a face so similar to Yan Yan's?

While Yan Yan had to endure countless trips to the hospital, the pain of chemotherapy, and couldn't even keep her hair, which she cherished the most?

This was what she owed Yan Yan! After all, according to Aunt Lin, even though they were twins, Lin Qian was born much healthier than Yan Yan!

If it weren't for her existence, how could Yan Yan have fallen ill!!!
