"Yan Yan, how are you feeling?" Mother Lin asked as she walked to the bedside after entering the ward.
"Mom, I'm fine. But I have something important to tell you," Lin Yan said seriously.
"What is it? Isn't your health the most important thing right now!" Mother Lin asked curiously.
Father Lin also looked at Lin Yan on the hospital bed with concern, "Yes, you called us in as soon as you woke up. What's so important?"
"Doctor Bai just came in and told me he saw Qian Qian," Lin Yan said solemnly.
"What! Qian Qian!" Father and Mother Lin exclaimed in surprise, looking at Lin Yan.
"Yan Yan, what are you talking about! How could Doctor Bai know Qian Qian!" Mother Lin couldn't believe it.
"Yes, Doctor Bai doesn't know Qian Qian at all. Yan Yan, are you joking?"
"Dad, Mom, listen to me."
"Doctor Bai said the person who donated bone marrow to me is about my age and looks about sixty to seventy percent like me."
"Someone who matches my blood type, looks similar to me, and is around my age, if it's not Qian Qian, who else could it be!"
Lin Yan was a little agitated, feeling inexplicable, and kept insisting it must be Qian Qian.
"You mean the person who matched you is Qian Qian?" Mother Lin finally understood.
"Yan Yan, why would Doctor Bai tell you who it is that matched you?"
Unlike Mother Lin's excitement, Father Lin was more rational.
They had been disappointed too many times over the years. This sudden bone marrow donor, and Doctor Bai who delivered the news to Yan Yan, made him suspicious.
"I asked Doctor Bai to help. Lu Yi had told me before that he had found someone who matched me, but he wouldn't tell us who it was. He just said he would persuade her to donate."
"So I asked Doctor Bai to help me meet this donor and ask what conditions Lu Yi offered to persuade her."
"If the conditions were too high, we could repay Lu Yi. But after Doctor Bai met that person, he told me she was about my age and looked sixty to seventy percent like me."
"That must be Qian Qian! Lu Yi found Qian Qian, no wonder he said he found someone who matched but still needed to persuade her."
"If she had already been matched, why would persuasion be needed?" Lin Yan said excitedly.
"It must be Qian Qian, I feel it's Qian Qian!" Mother Lin also realized it at this moment.
"But why didn't Lu Yi tell us? He knew we were looking for Qian Qian. Is it, is it that Qian Qian hates us for losing her?" Mother Lin's tears fell as she clutched the guardrail by the bed.
"Don't overthink it. We haven't seen that person yet, we can't confirm it's Qian Qian," Father Lin quickly reassured Mother Lin.
"Old Lin, let's go see, let's go see that child," Mother Lin said, holding Father Lin's hand.
"Okay, let's go see. She should still be in the hospital. Even if she's discharged, Lu Yi must have her contact information," Father Lin persuaded, also desperately hoping the child was their lost Qian Qian.
Yan Yan had already had the surgery, and they could finally relax. If they could find Qian Qian too, he would have no regrets in this life.
"No, Mom and Dad, we can't let Lu Yi know," Lin Yan immediately refused.
"Why?" Father Lin frowned.
Lu Yi had put a lot of effort into Yan Yan's illness this time, and their families had been neighbors for many years.
He trusted Lu Yi and thought highly of him.
"He's always known we were looking for Qian Qian, and he found the donor. Just as Doctor Bai said, he knew the person had a familial relationship with me when he saw her."
"How could Lu Yi not know it was Qian Qian!" Lin Yan was now unusually calm, analyzing Lu Yi's behavior to try and convince her parents.
"But why didn't he tell us? Even if Qian Qian asked him to keep it a secret, he clearly knew we had been looking for Qian Qian for over ten years!"
"Old Lin?" Mother Lin looked at Father Lin, suspicion appearing on her face. Father Lin's expression turned ugly; he also realized it. He couldn't defend Lu Yi, as what Yan Yan said was the truth.
"So, Dad, don't mention this when you go out. Don't let Lu Yi know you went to see Yan Yan."
"But why would Lu Yi do something like this?" Father Lin wondered.
"Never mind why! The most important thing now is to see Qian Qian!" Mother Lin said angrily. She believed her daughter. Lu Yi had always been good to Yan Yan, and if Yan Yan hadn't discovered something, she wouldn't have suspected Lu Yi.
"Yes, Dad, we must find Qian Qian, find my sister. After you go out, go find Doctor Bai. He must know which ward Qian Qian is in."
"Lu Yi attached great importance to this surgery. Qian Qian came early to prepare her body. Now that the surgery is complete, Qian Qian must still be in the hospital!"
"Yes, we'll go find Doctor Bai right away and ask where Qian Qian is!" Mother Lin was about to leave.
"Shumin, wait a moment," Father Lin stopped Mother Lin. He wiped the tears from her face and then tidied her hair. "We can't let Lu Yi notice, can we." Father Lin had regained his usual gentle demeanor, and Mother Lin, standing beside him, also curbed her excitement.
"Mom and Dad, let Lu Yi in. I'll stop him while you go find Doctor Bai," Lin Yan suddenly said, an idea striking her.
"Okay." Father and Mother Lin left the ward. Lu Yi immediately stepped forward. Seeing Mother Lin's slightly red eyes, Lu Yi asked with concern, "Uncle and Aunt, is Yan Yan alright?"
"She's fine, Yan Yan is doing well," Mother Lin said with a smile, but her eyes were filled with urgency. Lu Yi, however, didn't notice, his mind entirely focused on the person on the hospital bed.
"But Auntie, you..."
"Auntie is happy. As long as Yan Yan doesn't have a rejection reaction, she's truly on the path to recovery." Mother Lin tried her best to hide any clues and dealt with Lu Yi.
"Oh, by the way, A'Yi, you can go in and see Yan Yan. After all, you've done so much for Yan Yan's illness. Your Auntie and I will go chat with the doctor." Father Lin diverted Lu Yi's attention to Lin Yan in the ward, fearing he would notice Mother Lin's distress.
"Then Uncle and Aunt, you go ahead. I'll go in and see Yan Yan." After watching Father and Mother Lin leave, Lu Yi pushed open the door to Lin Yan's ward.
"Yan Yan," Lu Yi entered the ward and saw Lin Yan, still adorned with various monitoring equipment. Lu Yi's eyes were filled with heartache. "Are you okay?"
"Not bad, a little better than I imagined." Although Lin Yan's face was calm, Lu Yi could see the furrowed brow from her effort to endure the pain.
"It will be fine soon. As long as you rest well, you'll be healthy again very quickly," Lu Yi comforted her, as it was all he could do now. If he could, he would have preferred to be lying there himself.
