Chapter 427 The Sacrificed Genius of the Xuan Sect (59)

Changsun Changlin felt a sense of familiarity after his encounter with Lin Yan.

Lin Yan could not possibly be someone he knew in his lifetime. He was distracted for a moment, only to react after being struck by Lin Yan’s talismans.

The barrier protecting Xuancheng, the fluctuations of spiritual energy within it, and those talismans were identical to those on Lin Yan.

So, the person he had admired so much was the one standing before him? What a coincidence!

Sensing his distraction, Lin Yan quickly unleashed more talismans. These talismans left numerous wounds on him, causing his soul form to become unstable.

“Little girl, you refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit,” Changsun Changlin retreated a few steps and brushed his hand over his somewhat tattered robes. His python robe was restored to its original state.

“Senior, I refuse both toast and forfeit. If you will cease your actions now and return to the Underworld to face judgment, I will also cease,” Lin Yan knew he would not agree, but the process still needed to be followed.

“Although I may not be your match, it is impossible for you to deal with me easily.”

Lin Yan did not bother to adjust herself. She stared at Changsun Changlin, wary of him doing anything else.

“Is there no room for negotiation? These people in the city have no connection to you. Why must you stop me? If I injure you, I will be heartbroken.”

Lin Yan refused to listen to Changsun Changlin’s insincere words. She held a spatial talisman in her hand. The talismans within were drawn with her own blood. She believed these talismans could truly wound this male lead.

“It seems a peaceful resolution is impossible today. Yan Yan, I truly do not wish to harm you.” Changsun Changlin’s gaze was deep, filled with reluctance as he looked at Lin Yan.

“Senior is joking,” Lin Yan took out several talismans from the spatial talisman.

Once she truly wounded him, she could deploy her improved formation.

Although Lin Yan faced great peril, she remained unharmed because Changsun Changlin was unwilling to hurt her.

On the other hand, those fighting the ferocious ghosts all sustained injuries. However, having cooperated with each other in the Ghost Realm, they only suffered minor wounds.

Their battle was arduous, especially after the ferocious ghosts’ strength had greatly increased through mutual devouring. Although digestion would take some time, there were simply too many of these ferocious ghosts.

Lin Yan also noticed the situation on the other side and felt a pang of anxiety, especially as she could sense the protective barrier nearing its breaking point.

She quickly took out a brocade pouch and tossed it over, “Senior Brother Zhang, catch!”

Zhang Moqi, on the other side, caught the pouch and opened it to find it filled with talismans. “Form the array!”

Hearing Zhang Moqi’s command, everyone quickly formed the array they had used in the Ghost Realm. Zhang Moqi grabbed some talismans from the pouch and distributed them to everyone.

With the replenishment of these talismans, they could hold on for a while longer.

Seeing that Lin Yan still had the presence of mind to help those people, Changsun Changlin grew furious. Although many of his subordinates had been killed, he lacked for nothing when it came to such ferocious ghosts.

After the destruction of the You Kingdom, countless resentful spirits were formed. These ferocious ghosts were merely a portion of his forces.

His original intention was for them to devour some blood food, then devour each other, ultimately forming powerful spectral entities for him to command.

What angered him was Lin Yan’s complete disregard for him. Was she relying on some unseen protection, or did she truly believe he wouldn’t harm her?

Changsun Changlin decided he needed to be more serious, lest this little girl truly underestimated him.

He formed seals with his hands, and the Yin energy behind and above him began to surge. Sensing the danger, Lin Yan immediately hurled the talismans towards him.

However, the talismans stopped about half a foot in front of him. But he underestimated the power of these talismans. They exploded where they stopped, interrupting the seal he was forming.

Changsun Changlin frowned slightly. He couldn't understand how Lin Yan possessed so many talismans. Logically, with the current scarcity of spiritual energy, the power of talismans should also be diminished.

Why were the talismans in her hand so potent?

After interrupting Changsun Changlin’s seal with a barrage of talismans, Lin Yan then took out another talisman, lit it, and chanted incantations.

This was a divine summoning talisman. However, Lin Yan was not inviting a deity to possess her. Instead, she intended to report the current events to the Underworld and simultaneously open the Ghost Gate to request the assistance of the Yin officials.

She could not allow the ordinary people of Xuancheng to face these ferocious ghosts. She had initially left them for her companions to practice with, as they didn’t seem very powerful.

But she hadn’t anticipated that Changsun Changlin would have them devour each other. Such professional matters should be left to the professional Yin officials.

The familiar aura emanating from the talisman in Lin Yan’s hand alerted Changsun Changlin to her intentions.

Although he desperately wanted to stop her, he was blocked by the talismans Lin Yan continued to throw.

Changsun Changlin let out a laugh of exasperation. He wanted to see just how many talismans this Lin Yan had!

So, he simply stopped attempting any specific actions and moved slowly towards Lin Yan. Lin Yan threw talismans handful after handful, as if she had no other means.

Coupled with Lin Yan’s rapid breathing and her somewhat depleted spiritual energy, Changsun Changlin understood that Lin Yan was at the end of her rope.

Once she ran out of talismans, she would be at his mercy.

When Lin Yan reached for another talisman but found nothing, Changsun Changlin knew she was out of them.

He exerted force beneath his feet, preparing to capture Lin Yan. He was not afraid of her defiance, nor of any actions she might take.

Bewitched, once he enchanted her mind, Lin Yan would devote herself entirely to him, and all that was hers would become his.

Changsun Changlin, already envisioning the future, failed to notice that he had walked into a formation.

As he stepped into the center of the formation, Lin Yan produced more talismans. These talismans formed a circle in the air and drifted towards Changsun Changlin.

“I’ve fallen into a trap!” Changsun Changlin tried to dodge, but he found he was completely unable to move. Looking down, he finally noticed the talisman formation on the ground.

“When did you set up the formation?” Changsun Changlin was bewildered as to when Lin Yan had set up the formation, finding it rather novel that he had been controlled by a mere girl.

“While I was throwing the talismans earlier,” Lin Yan did not conceal it, though this method was something only Lin Yan could achieve.

The Ghost Gate appeared to the west of Xuancheng. Just before the protective barrier shattered, a large number of Yin officials emerged from the Ghost Gate.

Those on the other side, who were struggling against the ferocious ghosts, finally breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the Yin officials.

Although they were not the reinforcements they had expected, they could finally relax.

The arrival of the Yin officials saved them, and they finally had time to turn their attention to Lin Yan’s situation.

Subsequently, they saw the Ghost King, trapped in place.

Was their Senior Sister/Junior Sister Lin this powerful?
