"Do you not remember? Let me help you recall."
Luo Sheng gently stroked A Rui's eyes with her other hand.
"You said I had a pair of exceptionally beautiful eyes, that you liked them the moment you saw them. You said you liked me, that you wanted to pursue me, and that you would attend the same university as me."
"Hiss!" A Rui gasped, blood trickling from the corner of his eye, yet he dared not resist.
"But all of this was just a bet for you. I was someone you had to conquer within half a month."
"I..." A Rui wanted to say that he had genuinely developed feelings, but it was too late now.
"Actually, I liked you a lot back then."
Upon hearing this, A Rui looked at Luo Sheng with disbelief. He had completely forgotten his fear of her. He was utterly astonished that Luo Sheng had once liked him.
"You're surprised, aren't you? It seems you never truly understood me, nor my family's situation. No, you did understand later, otherwise, you wouldn't have been able to suppress all matters concerning me so easily."
Luo Sheng applied more force. Blood dripped, drop by drop, down her arm and onto the carpet in the hallway.
"I once thought that after the college entrance exam, I would agree to be your girlfriend. I never expected that everything you said was just to mock me. Was it amusing to see me tossing and turning because of you? How foolish, wasn't it?"
"No, it wasn't like that," he managed to say with difficulty.
A mocking smile played on Luo Sheng's lips. She gradually increased the pressure, watching the color of the person beneath her hands turn increasingly bruised and his breathing grow weaker.
"Luo Sheng, let go!" Lin Yan's voice boomed in Luo Sheng's ears, jolting her out of her hatred.
Looking at the person before her, who was almost unconscious, Luo Sheng reluctantly threw him aside. For now, she would spare him. Once she obtained the documents, she would take his life. Glaring fiercely at the person lying on the ground, she drifted towards the other end of the hallway.
After Yue Yue and Li Yi Ze entered the elevator and pressed the up button, they kissed again. However, they failed to notice that although the elevator doors had closed, the elevator itself hadn't moved.
"Crack!" The light in the elevator emitted a strange sound and then flickered out.
Pitch darkness enveloped the elevator cabin. The two people clinging to each other immediately stopped. Yue Yue burrowed into Li Yi Ze's embrace.
"Ah! Aze, what's happening? I'm so scared."
Li Yi Ze tightened his grip on Yue Yue's trembling body, forcing himself to remain calm. "It's probably a circuit issue. It's fine. This elevator only goes up to the third floor, and the shaft isn't deep. There won't be any danger."
He spoke words he didn't entirely believe himself, but he couldn't show weakness in front of his lover.
"Don't worry, even if we can't open the door, A Rui should notice we're gone soon and come looking for us."
"Mmm. My foot hurts a bit."
"Then sit down for a moment and rest. I'll see if I can open the door." Li Yi Ze helped Yue Yue, preparing to let her sit.
"I'm a little scared," Yue Yue clutched Li Yi Ze's hand.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here with you," Li Yi Ze gently patted her hand.
After comforting her, Li Yi Ze began to feel his way towards the elevator door, hoping to pry it open. Even if he couldn't, he wanted to try and hear something from the outside, then call for his friends to rescue them.
However, the moment he touched the elevator door, he immediately retracted his hand. The door was electrified. He dared not touch it again and stepped back, putting more distance between himself and the door.
"Aze, what's wrong?" Yue Yue noticed Li Yi Ze's retreat.
"This door is electrified. There might be a short circuit somewhere. Yue Yue, be careful not to touch the elevator walls."
"What should we do then? Are we trapped?" Yue Yue's voice wavered with tears. Although there was no light to see her expression, she was likely crying at that moment.
Realizing this, Li Yi Ze felt a pang of sympathy, but also a subtle hint of annoyance, which he himself did not notice. Yue Yue had been of no help these past few days, and on top of that, she had caused him some trouble. Although Yue Yue's admiration satisfied his masculine ego, in their current predicament, her constant crying was indeed irritating him. Yet, she was still the woman he had taken a liking to, and hearing her cry, he felt a twinge of concern.
They huddled on the elevator carpet, trying not to touch any of the walls.
The next moment, the elevator began to shake. Not the slight tremor of starting, but a growing, violent jolt. Several times, they nearly lost their balance and could only sit on the carpet, hugging each other, trying to minimize their movements.
Luo Fan watched the two figures embracing on the elevator monitor and increased the transmitted power, though the voltage remained within a safe range for the human body.
Soon, Luo Sheng phased back through the wall, but her face was clouded with unhappiness.
"It's alright, just wait a little longer. Once you get the documents, you can seek revenge openly," Lin Yan comforted her.
"Sheng'er, don't worry. Not one of them will escape. Even those two outside won't get away," Luo Fan also reassured his sister. Although he too wished to avenge his sister, having witnessed Lin Yan's capabilities, he decided to trust her words.
"Clang, clang, clang," came the sound of chains dragging on the ground.
But only Lin Yan and Luo Sheng could hear this sound.
"They're here," Lin Yan looked towards where the sound was coming from.
Luo Sheng had never heard this sound before, yet she knew it instinctively, as if some unseen force was telling her what it was. These were the chains of the Yin messengers, dragging on the ground as they walked step by step.
"Greetings to you, two esteemed officials!" Lin Yan bowed first.
"A benevolent person is indeed polite," the two Yin messengers quickly returned the bow.
"We trouble you for making this trip."
