Chapter 584 You Cannot Leave!

Inside Madam Shen's villa.

She was listening to her subordinates report on recent events.

Suddenly, her assistant received a call from security. "A woman claiming to be from the Huaguo War Department is requesting to see you, Madam. She says it's important and she must speak with you in person!"

The assistant informed Madam Shen of the situation. After a moment's thought, Madam Shen instructed them to bring the visitor up.

Soon.

*Knock, knock, knock!*

The door was knocked.

Madam Shen signaled her assistant to open it.

The door opened.

A strange woman stood there. "Hello, I'm looking for Madam Shen!"

Seeing the woman from a distance, Madam Shen felt a pang of nervousness, or rather, she detected a familiar scent.

She walked up to the woman. "I am she. Who are you, and what do you want with me?"

"Hello, my name is Mo Ling, and I belong to the Huaguo Security Department," she said, her expression stern.

Madam Shen felt even more nervous.

After all, she had just survived an assassination attempt not long ago. Who knew if this was another scheme concocted by her enemies?

Her assistant felt the same.

However, Mo Ling, accustomed to such situations, calmly took out her identification from her pocket. "This is my identification!"

She expertly opened it with one hand and showed it to them.

Madam Shen had seen such identification before. It didn't look fake.

Seeing this, Madam Shen was about eighty percent convinced.

However, being cautious, she didn't immediately trust her. "I need further confirmation."

Mo Ling was not surprised. She continued, "We have received intel that someone is planning to assassinate you again, with the goal of disrupting the friendship between Huaguo and Bangguo."

Madam Shen and her assistant's faces turned pale. They couldn't believe that after just experiencing an assassination, another crisis was looming.

But they weren't without preparation.

Thinking of the measures she had taken, Madam Shen became much calmer.

Looking into Mo Ling's eyes, she said, "Are you here to remind me to strengthen my security? Rest assured, I have already deployed a powerful bodyguard team, with heavy firepower and strict defense. I assume you've seen this during your arrival."

Mo Ling nodded. "I did see it, but your security is still not tight enough!"

"What?" Madam Shen's expression changed.

Had all her preparations been in vain?

"What's going on? Where did it go wrong? I expect a satisfactory explanation, or else..." She began to question urgently, her tone laced with a hint of threat.

Mo Ling paid no attention to Madam Shen's words. She simply smiled slightly and spoke softly.

"According to our intelligence, you are currently in extreme danger because there is a traitor within your inner circle."

"What, this?" Madam Shen was taken aback by Mo Ling's statement and the bombshell she dropped.

If there was a problem within her own team, then only by distancing herself from them could she possibly avoid the crisis.

But was what the other party said true?

At the same time, as Mo Ling spoke, the few attendants standing behind Madam Shen showed expressions of surprise, looking at each other, and even appearing flustered.

Especially Cui Haoze, who was reporting to Madam Shen, a flicker of panic appeared in his eyes. Had there truly been a mole among them?

Would he be implicated? If Madam Shen were assassinated, they wouldn't fare well either, losing their well-paid jobs, possibly facing investigation, and if unlucky, even their lives.

"To prevent any unforeseen circumstances, you need to leave with me alone to eliminate the hidden danger," Mo Ling continued, unfazed by their unease.

Madam Shen's face was grim. "How can you be sure there's a traitor among my people? Can you confirm who wants to kill me? Do I really need to leave alone?"

Frankly, she didn't want to leave alone, to be on the run.

"We can broadly confirm that someone in your team has been bought," Mo Ling said.

She did not answer Madam Shen's other questions, only stating, "To protect your safety, the simplest approach would be to deploy the War Department's personnel, but we have our own considerations in this matter."

Madam Shen, feeling helpless, made up her mind. "Alright, I'll leave with you."

She turned to her subordinate. "Pack my things!"

However, Cui Haoze, who was standing nearby, stepped forward. "Wait, Madam. I do not agree with this. We need to confirm if this is a trap."

"No need, I've seen the identification, and it's real," Madam Shen said.

"Indeed, you've seen the identification, but what if the identification is fake?" the assistant chimed in after a moment of thought.

Such scams using fake identification were not uncommon.

To be blunt, even within the security department, problems had occurred, where individuals accepted assassination contracts and used their work connections to kill important figures.

Mo Ling observed the scene coldly, remaining silent. Cui Haoze, feeling guilty, dared not meet her gaze.

The assistant looked at Madam Shen, then at Mo Ling. She remained still for a moment before speaking.

"Madam, for safety, let's conduct another verification."

Madam Shen considered it and said to Mo Ling, "If we do this, you don't object, right?"

Mo Ling chuckled lightly. "Please proceed!"

Their caution was understandable.

On the contrary, her coming alone was somewhat questionable.

As long as they confirmed the situation clearly, her subsequent actions would be much smoother.

Of course, the immediate priority was to prevent any accidents.

After all, all her subordinates were suspects.

Soon, Madam Shen called the Bangguo Embassy in Huaguo to confirm. They asked Madam Shen to wait while they contacted the relevant departments.

A few minutes later, the phone rang back.

The Bangguo Ambassador had personally contacted the relevant departments and received further confirmation.

"I apologize for making you wait!" Madam Shen, relieved, picked up her essentials and left the villa with Mo Ling.

As the two women stepped outside the villa, a man suddenly appeared.

He looked ordinary, dressed in plain clothes, with an unremarkable face.

However, Mo Ling immediately tensed. He had a stern face, sharp features, and a tall build, about 1.85 meters.

Moreover, he was powerfully built, like a tower of iron.

Before he even reached them, he exuded an intense aura of pressure.

Madam Shen's face showed panic.

She knew very well that this villa was heavily guarded, with bodyguards patrolling day and night, and the security was extremely tight.

A person like the one before her should not have been able to appear here.

Yet, here he stood, before her.

Mo Ling reached out, grabbed Madam Shen, and stepped forward, shielding her.

"You can't leave now. I've arrived!" he said, with a cold smile. "Hmph, as of now, no one has been born who can escape my grasp!"

Madam Shen gasped. She could feel a powerful pressure, a killing intent as thick as substance.

Mo Ling's expression also turned serious.

Looking at the man opposite her, she knew he would be difficult to deal with.

He was the opponent who had given her the greatest sense of pressure since she began her missions.

The man looked at Mo Ling and gave a cold smile. "What are you waiting for? To tell you the truth, all your War Department personnel stationed outside are dead. Now, woman, hand Madam Shen over to me, and I might consider sparing your life."
