The one standing with Mo Ling before Song Qiao’s eyes was none other than Luo Zhimeng.
Song Qiao was stunned to see the two of them together. After a long silence, he tugged at the corner of his mouth, looking at them with a bewildered expression.
“How come you two are together?”
It didn't make sense!
Luo Zhimeng and Mo Ling normally had no connection, so how could they possibly be together?
Thinking this, Song Qiao’s eyes were filled with confusion.
Seeing Luo Zhimeng in this situation, he felt somewhat disoriented.
The two women exchanged glances. Luo Zhimeng looked at Song Qiao, a smile gracing her lips. She raised her hand to beckon him and called out,
“Long time no see, Song Qiao.”
Mo Ling crossed her arms, her lips curved in a half-smile as she looked at the utterly confused Song Qiao.
“So what if we’re together? Is that not allowed?”
By this time, Song Qiao had recovered from his initial shock. He looked at the two women with a complex expression, shook his head, tapped his forehead, and said with a wry smile,
“It’s not that it’s not allowed, I’m just a bit surprised.”
Luo Zhimeng rolled her eyes. “What’s so surprising? Life is full of uncertainties. If even you didn’t expect it, others would be even more surprised.”
“Only this way can I escape those people’s pursuit.”
Pursuit?
Song Qiao frowned, his heart giving a slight jolt as he looked at Luo Zhimeng.
That sentence held many implications…
He murmured to himself, his face taking on a thoughtful expression. A brief silence fell between them. Song Qiao slowly exhaled.
“Could it be that you, fellow…”
He paused, then reconsidered his words before looking at Luo Zhimeng with a complicated expression.
“That sentence you said is quite loaded. Are you saying you were being chased and Mo Ling happened to save you?”
Luo Zhimeng shrugged, not saying much.
She didn’t wish to dwell on such matters.
Seeing that Luo Zhimeng was reluctant to talk about it, Song Qiao thought for a moment and shook his head, not pressing further.
Especially since he wasn’t here for Luo Zhimeng, but for Mo Ling.
Although he didn’t understand why Mo Ling had brought Luo Zhimeng with her this time,
Perhaps it had something to do with Luo Zhimeng.
With that thought, Song Qiao’s gaze shifted back to Mo Ling.
Seeing Song Qiao’s eyes on her, Mo Ling chuckled softly.
“You two haven’t seen each other in a while, why don’t you catch up?”
Shaking his head, Song Qiao gave Luo Zhimeng a deep look, and a smile suddenly appeared on his face.
“We’ll have plenty of opportunities to chat. But right now, we should be focusing on business. What did you want me for?”
As he spoke, before Mo Ling could reply, Luo Zhimeng patted Mo Ling’s arm and then looked at Song Qiao.
“Let’s talk as we walk. I want to have some fun, and this place should have plenty to do.”
Hearing this, Song Qiao raised his hand and patted his forehead. This girl’s personality truly hadn’t changed at all.
However, it wasn't a significant request, so he nodded without hesitation.
“Of course, no problem. You two pick a place, and whatever you want to do today, it’s my treat.”
With his assurance, Luo Zhimeng’s smile grew even brighter. As they walked, she gently took Song Qiao’s arm. Mo Ling, walking beside them, saw this and smiled faintly, answering Song Qiao’s earlier question.
“Actually, it wasn’t me who looked for you, it was her.”
Song Qiao froze for a moment, looking utterly surprised. When he turned his head, he saw Luo Zhimeng smiling at him.
Rolling her eyes, Song Qiao ruffled Luo Zhimeng’s hair.
“You know me well enough. Why would you need to go through Mo Ling to see me? If you’d asked me out, wouldn’t I have come?”
Luo Zhimeng smiled faintly, not answering the question. Instead, she directly stated the reason for meeting Song Qiao this time.
“Do you remember Li Bingqing?”
“I do.”
“She wants our Luo family’s mine in Nanyang.”
Song Qiao frowned, looking at Luo Zhimeng. Although he was somewhat puzzled, he didn’t ask anything, just listened quietly to her.
He knew Luo Zhimeng likely had more to say.
And Luo Zhimeng didn’t make him wait. Her bright eyes turned to Song Qiao.
“But that mine has been almost fully exploited. Especially when Li Bingqing wanted it, she directly offered forty billion.”
“So I can’t help but feel something is not as simple as it seems.”
She stopped speaking. Song Qiao raised an eyebrow, and seeing that she had no more to say, he sighed.
“It’s good that you could realize this. It seems you’re quite sharp to be able to analyze it so thoroughly.”
Luo Zhimeng smiled faintly.
“It’s something easily deduced. After all, Li Bingqing isn’t an idiot. I don’t believe she’d spend forty billion on a mine that isn’t very useful.”
“So why are you looking for me? What do you want me to do?”
“I want you to tell Li Bingqing that our Luo family is willing to sell.”
“But you must know that behind Li Bingqing is the Guo family.” When the Guo family was mentioned, Song Qiao’s expression visibly soured.
If Li Bingqing obtained this mine, wouldn't it only further the Guo family’s influence?
“Luo Zhimeng, I think you should reconsider this matter…”
But before Song Qiao could finish, Luo Zhimeng interrupted him.
“It’s fine. I know she has state backing, and besides, the conflict between the Guo family and our Luo family isn’t just a day or two old.”
This statement plunged Song Qiao into deep thought. He narrowed his eyes and soon said softly,
“Since you know this, you still intend to invite the wolf into the fold? Do you have a plan?”
“Perhaps it’s a case of ‘shutting the door and beating the dog~’” Luo Zhimeng said with a playful smile.
Song Qiao glanced at her and shook his head.
“This is no small matter. If you want my help, you have to tell me the reason. I can’t just push you into the fire.”
Hearing this, Luo Zhimeng shrugged helplessly. Thinking of her Luo family’s current situation, her expression darkened slightly.
“It’s actually very simple. Our Luo family, after being assassinated last time, was in extreme danger.”
She exhaled, and her voice gradually turned cold.
“I believe you’ve heard about this matter.”
Song Qiao nodded. He exchanged a glance with Mo Ling, and both of them wisely remained silent.
As Luo Zhimeng spoke, she tightened her grip on Song Qiao’s arm and said coldly,
“Now, it’s reached a point of destruction and rebirth.”
“The reason I’m standing here with Mo Ling is that the assassination attempt last time was even more perilous than before. If Mo Ling hadn't saved me, I might be dead already.”
Luo Zhimeng was no longer the same as before; she could understand these matters now.
“The mine in Nanyang is a piece of fat meat right now, and besides the Luo family, other forces are also eyeing it.”
Licking her lips, a glint of ruthlessness flashed in Luo Zhimeng’s eyes, and she said bitterly,
“If we don’t stir up this muddy water, how can we bare our fangs!”
