Chapter 4 Modern Apocalypse, First Batch of Customers

A man and a woman stumbled along the road, with over thirty zombies behind them.

The man, twenty-one or twenty-two years old, clutched his injured arm with one hand, while the girl, fifteen or sixteen, leaned on his shoulder.

The prolonged running had depleted their strength rapidly.

Originally, the siblings had intended to search for supplies, but they hadn't expected such misfortune this time, encountering dozens of zombies.

Both had only Level 1 abilities. Despite their best efforts, the siblings had only managed to kill over thirty zombies. The man had been injured while protecting his sister.

Zombies are highly sensitive to the smell of blood. Some zombies in the vicinity, catching the scent, began to run from all directions.

The man panted heavily and said to the woman beside him, "Sister, don't worry about me. You go quickly. I'll lure them away."

"Brother, don't say such foolish things. I will never abandon you," the girl replied, using her fire-element ability to attack the approaching zombies, speaking loudly.

The siblings ran and fought zombies, not knowing how long they persisted.

Just as the girl was despairing, she suddenly saw lights in the distance.

Although they didn't know where the lights were, they understood that in the apocalypse, a place with lights must have people, and perhaps they could find help there.

"Brother, hold on a little longer. See the lights ahead? We're going there. We might be saved," the girl said excitedly.

The siblings, who had almost no strength left, saw the distant lights as a glimmer of hope, instantly regaining some energy.

They quickened their pace, stumbling towards the lights.

As they got closer, they could read the words on the sign: Good Fortune Fast Food.

The siblings didn't have time to ponder why a fast food restaurant was open here, they just ran desperately forward.

Upon entering the fast food restaurant's protective zone, they noticed the zombies behind them seemed to have lost their target and began to wander aimlessly.

The siblings were surprised but didn't dwell on it, heading straight for the restaurant entrance.

Li Guoguo heard the sound of people running and immediately stopped eating.

"Oh, finally some customers!"

Luo Yunshi saw the siblings, and they saw her.

The siblings sized up the girl before them. She was clean, with a rosy complexion, and didn't look like someone who had been in the apocalypse for two years.

Luo Yunshi was in a great mood, seeing two people running towards her on her grand opening day.

"As expected, the name Good Fortune has brought good fortune. Haha~" Luo Yunshi muttered softly.

"Hello! Welcome to Good Fortune Fast Food!" Luo Yunshi put down her chopsticks, stood up, and said with a smile.

The two were stunned, then their faces lit up with joy. They were saved!

"Is this store yours?" the sister quickly asked.

"Uh, yes, I'm the boss here," Luo Yunshi replied with a gentle smile.

The brother looked confused, wondering why the zombies couldn't enter earlier. But he knew it wasn't the time to talk. He just wanted to ask Luo Yunshi if they could come in to rest.

"We'd like to come in and rest for a while. Is that okay?" the brother asked tentatively.

"Of course, it is. This is a fast food restaurant. You can stay for 1 hour without eating. If you eat, you can stay for 6 hours. You'll be asked to leave after exceeding the time limit. Would you like to eat?" Luo Yunshi said with a smile, walking towards the tables by the door, intending to show the siblings the bento boxes.

The siblings' mouths fell open when they saw the four dishes, one soup, and one fruit on the table.

This... how is this possible? Do these things truly exist? This is the apocalypse!

Even though the bases were cultivating vegetables, they hadn't managed to grow many, and they were tightly controlled by a select few in power. For ordinary ability users like themselves, even dreaming of tasting them was a pipe dream. Yet, here were vegetables and fruits right before their eyes.

Luo Yunshi smiled at their astonished expressions and continued, "Don't worry, these are real food, and they're edible." With that, Luo Yunshi sat down and began to eat.

Seeing Luo Yunshi eat, the brother dared to believe that the food before them was real. Smelling the aroma of the dishes and seeing the large, fresh Kyoho grapes, he couldn't help but swallow. He was starving and craving.

"Boss, how can we buy these bento boxes from you?" the sister asked, swallowing hard.

"This bento box with four dishes, one soup, and one fruit costs only 15 points. You can exchange for points at the exchange machine on the left side of the store using gold, silver, jewelry, or any other encountered items. The machine will then scan your identity information and the value of the item. When you take a bento box from the fast food restaurant, your points will be automatically deducted. Each person's points are only visible to them and stored on the machine. You can transfer points in your mind by thinking about who to transfer to, and the transfer will be successful," Luo Yunshi explained patiently.

The siblings were both shocked. What kind of advanced technology was this? Even before the apocalypse, such powerful high-tech hadn't existed. Mind transfers and facial recognition payments?

"Then... what if someone's face is disfigured?" the sister asked. She was worried that if someone's face was disfigured, they wouldn't be able to use facial recognition payment, and their points would be wasted.

"It's okay. As long as the person is alive, disfigurement or plastic surgery won't be a problem. Facial recognition will still be successful because the machine displays the guest's original appearance," Luo Yunshi said with a smile.

Hearing this, the sister touched the gold ring in her pocket and looked at her brother.

"Brother, let's eat something! We can rest here for longer too."

The brother looked at the abundant food and fruit on the table, then at his sister.

"Alright, let's go to the exchange machine first."

With that, the siblings walked towards the exchange machine.

Luo Yunshi, fearing they wouldn't know how to use it, followed them. She also wanted to see how the exchange machine worked, as she only knew how to use it but had never tried it herself.

The brother and sister stood before the exchange machine, gazing at the large metal contraption. There were various buttons and instructions on it.

"Please place the item for exchange into the exchange window," a mechanical voice announced.

The brother immediately followed the machine's prompt and took out the gold ring he had obtained from a jewelry store, placing it into the exchange window.

The moment the gold ring was placed in the exchange window, it vanished.

"Ding! Exchange successful! Name: Su Hang. Gender: Male. Age: 23. Points: 1000." A mechanical voice sounded.

Simultaneously, the screen of the exchange machine displayed the exchanger's name, gender, age, and facial features. The point data was hidden and only visible to the exchanger.
