Chapter 93: Rank Up!
Chapter 93
"What does the master want to say?" a Reaver who was downstairs asked.
Currently, every Reaver in the SilverFall Clan, including Tom and a few other higher-ranked Reavers, was present.
The rest either didn’t bother to show up or were out on missions of some sort, hence only a handful of B-rank and above Reavers had gathered. About five of them, including Tom, were where they stood or sat, while no low-rankers dared to stay within the vicinity.
Zen and the rest were also in the hall after being called out by a Reaver from Zen’s room.
"Who knows? He rarely comes out, and now he suddenly asks for a meeting? It’s strange." A Reaver muttered with a shake of his head.
"Tom." A B-ranked Reaver who sat beside Tom leaned closer. "Any idea what the master has to say?"
"If I did, I wouldn’t have bothered coming down here again since I’d already know what the meeting was about. So, to answer your question, no, I don’t." Tom bluntly replied, his sword strapped to his back as his sharp eyes scanned the entire hall.
"Tch! Guess we just have to wait and see then." The Reaver clicked his tongue as he turned away.
"Where even is the master?" another Reaver asked, but soon enough, their answer arrived.
The sound of the wind rattling faintly filled the room, and all eyes lifted to the ceiling. There, the master appeared, dressed in an oversized coat, hovering steadily in the air before descending and landing gracefully on the bar counter with his legs crossed.
His whole aura pressed down on the hall, thick and heavy, silencing even the most talkative among them.
His wrinkled face, the gruffy white moustache perched above his lips, and the way his eyes seemed to peer straight into their very souls made him appear both ancient and terrifying at once.
"That is the master?" Zen muttered, his gaze narrowing as he studied the short man who looked no taller than five feet.
"Don’t underestimate him." Jace whispered back quickly. "That man is a double S-rank, and that means he has a terrifying amount of strength even though he’s quite old."
’Double S-rank? Him? Shit! That means he’s almost at the pinnacle of human strength! Can I even reach that level, much less surpass it?’ Zen thought, his eyes glued to the master again and again.
"Ahem!" The master cleared his throat with a single cough, and the entire hall went silent at once. "Before I begin with the reason I called you here, allow me to properly introduce myself to those who don’t know who I am."
’Is he kidding us? It’s clear he’s the master of the clan.’ Zen thought, puzzled.
"My name is Zuki Kaelith, and I’m a double S-ranked Reaver, as well as the master of the SilverFall Clan. I practically founded and built it with my own hands." Zuki chuckled lightly as his piercing gaze swept over the silent crowd. "Sheesh. Tough crowd."
"Cut to the chase, old man. What are we here for?" a Reaver with bulging muscles growled. He looked ridiculously strong and carried himself with the confidence of an AA-ranked Reaver, a scowl planted firmly on his face.
’Wait! Did he just address Master Zuki so casually? Crap! He’s definitely going to get deleted.’ Vynn thought nervously as he swallowed a huge lump of saliva.
"You’re very impatient, I must say." Zuki laughed, his tone lighthearted even as the oppressive aura around him grew heavier.
He wiped at the corner of his eye as though tears had spilled from laughter. "Anyway, I won’t beat around the bush too much. First off, I want to congratulate every single Reaver who defended the clan a week ago during the portal break."
At once, a hush fell across the entire hall. The atmosphere turned heavy, and every single Reaver was forced to recall the brutal event. It was as fresh in their minds as the morning’s bread.
The memory of battle, the screams, the blood, and most of all, the comrades they had lost that day—it weighed down on them like a stone pressing against their hearts.
Kael and Rina didn’t know how to react. Both clenched their hands tightly, their knuckles turning pale as they wrestled with the emotional pain of remembering that day, yet they forced themselves to stay calm and listen to what the master had to say.
"I got a hold of those that did their absolute best to prevent any more casualties by defeating the beasts. Which is why I’m awarding every Reaver here who fought in the battle one hundred MP each," Master Zuki declared, his voice carrying a calm but unshakable weight.
The hall erupted in low murmurs, Reavers staring at one another in confusion and disbelief.
’One hundred MP? If I remember correctly, I should have gotten seventy MP for taking care of that dungeon raid. Adding this hundred, I’ve got one hundred and seventy, plus the two hundred and fifty MP I received earlier.
That’s four hundred and twenty MP in total, which means I only need two hundred and eighty more to finally become a B-ranked Reaver!’ Zen thought excitedly, his grin stretching wider and wider as numbers ran through his mind like music.
Kael, however, only sighed and shook his head. ’Still three hundred MP away from reaching the B rank.’
’Four hundred MP away,’ Rina thought with a quiet frown.
’Just two hundred more,’ Jace thought eagerly, his hand trembling slightly as he tried to contain his anticipation.
’Two hundred too, before I become a B ranker,’ Erin thought with her heartbeat thundering in her chest.
’Oh well, just need three hundred MP before I can rise up,’ Vynn mused casually, stretching his arms and letting out a long yawn as though it were nothing worth stressing about.
’Finally!’ Aria cheered inwardly, her eyes darting to the back of her hand. A soft glow erupted there, and in an instant, her rank shifted upward, changing from ’D’ to ’C’. ’I’m now a C-ranked Reaver. Too bad I still don’t have a Veil.’
"I’m sure the majority of the D-ranked Reavers here are already seeing their ranks changing. Congratulations to you all," Master Zuki praised, his gravelly voice echoing through the silence.
"And as an additional reward, I am granting two hundred MP each to the five individuals who successfully took down the B-ranked boss."
"What?!" Jace and the others shot up to their feet in absolute shock, their voices blending into a single cry.
"Yes," Zuki confirmed with a firm nod. "Five individuals: C-ranked Reaver Jace, Reaver Erin, Vynn, Ryker, and Reaver Zen are each awarded two hundred MP for the successful defeat of the B-ranked boss."
And right on cue, the backs of both Jace and Erin’s hands began glowing brightly. In an instant, their ranks shifted once more, climbing from ’C’ to ’B’ before the stunned eyes of the hall.
"Congratulations! You are both officially B-ranked Reavers. With that, the limitations placed upon you and your Veils from earlier have been removed.
From this point onward, you can learn more skills and grow far stronger. Congratulations again." Master Zuki’s words struck like a heavy drum, leaving the duo almost too stunned to process what had just happened.
’Not too bad. I just need eighty more MP before I join the B ranks too,’ Zen thought, grinning from ear to ear. His excitement bubbled like a storm beneath his skin.
"Alright. Congratulations to them and all that," the double A-ranked Reaver finally spoke, his deep voice cutting through the room, "but I know that’s not the real reason you called the rest of us higher-ups here."
"Didn’t think I was that easy to read," Zuki chuckled, his moustache twitching with the motion. "But you’re right. There’s more, and this time it isn’t about just us—it’s about the fact that our help is currently needed."
