Chapter 89: The Dredfang Lycan boss is dead!

Chapter 89

"Thunder Flash!"

"Wheel of Death!"

"Cold Death!"

"Bull Thrust!"

Jace, Vynn, Erin, and Ryker called out in unison and with a deafening thunderclap, they all exploded forward with the aim of finishing the beast off once and for all.

First to get to the beast was Vynn due to his speed after using the lightning Veil. He blitzed forward like a blur, sword still sheathed while his hand rested on the hilt. In a flash, he drew the sword and swung it out, producing a small lightning slash that screamed through the air toward the beast.

"Growl!"

The beast let out a furious roar as its calves bulged heavily, muscles tightening like steel cables. Without hesitation, it leaped up and swung its foot, aiming to smash the lightning attack into oblivion. Sparks scattered violently as the blow connected, successfully dispersing the attack.

But then, Vynn himself appeared in the air, moving like a streak of blue light. With all his strength, he smashed his sword straight into the beast’s leg. The impact rang out like clashing metal.

Cracks that had long been spiderwebbing across Vynn’s blade deepened instantly, and with a deafening ring, the sword shattered into a dozen glittering pieces. Yet, the force of the strike flung the beast out of the air like a falling boulder.

It landed on its feet smoothly, claws digging into the dirt for balance, with only a thin trickle of blood dripping down its leg.

BANG!

Ryker thrust his sword into the air with raw force, the sound reverberating like thunder. An invisible wind attack shaped like the horn of a massive beast shot out with blistering speed, slicing the very air apart.

The beast, slower to react this time, tried to twist away, leaning back at the last second. The attack only grazed its shoulder, but even that shallow cut ripped open flesh, drawing a gush of blood that sprayed down its chest.

"Die, motherfucking bastard." Erin whispered with icy fury as she suddenly appeared behind the beast. Her ice-encased sword shimmered like a frozen fang, and with determination burning in her eyes, she swung it at full speed.

The beast, sensing the cold presence, spun around and slammed its claw into the blade with brutal force.

But it had made one mistake—allowing the ice to touch it. The moment it did, frost spread rapidly, encasing its claws in thick ice that made its hand sluggish and heavy.

Snarling in rage, the beast reacted by stomping forward and slamming its foot directly into Erin’s stomach. Her body was flung away like a broken doll, blood spraying out of her mouth as her eyes rolled dangerously close to the back of her head.

"Thanks, Erin." Jace whispered, his usually calm blue eyes now turning bloodshot with rage.

He leaped into the air, his aura twisting. Instead of unleashing a simple arc of water like he normally did, he spun in the air like a deadly ferris wheel. Water began swirling around him, wrapping his body like a storm.

With a loud splash mixed with a sharp bang, Jace came crashing down onto the beast. The swirling torrent smashed into it with devastating force.

The ice covering its claws shattered completely, and even its claws themselves cracked apart under the pressure. The beast was hurled back like a ragdoll, its huge body crashing into the ground with bone-jarring force.

Its body bounced and tumbled, tearing up the earth, while deep cracks spread across the ground. Its wounds widened further, blood spraying out as it struggled to rise.

"Take one more for killing Renzo!" Jace roared from above, his voice filled with fury. Everyone could see him spinning again in the air, determination blazing in his bloodshot eyes.

"Waterfall!" the C-ranked Reaver thundered as he swung his sword down vertically.

A gigantic torrent of water, like a real waterfall summoned from the heavens, came crashing down. It smashed into the beast with earth-shaking force.

The impact was catastrophic. A shockwave blasted outward, sending bodies flying aside, and those standing were forced to skid back, shielding their eyes from the violent gust of wind.

The beast, trapped beneath the raging torrent, roared in agony as its body was pinned and crushed.

The weight of the water pressed down mercilessly, deepening the cracks beneath it. Blood filled its maw and poured out in violent sprays as its body sank deeper into the crater forming below.

Finally, after a few brutal seconds, the torrent ceased. Silence followed, broken only by the sound of rushing water fading into mist.

Jace landed a metre away from the beast but immediately staggered to his knees, gasping and panting heavily.

His reopened wounds poured blood down his sides, his breath ragged and shallow. His hands trembled uncontrollably, and his sword slipped from his grip, clattering weakly to the ground.

All he could do was watch, eyes wide and heart racing, praying that his devastating strike had been enough to finally end the nightmare.

The others too were spent, battered, and unable to lift a muscle as they stared at the deep hole which Jace had made the Lycan sink into, hoping that they had finally won. But then...

GROWL!

The beast let out a guttural roar as it slowly rose from the crater, its body drenched in streams of black blood. One hand was gone from the earlier fight, the second no longer bore its claw, severed and ruined.

A deep diagonal gash tore across its chest from Zen’s weapon, a slash cut into its leg, two deep punctures ran along its arm from Aria’s arrows, and countless other wounds marred its once ferocious body.

Yet even with all of that, it was still standing, glaring with hatred at the weak humans before it.

The Reavers felt their heartbeats quicken as dread filled them. They knew there was literally nothing else they could do. All they could do was stand there, battered and helpless, and watch as the beast took step after step towards them.

"You know," Zen began as he stepped forward, sword in hand, his boots crunching against the cracked ground with every measured stride.

’Inspect!’

{Beast’s Health: Critically Low}

"You’re really not the big threat you tried to look like," Zen said with a wide grin splitting across his face.

"And do you know why you’re going to lose?" His tone was calm yet mocking, the grin widening as he took a stance. The hand that gripped his sword stretched back, his body leaning forward. The beast growled louder, no longer rooted to its spot.

With a furious lunge, it dashed forward with what little strength it could muster. Sluggish and broken from countless injuries, its speed was nothing compared to before.

Zen only cackled, his eyes gleaming as he shot forward to meet the beast head-on.

BAM!

He suddenly increased his speed, shooting forward like a streak of lightning as a system message flashed across his face.

{Skill: Phantom Edge has been activated}

The beast swung its hand towards Zen’s face, claws whistling through the air, but Zen leaped to the side, dodging by the skin of his teeth. Taking advantage of the opening, he lunged diagonally, swinging his blade with all his might.

The beast tried to lean back, desperate to avoid the strike, but Zen was faster. His sword carved into the deep gash across its chest, forcing the beast to howl in agony.

Black blood sprayed and gushed like a fountain as Zen pressed harder, his blade sinking deeper. But after five inches, it stuck. The beast snarled, lifting its hand towards Zen’s face in retaliation.

"You’re facing a pro gamer who now has a cheat... one who knows all weaknesses. So tell me—how won’t you lose?" Zen whispered, his voice laced with a devilish smirk as his sword lit up with strange, eerie energy.

{Phantom used!}

The moment the message flashed, Zen smirked wider. He leapt away, his blade dragging trails of blood through the air. Turning his back on the beast, he walked calmly toward his clan members, the faint sound of his boots echoing like victory bells.

The beast stood frozen in confusion, but not for long.

BANG!

A thunderous boom split the air as the energy inside Zen’s sword detonated. In the same spot where his blade had struck, another phantom slash appeared, as if a ghostly blade followed his strike. The gash across the beast’s chest widened violently, blood gushing out in a torrent.

The Lycan’s eyes widened before its body gave out, collapsing to the ground with a heavy, resounding thud that shook the battlefield.

Tring!

{Quest Completed! B ranked beast dead}
