Chapter 72: Finish Things Calmly!

Chapter 72: Finish Things Calmly!

Chapter 72

BANG!

The Lycan he had sliced off its arms leapt up and planted a brutal roundhouse kick into his face, lifting his body and hurling it away with terrifying speed as blood sprayed violently from his mouth.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

That was what the Lycans heard as they turned toward the direction Jace had been sent flying.

The young Reaver could be seen staggering forward, blood dripping down his lips in a crimson trail, yet his eyes burned fiercely as he strode forward with defiance.

The Lycans froze for a moment, stunned at how fast he had managed to recover from such a devastating blow. His blonde hair whipped in the wind as he dragged his sword along the ground, then raised it with a faint grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.

"Sorry to disappoint you all," Jace said, gripping his sword tightly before taking a stance a single metre away from the snarling beasts. His voice was steady, filled with unshaken resolve.

"I’m not dead... but you all will be."

Growl!

AWHOOOO!

The beasts howled in unison, fury surging through their bodies as they dashed toward Jace in a blur of speed.

Yet the young Reaver stood perfectly still, eyes snapping shut in concentration. His breathing slowed, his muscles relaxed, and the air itself seemed to still around him as though the world was waiting for his next move.

BANG!

The mutilated Lycan, the one whose arms he had sliced earlier, leapt into the air with a deafening bang and swung its leg in a vicious roundhouse aimed directly for Jace’s neck.

"Not going to work again." The young Reaver muttered under his breath. His eyes snapped open, sharp and glowing with determination, and in a single swift motion he spun on his heel and brought his sword down to meet the Lycan’s foot.

BOOOOM!

The collision sent out an immense shockwave, earth splintering beneath them. Water rippled and surged from around Jace’s sword, forming a liquid barrier that absorbed the blow. With a surge of power, he redirected the beast’s momentum and flung it aside with a brutal sweep.

Just in time—because the second Lycan was already there, fist cocked back, aiming for Jace’s skull.

"To wield the Water Veil, one must remain calm," Jace’s voice rang out, steady despite the chaos. "Calm and smooth... like still waters."

He leapt backward, narrowly avoiding the punch. But before his boots even touched the ground, he felt a killing intent rise directly behind him. The third beast had anticipated his retreat.

BAM!

Its kick struck him square in the back, the impact exploding through his body as he stumbled forward—straight into the waiting claws of another Lycan.

Its razor-sharp strike descended, aiming to split his head apart in one clean motion.

"Which is why I’ve always been calm, even in the face of danger... and ridicule." His eyes flashed with fury as he tightened his grip on his blade. His normally serene blue irises, like calm lakes, scrunched into a storm of rage.

"But right now..." he roared as he raised his sword high above his head, "I don’t know why... I just want to rip you all to shreds!"

He brought the blade crashing down with devastating force.

CRAAAAASH!

A torrential gush of water surged from above, slamming into the Lycan’s claw with enough force to rip its limb clean off. The beast howled in pain as it was hurled back, skidding across the battlefield.

Jace’s chest heaved, his rage boiling over, but before he could react to the next threat, the air shifted behind him. His eyes widened—too late.

BAM!

Another Lycan’s foot smashed into his abdomen with monstrous force. Blood erupted from his lips as his vision blurred, his body hurled into the air like a ragdoll.

He was airborne, spinning helplessly, when the second Lycan intercepted him mid-flight. With merciless precision, it slammed a fist into his back, accelerating his descent.

CRAAASH!

His body plummeted into the ground like a meteor, the impact birthing a massive crater that split the battlefield. Dust and debris exploded outward, and silence fell for a heartbeat.

Inside the crater, Jace’s body twitched faintly. His sword still lay clutched in his hand, his blood dripping into the dirt. Yet even in that state, the fire in his eyes hadn’t dimmed.

The force of the slam caused a violent gust of dust and dirt to erupt out, obscuring almost all of the Reavers’ view across the battlefield. The thick cloud made the entire place hazy, with only faint silhouettes visible through the grit.

"What was that?" a Reaver asked in shock as he waved his hand frantically through the air, trying to clear the dust from his vision.

"I think someone just got wrecked hard," another muttered, eyes narrowed.

"Shit! Wait! Isn’t that Jace?"

"It really is him. Damn it! Jace got wrecked? The hell is happening?!"

"I have realised," a voice called out firmly from the middle of the dust. A figure slowly rose from the deep crater where his body had been smashed into.

Blood spilled freely from his mouth, yet his blue eyes, which only moments ago had been blazing with fierce anger, were now as calm as a still body of water.

His blonde hair waved and fluttered lightly in the air, unaffected by the chaos around him, as he finally stood upright. The Lycans he was facing immediately stiffened, their sharp instincts warning them that the aura before them was no longer the same.

"Getting angry doesn’t get me anywhere," Jace said evenly, his voice carrying a strange serenity. He gripped his sword tighter, raising it in front of his face, the blade gleaming as it pointed directly at the beasts in front of him.

"So as usual, let’s calmly finish things," he muttered, his tone almost chilling in its composure.

Growl!

The beasts let out a united roar as they charged forward with immense speed and force. The ground trembled under their might, yet Jace did not flinch.

Like before, he stood upright, his eyes closing as the air around him stilled completely, mimicking the tranquil nature of undisturbed water.

The beast whose arms he had sliced earlier leapt high off the ground once again with brutal power, the spot it had been standing on splitting apart into cracks. With frightening agility, it swung its foot around, aiming another devastating roundhouse kick.

"Water Veil: Wheel of Death." Jace’s calm voice rang out. In a fluid motion, he sidestepped the deadly strike, avoiding the kick that smashed into the ground with a deafening bang. Without missing a beat, his sword sliced through the air in a clean arc, water erupting outward in a spinning circle.

The circle slammed into the beast’s legs with crushing force, decimating them completely and leaving the monster crippled, howling in pain.

Jace tightened his grip, ready to dash forward and end the beast’s life, but before he could make his move, rapid footsteps closed in from behind.

The second Lycan. Its hulking figure appeared from the haze, eyes gleaming with fury.

Its claws shot forward, aiming to rip Jace apart and decapitate him in one savage strike. But without even turning around, Jace simply thrust his sword backward.

SHLUKK!

The blade pierced through the beast’s abdomen in a flash, tearing a gaping hole through its torso. A spray of dark blood followed, and only then did Jace finally turn, his cold eyes locking onto the creature as he delivered a savage kick.

The force of the blow sent the beast’s body flying backward like a ragdoll.

Without hesitation, water rippled beneath his feet like a living current. Harnessing its force, Jace propelled himself forward with blinding speed, his figure becoming a blur.

SWISSH!

His sword sliced cleanly through the air, the movement as smooth as flowing water. A heartbeat later, the Lycan’s severed head fell to the ground with a heavy thud, rolling lifelessly across the battlefield.
