Chapter 93: Brothers in Arms!
Chapter 92
Kek, Kek, Kek!
Cackle, Cackle, Cackle!
The twin bosses could be heard laughing menacingly together. Their laughter was so deep and fear-inducing that even Jim, who was about five metres away, was trembling in fear as if his knees might give out at any moment.
’Huh? Why are th...’
Tring!
{Skill: Draconic Suppression Aura forcefully Deactivated}
’What the hell?!’ Max roared internally as he saw the system notification flash in front of his eyes.
’Pix! What the fuck is going on? Why and how is the skill forcefully deactivated?!’
"I...I don’t know. Something is wrong, but I don’t know what." Pix replied in a flustered tone, and that was when they all saw something that made their stomachs twist.
The hammer-wielding goblin lifted its weapon high. The crude hammer suddenly extended in length, metal screeching like it was alive, and in the next second, the goblin smashed it onto the ground. Max’s eyes widened instantly.
An aura so intense spread out with crushing force that it was like the very world bent under its weight. Max was immediately forced to his knees with a loud bang.
His kneecaps cracked the ground beneath him as even breathing suddenly became difficult, his lungs fighting for air as if he was drowning.
’How is this possible? Aren’t they just King tier beasts? H...it’s that weapon. But how is it this powerful?!’ Max thought as his jaw clenched hard, grinding his teeth back and forth in pain until sparks nearly shot across his vision.
Jake, on the other hand, was surprisingly able to remain standing, but it looked like he was struggling too. His fists were tightly clenched, his knuckles whitening, veins bulging across his arms.
"Is that supposed to scare me?!" Jake roared as he snapped his head up defiantly and, with all his strength, he shot forward at an astonishing speed that shattered the ground where he stood.
The goblins saw this and were instantly shocked, but they quickly regained composure. The one wielding the sword dashed to meet Jake in the center of the battlefield.
With a loud swoosh, its sword was swung with brutal strength toward Jake, who immediately leaped high into the air, avoiding the blade with practiced ease, his body twisting midair like a gymnast.
He was about to retaliate when the hammer goblin quickly reacted by hurling its massive weapon towards him.
The hammer spun into the air with crushing speed, tearing through the wind, and in the blink of an eye, it smashed into Jake’s side with bone-crushing force. The hunter was immediately hurled out of the air and sent crashing into the ground like a meteor.
"Fuck!" Jake cursed inwardly as his body tumbled and bounced violently across the dirt before he managed to slam his palms into the ground, finally bringing his skidding form to a halt.
"That was painfully fun." He grinned widely despite the ache surging through his ribs as he saw the goblins taking their time to walk towards him as if they owned the whole place. Which, technically, they did.
’Come on! Stand, body, stand!’ Max roared internally as he struggled to push himself up, but no matter how much willpower he forced into his limbs, his body refused to listen.
Before anybody could blink, the beasts suddenly moved like blurs, their heavy frames deceptively fast. In a second, they appeared beside Jake with their weapons already swinging at an incredible speed, the air hissing around the strikes.
"Once bitten," Jake muttered as his eyes suddenly bulged a bit, then narrowed with sharp focus.
"Twice shy." He chuckled, and with a forceful push of his palms against the ground, he exploded forward just in time, causing the goblins’ weapons to smash into the spot where he had been standing. The earth cracked violently, dust clouds erupting into the air.
"You won’t get me again!" Jake roared as his arms bulged immensely, his muscles swelling so hard they almost ripped through his uniform. Without wasting a second, he smashed his fists into the ground with crushing force.
A massive slab of earth was instantly kicked up, breaking free like a shield of stone. Without missing a beat, Jake smashed his palm into it, hurling it forward at neck-breaking speed straight toward the twin goblins.
The sword goblin, on seeing this, dashed forth and swung its blade, slicing the stone slab cleanly in two with a sharp clang. Unfortunately for it, Jake was already directly in front of it with a wide smile stretched across his face.
"Gotcha." He said calmly and coolly. Without hesitation, he delivered a direct, powerful uppercut that slammed into the goblin’s abdomen with crushing force.
The beast’s eyes bulged, spit flew from its mouth, and its body was hurled backward with immense speed until it crashed violently into its brother.
And they were sent skidding at full speed, but the sword goblin quickly stabbed its blade into the ground, dragging its body to a halt.
Jake wasn’t about to let up. His figure blurred as he dashed forward with blistering speed, but the hammer goblin shook its head. Without pity or hesitation, it slammed its hammer into the ground with such crushing force that a deep crater appeared beneath its feet.
Almost instantly, the pressure blanketed the humans like an invisible mountain. The force intensified to the point even Lana was driven to her knees.
Her wings receded back into her body with a violent snap, her teeth ground together painfully, and even her talons reversed back into her normal feet with audible cracks.
And the one this attack was mainly directed at—Jake was visibly faltering. His movements slowed, his speed cut down immensely, and he almost dropped fully to his knees. But he refused to bow.
He clenched his fists so tightly that his nails dug deep into his palms, blood seeping through his skin.
Then, before the overwhelming force could crush him completely, he slammed his feet into the ground. With his teeth gritted hard enough to nearly crack, he exploded forward again with immense speed, roaring defiantly against the weight pressing him down.
"Just die!" he bellowed in fury as he charged directly at the sword goblin, which had already braced itself. The beast swung its sword in a wide arc with lethal intent.
"Tch! Get lost." Jake muttered coldly. He stomped the ground, pivoting his body with sharp precision, smoothly avoiding the sword by inches, and in the same instant appearing beside the hammer goblin.
Seeing the human speeding toward it, the hammer goblin panicked. It slammed its weapon into the ground once more, trying to intensify the crushing pressure. This time it worked. The moment Jake closed the gap, his body was hit by an even heavier wave.
"Fuck!" Jake cursed as his knees buckled and smashed violently into the ground, cracking it like fragile glass.
"Shit! Jake!" Lana shouted. She tried to force her trembling body to move, her veins bulging from the strain, but all she could do was watch. Her knees were scraping and bleeding immensely as she struggled against the aura.
Yet Jake’s face twisted into a smile despite being forced down while the goblins closed in, their weapons raised for the kill.
"Don’t move. You’re injured, right? Don’t push yourself," Jake replied calmly, his knees still digging deeper into the broken ground beneath him. The pressure crushed his body, but he never looked away from the incoming beasts.
"But you’ll get killed!" Lana screamed desperately, blood dripping down her legs as she kept trying to move.
"Don’t worry," Jake smirked wider, his eyes flashing as he turned to face the goblins that were now mere steps away. "My brother will handle them."
The moment those words left his lips...
CLAP!
KABOOOM!
An immense shockwave erupted with devastating force. The violent blast hurled the goblins off their feet and sent them crashing through the air, tumbling and skidding like broken dolls. The crushing pressure that weighed on everyone was instantly shattered, countered back by a stronger force.
"You’re getting too cocky nowadays. And FYI, I’m not your brother."
Max’s voice rang out cold and sharp, carried on the tail of the shockwave as he stepped forward through the settling dust.
