Chapter 103: A Devil in human form!
Chapter 102
"Take them out," Lenny calmly said as he pointed to the others, his eyes never leaving Jake, who was still in the air and heading straight toward him.
"No you don’t!" Jake roared, literally, as his four hands clapped together with a deafening smack. The collision produced a violent shockwave that blasted through the air and slammed into half the men, sending them hurling several metres away like ragdolls caught in a storm.
Jake then crashed heavily into the ground, the impact kicking up a massive gust of wind. The force sent another shockwave rippling outward, slamming into the remaining men.
They staggered and fought against the pressure, their muscles straining, but unlike the others they managed to hold their footing, though cracks spread under their boots.
"Know your place, kid." Lenny cackled as he blurred forward in the twinkle of an eye, his movement so fast it seemed as if he had warped through space itself. In an instant, his massive pincers cut toward Jake’s head at breakneck speed, their sharp edges glinting with murderous intent.
"You should know your place," Jake clapped back, his deep voice thundering as he slammed two of his hands around the incoming pincer. With all his brute strength, he stopped it dead in its tracks.
The collision echoed like thunder. The ground beneath them shattered violently, mounds of cracked earth and chunks of stone kicking into the air. Dust swirled around the two figures as Jake’s teeth ground together in visible pain, his arms trembling from the sheer pressure he was holding back.
Before he could counter, Lenny’s foot shot out with brutal precision, smashing into Jake’s abdomen with crushing force. The gorilla hybrid’s body went hurling into the air, twisting violently.
Yet he was not one to stay down for long. Mid-flight, he flipped with astonishing agility, slamming his palm into the ground and grinding his massive body to a skidding halt, tearing a deep trench into the earth as sparks and dust flew.
"That tickled," Jake taunted with a savage grin stretching across his bloodied face. His grin barely had time to settle before a thunderclap burst through the battlefield.
Lenny had moved again. In the blink of an eye, he materialized directly in front of Jake, his presence crushing like a predator about to finish its prey.
Without hesitation, Lenny swung his pincers upward from below, aiming straight for Jake’s jaw to smash it apart. Jake, however, roared with defiance.
With every muscle in his hulking frame straining, he pressed down on all four arms, and like a coiled spring unleashed, he shot into the sky with a deafening bang. The ground beneath him cracked open, fissures splitting outward like veins across the battlefield.
While airborne, Jake slammed all four palms together with a roar that shook the heavens. A massive shockwave erupted, rattling the very air and causing the land below to quake. Yet Lenny merely shrugged it off as if swatting away dust. Without pause, he launched himself upward with a boom, cutting through the air like a missile.
In an eye-blink, he was upon Jake. Lenny didn’t waste a second. His fist, carrying the weight of a hammer and the speed of lightning, smashed into Jake’s gut with devastating power.
The impact hurled the hybrid out of the sky. He plummeted like a meteor, his body crashing into the ground with enough force to gouge out a crater five metres deep and wide. Dust and debris blasted into the air, cloaking the battlefield in a choking cloud.
"There’s a reason I’m in my father’s gang!" Lenny roared, his voice booming with arrogance as he ripped through the dust cloud like a phantom. In less than a second, he was in front of Jake, who was already dragging himself to his feet despite the fresh blood dripping from his mouth.
A savage kick connected with the gorilla’s face. The impact was so brutal that Jake’s massive body was flung across the ground, bouncing and tumbling with violent force. The earth cracked with every roll, leaving a path of devastation in his wake.
"You should learn to know your damn place!" Lenny cackled as he leaped forward, faster than Jake’s body could even settle. In an instant, he was already behind the tumbling hybrid.
BANG!
Lenny’s pincers clamped together, and with monstrous strength, he swung them like a colossal baseball bat. They slammed into Jake’s back with crushing force, a strike so heavy the air froze for a single heartbeat.
For that moment, it almost seemed like Jake had withstood the blow. But then, the delayed impact roared. A deafening bang followed by a shockwave ripped outward, hurling the gorilla hybrid’s body like a cannonball.
In the blink of an eye, Jake’s body smashed into the tall gate that marked the outskirts of the tier 3 town, twenty metres away.
BANG!
The gate groaned and cracked from the force of the collision before Jake’s massive body slid off, hitting the ground with a dull thud. He spat blood, his chest heaving, his eyes burning with rage as he glared forward.
"Shit! That was hard. Thanks to my body’s endurance and durability, I’m not dead yet. Otherwise, if it were someone else, they would have already met their doom." Jake muttered beneath his breath as he glanced down at his trembling hands, then shifted his gaze to Lenny, who stood in the distance preparing to make his move.
’Zach, you made a huge mistake by asking for your family’s help. Now you’ve forced my hand,’ Jake sighed inwardly, his eyes narrowing into slits as killing intent seeped out of him.
BOOM!
Lenny exploded forward with breakneck speed, the ground bursting beneath his feet as an afterimage was left behind. In an instant, he appeared in front of Jake and went straight for the kill. But this time, the hunter was ready.
All four of Jake’s arms shot forward, moving so fast that the air cracked apart. A deafening bang echoed out as his punches shattered the sound barrier itself.
Before Lenny could react, the gorilla hybrid’s fists slammed into his gut with excruciating force. The ground beneath them cratered instantly, stone and soil bursting outward in every direction.
In the very next second, Lenny’s body was hurled several metres away, twisting violently as spit shot from his mouth. Agonizing pain contorted his features, but Jake wasn’t done. Not even close.
With a feral snarl, Jake pressed harder against the ground, his colossal feet stomping down and crushing the earth beneath him into powder. Then, like a rocket launched into the sky, he propelled himself forward with blistering speed. Each thunderous stomp shook the battlefield, echoing like the march of an enraged beast.
He caught up in an instant. Lenny was still midair when Jake appeared directly before him, his shadow looming like a predator ready to devour its prey. With all four fists coiled, Jake unleashed a barrage of punches, swinging with the fury of a monster.
But at the very last moment, Lenny’s figure blurred. In a blink, he sidestepped, reappearing right beside Jake. The gorilla hybrid’s fists struck only the air, the sheer force of the missed blow creating a loud bang and sending shockwaves tearing through the battlefield.
"You should have stepped back when you had the chance. You could have gone scot-free," Lenny barked, his voice dripping with arrogance as his pincers swung forward with blistering speed, aiming straight for Jake’s skull.
Jake grinned, his head tilting just enough for the deadly pincers to whistle past his cheek, close enough to cut the air itself.
"And you shouldn’t have answered your brother’s call," Jake cackled, his deep voice reverberating like thunder. "Now you’re going to see a real devil in human form."
Without hesitation, he slammed all four elbows downward onto the arm connected to the pincers. The impact sent a violent jolt through Lenny’s body, a sudden, searing pain disorienting him in the split of a second.
But that was only the beginning.
In a blur, Jake was in front of him again. His massive hand clamped over Lenny’s face like an iron vice, leaving no room for escape.
BANG!
With overwhelming force, Jake smashed Lenny’s head straight into the ground. The impact shook the battlefield as the earth caved in instantly, collapsing into a deep crater. Cracks spiderwebbed outward for dozens of metres, dust and debris blasting into the air.
The once-solid ground did not survive the blow.
