Chapter 101: 099 Backdoor Break-in

Jimmy had already obtained the necessary information, and all that was left was to first get to know the environment. He came out of hiding from the corner of the wall, rounded the corner to the outside of the neighbor's house on the side of the building, observing as he walked around the house.

These three gang members were definitely locals, and the building they chose was excellent. The white house in the middle, with a few meters distance to the next houses on both sides, allowed an observation of all possible police entry angles from the rear, by circling from the building on the right to the vast open space behind.

Jimmy had made a full round, and the best entry route was already occupied by a four-man SWAT team, positioned behind the house on the left, targeting an extension—a tool room with a small door at the back of the white house.

The reason they hadn't gone directly was because of the open space in the backyard; if they walked straight across, they would be completely exposed to the angles of fire from the back door and windows.

After completing the round, Jimmy returned to Ned's side. "Agent Ned, SWAT is already in position at the best spot. I need you guys at the front to find a way to draw the attention of the suspects inside, while I try to get closer from the side of the tool room."

Ned thought for a moment. He walked over to Sergeant Ted and they communicated quietly. Ned then turned his head and nodded at Jimmy.

Jimmy went to the back of the building on the left, joining the SWAT personnel. "Hey, bro, they'll draw the attention of those inside soon. Let's all go in from the back together."

Then he positioned himself at the back of the formation.

"Bang" "Bang," the police at the front must have fired something like tear gas. The blasts were very soft. The SWAT members, protected by a bullet-proof shield, began moving toward the tool room behind the house.

Most residential tool rooms are connected internally to the house, and Jimmy observed the inside of the house using his "Heart Eye Observation" while following the team.

For now, he could only see one person at the back door, who was hiding behind a door on the side with a handgun, probably behind a cabinet of some sort. It was possible that directly opening the door wouldn't reveal him, and an ambush could occur. However, with the bullet-proof shield ahead, there shouldn't be a big problem.

Jimmy couldn't warn the SWAT about the cabinet at the entrance, as that would be too startling; as long as they stayed behind the shield, the handgun bullets were essentially no threat, and letting them get a bit shocked was okay.

The second team member swapped his MP5 for a shotgun, fired a breaching round to take out the door lock, and followed it up by kicking the door open.

The lead shield-bearing officer stepped in first, and as his body cleared the doorway, the sound of the handgun inside rang out. The SWAT team returned fire while pulling back, and Jimmy, not having trained with them, was bumped by the last SWAT member and dodged to the side.

The SWAT formation dispersed, with only two people left behind the shield. Their return fire probably missed the suspect, at least from what Jimmy could observe. The suspect was still in the same spot, merely bending over from standing, uninjured and not down.

Jimmy directly went behind the shield, picked up his handgun, and fired two shots through the wooden, non-bulletproof cabinet. The bullets pierced the side of the cabinet and struck the suspect's chest, who then fell forward from behind the cabinet clutching his chest.

Jimmy didn't fire again; based on his "Heart Eye Observation" results, the blood spatter was at the left chest area. Unless there was an anomaly, it should be where the heart was. If he didn't die from that, it would be utterly unreasonable.

The lead SWAT officer with the shield signaled, and the others continued following him further inside. They first went to the body of the suspect to confirm he was no longer a threat, then headed deeper into the house.

Jimmy was still the last, but to avoid the collision that just happened, he kept a distance of nearly 2 meters from the last member of the team, ensuring his safety.

Heart Eye's distance was now sufficient, and the other two suspects had already been located. According to the direction of the SWAT team, the first suspect was right around the corner, which wasn't a big problem. It was necessary to trust these professionals, whose daily training was meant to showcase their skills in such moments.

Jimmy's judgment was correct. The suspect around the corner had managed to fire only two shots before being neutralized. Meanwhile, the third suspect had already hidden behind the living room sofa. The SWAT team was scrutinizing every possible threat point. Jimmy kept his eye on the suspect, and when the suspect stood to shoot, Jimmy fired two shots, one hitting the suspect in the face and the other in the forehead.

After dealing with the three suspects, the house was now clear besides SWAT and Jimmy. SWAT members confirmed the safety over the radio and then the external police gradually emerged from their hiding spots to enter through the front door and clean up the aftermath.

Jimmy found Sergeant Ted Holman and Detective Ned Ryan, opened his revolver's cylinder, dumped out the bullets and casings, and handed the four spent casings to the sergeant; then he reloaded his revolver.

Jimmy, "Sergeant Ted, here are the casings for evidence. I just shot two people. I'll take the gun with me. It's registered with the police department, and the gun number and rifling information are on file. If there's any issue, contact our office."

Jimmy said goodbye to the LRPD personnel, returned to his police car, tuned the radio back to the general channel, and drove back to the police station. He hadn't gone far when another assignment came through from the dispatch center.

"A28, please proceed to the county detention center to assist in the transfer of a group of prisoners."

"A28, received."

Jimmy really wasn't lucky. Just as he was finishing up one case and looking forward to some rest and relaxation, he had to run around again.

The county detention center usually temporarily holds suspects and those who have already been sentenced. Those sentenced to prison are transferred in a batch, rather than being sent one by one immediately after sentencing.

The vehicles used for transporting prisoners to prison resemble those school buses seen in movies, except that the windows are fitted with grilles, and the seats are modified with additional handles and barriers. The driver's area is also protected, mitigating many risks.

Normally, the transfer of prisoners to prison is managed by county police, but it's usually never done by just one officer, making Jimmy an exception.

Jimmy drove his police car to the detention center, signed in with the prison guards outside, and then waited in his car for the inmates to be transferred inside.

After waiting half an hour, everything inside was finally ready. The detention center's police vehicle led the way, followed by the transport bus in the middle with Jimmy's police car following behind, headed for the prison.

The drive went smoothly, and upon arriving at the prison, Jimmy got out of the police car and stood behind the bus, watching as the prison guards from the prison and those from the detention center exchanged the prisoners, checking off names one by one before the guards escorted them into the prison gates.

Only when all were handed over did Jimmy's escort duty conclude. Of course, prison isn't a pleasant place, and the people inside weren't the best; being the only Asian police officer on-site, he endured some verbal taunts from the inmates behind the barriers, but unfortunately, there was no way to go inside and interact with them more personally.
