"What do you want me to do?" Ji Qi felt a pang of sadness at Wei Yumeng's questioning.
Wei Yumeng had been the one clinging to him before, but now she was turning the tables. "Miss Wei, I tried to find you many times before, but you refused to see me, so I had no choice but to resort to this."
Ji Qi's tone turned somewhat sinister, sending a shiver down Wei Yumeng's spine.
She knew in her heart that she had entangled herself with a formidable individual. With her children still in Ji Qi's clutches, she couldn't afford to act rashly.
Wei Yumeng took a deep breath, forcing her voice to calm down. "If it's about that matter, I can apologize. I only hope you can let my children go; they are innocent."
"Of course, I'm willing to let them go. After all, they hold no value for me," Ji Qi said, then his tone shifted. "However, I do have a request. Do you remember the deal I proposed that day? If you are willing to be my woman, I will let them go."
Wei Yumeng gritted her teeth. Was there no other way to resolve this?
Perhaps she should call the police, or find a way to stall Ji Qi and then have Zhan Corporation's security find her children.
"Miss Wei, I know you are smart and have many ways to rescue the children. But I can also tell you that I've planted something special on them. If you don't do as I ask, I am confident that you will never see them again."
Ji Qi's words immediately dashed all of Wei Yumeng's plans. For the safety of her children, she couldn't act impulsively.
But was there truly no other path for her?
Wei Yumeng remained silent, not wanting to be led by the nose by Ji Qi, yet unable to think of a solution.
"Miss Wei, I can give you time to think. But I can't guarantee how long the children can wait for you."
"Alright, I understand," Wei Yumeng conceded. "When should we meet?"
Hearing Wei Yumeng's response, Ji Qi's tone improved significantly. "Tomorrow afternoon. I'll send you the specific address later."
With that, Ji Qi hung up.
Wei Yumeng's heart was still pounding, her thoughts consumed by the safety of her children.
But she also couldn't bear the thought of someone like Ji Qi defiling her. She couldn't even imagine being touched by anyone other than Zhan Mohan.
And with Zhan Mohan still away, she didn't want to disturb his work with this matter.
Finally, she made up her mind. She had to save her children, but after being defiled, she would have no face to return home.
Wei Yumeng looked around the room, every corner filled with memories of her life there.
Though she felt a pang of reluctance, she knew she had to do it.
As if by telepathy, Wei Yumeng's phone rang. Seeing Zhan Mohan's name at this moment made her heart flutter.
By the time Zhan Mohan returned, everything would be over. They would never meet again.
This might be their last phone call.
Thinking this, Wei Yumeng hesitated for a long time before answering.
"Mohan, I..."
The thought of what was about to happen made Wei Yumeng unable to suppress her sadness. Though she fought to control her emotions, her voice betrayed her.
"Yumeng, what's wrong? What happened? Has that Ji Qi bothered you again?"
Zhan Mohan felt a pang of heartache, wanting to rush back to Wei Yumeng's side immediately.
"It's nothing. I just haven't seen you in a while, and hearing your voice suddenly makes me feel... nostalgic."
Zhan Mohan breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry. I thought I could return sooner, but there was an issue with the project, so I have to stay a few more days."
"It's fine," Wei Yumeng said quickly. "Everything is fine here, and the children are all well. Don't worry, focus on your project."
Whether it was her imagination or not, Wei Yumeng's voice wavered slightly when Zhan Mohan mentioned the children.
"I understand," Zhan Mohan's tone softened unconsciously. "If anything happens to you or the children, you must tell me, understand?"
"Yes, of course, I'll tell you. I promise."
They chatted about other things, and everything seemed as usual.
But only Wei Yumeng regarded this as her last conversation with Zhan Mohan. She would forever remember his voice, and everything that had happened between them.
As the call neared its end, Wei Yumeng still felt a reluctance to hang up, dragging out the conversation for over an hour.
However, it was precisely because she loved Zhan Mohan and her children that she had to sacrifice herself for them.
When the appointed time arrived, Wei Yumeng brought her prepared items.
A packet of poison and sleeping pills, and a dagger.
The poison was for herself. The sleeping pills and dagger were for dealing with Ji Qi.
She would never allow Ji Qi to defile her. She would rather be defiled and then go to hell with Ji Qi.
She placed the farewell letter she had prepared on the table before leaving the house.
After a few steps, she couldn't help but look back.
When she arrived at the agreed meeting point, Ji Qi was already there.
He had dressed up specifically for the occasion, looking completely different from his appearance at the banquet.
Compared to his usual eccentric clothing, the suit and tie made him look somewhat peculiar.
Wei Yumeng didn't think he suited such attire. Even dressed so formally, she knew he was no ordinary person.
"How is it? Do you like this outfit? I specifically prepared it to meet you."
Ji Qi said as he motioned for Wei Yumeng to come inside. "I know your husband, Zhan Mohan, likes this kind of clothing, so I thought you might like it too."
So, that was the reason.
Hearing this, Wei Yumeng felt a surge of nausea. Even though Ji Qi had changed his attire, it couldn't change her perception of him.
Nor could it change her purpose for being here.
"I'm here now. Where are the children? Let them go first."
"Don't rush," Ji Qi said, taking Wei Yumeng's hand and leading her to sit on the sofa. "Do you like it here? I've decorated this place specially to welcome our future."
Wei Yumeng then noticed the room's decor. The walls were adorned with various flowers, and romantic candles were lit.
If the protagonist of this endeavor were Zhan Mohan, not Ji Qi, what would the scene be like?
