Wei Yumeng was thrown onto the bed as soon as they returned to the room. Zhan Mohan looked down at her, took off his jacket, and pressed down on her.
Wei Yumeng pushed him, "Zhan Mohan, let me go."
The man gripped her hand. His palm was burning hot, and the temperature startled Wei Yumeng. She looked up instinctively and met his deep, scorching gaze.
His voice was hoarse, laced with restraint.
"Why should I let you go? You hate my touch so much, Wei Yumeng. When other men touch you, why don't you ever react this strongly?"
The other day, Chu Zi'an had affectionately wiped her mouth with a tissue, and they looked like a couple. His presence had seemed so superfluous. Today, they were laughing happily in the hallway. In his memory, she had never smiled like that in front of him.
What was laughable was that he could only see her pure smile through others.
A surge of malice coursed through his chest, especially when he saw her stubborn face. He leaned down and kissed her lips. Wei Yumeng felt enveloped by his presence, her breath filled with his scent.
The more she resisted, the deeper he kissed. Then, she felt a chill all over her body. When she came to her senses, her clothes had been completely stripped away.
The man pressed down on her again. Wei Yumeng bit her lip tightly. He turned his head and kissed her neck. Wei Yumeng felt a sharp sting. What was he doing?
Ultimately, Zhan Mohan did not have his way with her. He wasn't in the mood today. The image of her and Chu Zi'an flashed in his mind, making him more agitated.
When Wei Yumeng saw Zhan Mohan get up and enter the bathroom, she was slightly taken aback. He actually didn't... today.
If it were usual, he would have undoubtedly taken her.
But it was better this way, at least it spared her some grievance. It wasn't that she feared what Zhan Mohan would do to her, but that every time he was close to the climax, he would make her call his name repeatedly, as if to assert his claim. This made her very uncomfortable.
Afterward, he would always say some sarcastic words to hurt her further. Those words, to her, were like knives piercing her heart.
She wished she had no feelings for Zhan Mohan at all. That way, perhaps her emotions wouldn't be stirred by his words.
When Zhan Mohan came out, Wei Yumeng had already put on her clothes and was sitting on the edge of the bed, lost in thought.
But in his eyes, this was her dissatisfaction with his touch and her resistance.
He walked over, still wiping his hair with a towel, his voice cold and sarcastic.
"What, you're so unwilling to be touched by your own husband?"
"No, you can do whatever you want. Do I still have the right to refuse?"
When had Zhan Mohan ever cared about her feelings or her thoughts? He had always been solitary.
"I just want you to remember that you are my wife, Zhan Mohan's wife, the young madam of the Zhan family. Don't think about attracting attention everywhere you go. Our Zhan family cannot afford to lose face like that."
Seeing her dejected mood, Zhan Mohan also felt agitated. He had already restrained himself, considering it letting her off the hook. Who was she putting on a sullen face for?
She smiled brightly at other men, but at him, she was like a resentful woman in her chambers. He didn't know how many times she had mentally rehearsed leaving him.
He clenched his fists tightly, his face casting a frosty shadow. He would never allow Wei Yumeng to leave his side again. She would be his wife, Zhan Mohan's wife, for his entire life.
Wei Yumeng felt the man's aura beside her erupt suddenly. She couldn't help but shiver and dared not argue with him further.
He had already let her off the hook; provoking him again would only be asking for trouble.
She then got up, "I'm going to take a shower."
Zhan Mohan didn't stop her, letting her go. He had his own matters to attend to.
Even while showering, Wei Yumeng was distracted, not noticing the marks on her neck. When she came out of the bathroom, Zhan Mohan was no longer in the room. It was empty and silent again.
She lay on the bed, pulling the covers over her. The quilt still carried his scent. She couldn't describe it, but it was comforting to smell.
How wonderful it would be if they could live like a normal couple, instead of constantly clashing like they did now. Perhaps thinking about it made her tired, and Wei Yumeng drifted off into a daze.
The next day, she woke up at half-past eight and realized she was about to be late. She left without even eating breakfast.
Zhan Mohan might have gone out last night, as his side of the bed was cold, and she didn't see him in the morning.
What was the point of thinking about him all day? The more she thought, the more somber she felt.
Rushing to the company, she quickly swiped her card. Fortunately, she was only a minute away from being docked pay.
After clocking in, she breathed a sigh of relief. Just as she was about to return to her office, Mu Linjing rushed over.
"Yumeng, Yumeng, did President Zhan personally take you home last night?"
Wei Yumeng knew she would ask this.
She felt a mix of amusement and a desire to cry. She playfully tapped Mu Linjing's head.
"Mu Linjing, who was it that was tightly holding my hand last night, crying with a long face and asking what to do? Have you forgotten the pain so quickly?"
"No, I was just casually asking." Mu Linjing said, then her curiosity piqued again. "Come on, tell me, are you going to keep it from me too?"
"President Zhan just talked to me about some work matters. You probably don't know about the rumors between me and Chu Zi'an yet. President Zhan was afraid it would affect the company, so he spoke to me privately."
Wei Yumeng could only say this for now. Otherwise, with Mu Linjing's curiosity, she would undoubtedly pry for more information.
Mu Linjing knew about the incident with Chu Zi'an that had spread on the company's intranet. However, she didn't think it was anything strange. It was normal for single men and women to be attracted to each other. Besides, they hadn't done anything inappropriate.
Although Chu Zi'an was handsome, he couldn't compare to President Zhan.
"Really? But why would President Zhan go to the matchmaking event?"
"Alright, why are you thinking so much? Perhaps President Zhan also wanted to have some fun. If he hadn't come, we would have had a hard time escaping yesterday."
"That's true." Mu Linjing thought about it and felt it made sense.
"Let's go to work." Wei Yumeng patted her shoulder, and they walked towards the office together.
As soon as she sat down, a colleague came over.
"Wei Yumeng, what's going on with you and Chu Zi'an? Are you two dating? You look quite compatible. If you're together, remember to treat us colleagues to a meal!"
"I'm not dating him. Yesterday, he just came to get some documents from me."
Wei Yumeng had already explained this to them countless times, but they seemed to have taken none of it to heart.
Zhu Li, with sharp eyes, spotted the mark on Wei Yumeng's neck. It was a deep color, clearly from yesterday. A sinister smile flashed in her eyes.
"Wei Yumeng, everyone is so concerned about you, why not tell us? Look at the mark on your neck, it's clearly left by a man."
When Zhu Li said this, everyone looked towards Wei Yumeng.
"It really is..."
"Do you think they might have... progressed last night?"
"Chu Zi'an is too bold! He actually dared to leave hickeys on someone's neck. Is he ignoring President Zhan's words?"
"President Zhan only prohibits office employees from dating within the company to protect its reputation. What people do after work, where they go, is their own business."
"That's true."
Hearing their discussion, Wei Yumeng recalled the stinging sensation on her neck yesterday. Could it be that Zhan Mohan...?
She quickly got up, pushed through the crowd, and ran to the restroom. Standing in front of the mirror, she pushed aside her hair and found a distinct mark left by a man's bite.
No wonder those people just now thought she had something going on with Chu Zi'an.
Was this man crazy? She had been relieved yesterday that he hadn't touched her, but now, she would have preferred him to touch her than for this to happen.
Now, these people were even more convinced that something had happened between her and Chu Zi'an.
Zhan Mohan wasn't trying to annoy Chu Zi'an; he was annoying himself.
She tried to use a colleague's compact powder, which she borrowed while she was reapplying makeup, to cover it. It only helped a little, but there was nothing she could do. This mark would likely take a couple of days to fade.
After she left the restroom, she received a call from Chu Zi'an. Her mood was already quite irritable, and she didn't want to answer.
But Chu Zi'an seemed very patient, calling repeatedly. She had no choice but to answer.
"Is something wrong?"
"You sound unhappy. I've finished with the documents. Do you want to come pick them up, or should I bring them to you?"
The documents were unique within the company and had to be returned. She didn't want to see Chu Zi'an again, as it would only fuel more rumors if others saw them together.
She hesitated for a moment, then spoke again.
"Wait for me at the back door of the company."
