Chapter 237 What Did You Do Last Night!

That night, Wei Yumeng stayed by Zhan Mohan's bedside, watching his IV drip until he finished. She dozed off briefly, her sleep restless, punctuated by sudden awakenings. Eventually, she fell into a deep, sound sleep.

The next day, a nurse came to check on the patient. As soon as she opened the door, she quickly averted her gaze.

"Room check... room check."

Wei Yumeng was startled awake. As her eyes slowly fluttered open, the first thing she saw was Zhan Mohan's handsome face. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she shot up from the bed.

"I... how did I end up in your bed?"

Zhan Mohan looked at her with a smile in his eyes, leisurely observing her. "Yes, how did you end up in my bed?"

Wei Yumeng then noticed the nurse still waiting by the door. She quickly pulled back the blanket and got off the bed, her movements flustered. She adjusted her hair awkwardly.

"Nurse, I'm sorry. You can proceed with the check-up now."

The young nurse, who looked to be around twenty and probably not in a relationship, had seen the patient and a family member lying in the same bed. It was understandable that she would be startled. Her face flushed slightly as she took the thermometer and handed it to Zhan Mohan.

After taking his temperature, Zhan Mohan glanced at the reading. "No fever."

The nurse retrieved the thermometer and, before leaving, reminded Wei Yumeng, "The patient's wound has just been stitched. It cannot be subjected to any pressure, so your family should also be mindful of this."

The latter part of the nurse's statement carried a subtle implication, which Wei Yumeng understood. She felt embarrassed, not even knowing how she had ended up in Zhan Mohan's bed. She nodded slightly. "My apologies."

The nurse then left with the thermometer.

Wei Yumeng turned back to Zhan Mohan and asked, "How did I end up in your bed?"

Zhan Mohan appeared equally clueless. "How you ended up in my bed, shouldn't you be asking yourself?"

"I don't sleepwalk. Don't try to fool me." How could she have possibly gotten into Zhan Mohan's sickbed on her own?

Zhan Mohan maintained his stance. "It couldn't have been me who carried you over, right?"

Wei Yumeng thought this was also unlikely. Zhan Mohan was injured, his wound only recently stitched. If he had carried her, it would surely have reopened. However, she couldn't entirely rule it out; he was capable of doing anything.

Her eyes filled with doubt, and she said to Zhan Mohan, "Let me see your wound."

Zhan Mohan frowned. "Wei Yumeng, do you have some kind of thoughts about my body?"

"What thoughts could I have about you? I just want to see if your wound has reopened."

She was becoming more convinced that she hadn't climbed into Zhan Mohan's bed herself. When she woke up, Zhan Mohan was already awake, and he hadn't seemed surprised to see her. This meant he was definitely involved. Since she found out she was pregnant, her weight had been increasing. Without his injury, he could have easily carried her. But now, with the injury, any exertion on his part would surely affect the wound. The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became. Regardless of what happened, she was determined to see his wound today.

Zhan Mohan stubbornly refused. "What's there to see? Be careful, you might have nightmares later."

"I'm not afraid."

Wei Yumeng reached out and turned Zhan Mohan over. The man tried to stop her, but he was afraid of pushing her down too forcefully.

When Wei Yumeng saw the blood seeping through his clothes on his back, she froze. The air in the room seemed to instantly solidify.

Zhan Mohan felt uncharacteristically uncomfortable under her gaze and pulled the blanket up. "Perhaps I moved a bit this morning, and then..."

"Zhan Mohan, are you trying to end your life? Couldn't I have slept anywhere else? Why did you have to carry me?"

She didn't know why, but upon seeing his wound bleeding, a surge of anger welled up inside her. She spoke her mind without regard for how formidable the man in front of her was.

Zhan Mohan was somewhat taken aback by Wei Yumeng's outburst. It was the first time he had ever been yelled at, especially by a woman...

She bent down and pushed his hands away. "Let me see again quickly."

Blood continued to seep out, and Wei Yumeng's eyes turned red. "We need to get a doctor to look at this. You lie here and don't move."

After she said this, she turned to call the doctor. Zhan Mohan's eyes narrowed, and ignoring his wound, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.

Panic flickered in Wei Yumeng's eyes. Seeing his complex expression, she became confused. "What is it now?"

"Wei Yumeng, you're very worried about me, aren't you?"

Without even thinking, she replied, "You're bleeding, of course I'm worried. What if the wound reopens? It'll have to be stitched again." The mere thought sent a chill down her spine. That would hurt so much.

Zhan Mohan didn't seem to care about the physical pain; he cared more about her feelings. "I'm not asking about that. I'm asking if you're worried about me, concerned about me, afraid something will happen to me, right?" He wasn't asking about a simple worry, but the kind of worry one feels when they like someone.

Wei Yumeng's heart pounded under his gaze, and she found herself unable to answer. Her eyes darted away, and she lowered her head slightly. "Your wound needs immediate medical attention. I'll go now."

She tried to pull her hand away, but Zhan Mohan showed no intention of letting go.

The door to the room was suddenly pushed open from the outside, accompanied by a cheerful female voice. "A Han, I brought you your favorite..."

Jiang Siyu entered and saw the scene: Zhan Mohan holding Wei Yumeng's hand, Wei Yumeng's cheeks flushed, and her collar buttons still undone. Her expression immediately changed. "What are you two doing!"

Jiang Siyu quickly stepped forward and forcefully separated them. She glared at Wei Yumeng. "Miss Wei, you were asked to take care of A Han here because you were the one who injured him. It's your responsibility to bear. But no one asked you to try and seduce him in his hospital room!"

"Siyu!" Zhan Mohan reprimanded, frowning.

Wei Yumeng glanced sideways at Jiang Siyu, her gaze unwavering, meeting Jiang Siyu's directly. "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean by 'seduce.' I'd appreciate it if you could provide evidence. If you can't, I have the right to sue you for defamation, Miss Jiang!" She emphasized the last three words with particular force.

Jiang Siyu clasped Wei Yumeng's wrist, her eyes like a raging storm, attacking fiercely. "Does this need evidence? I saw it myself. Don't think I don't know what you're plotting. You destroyed your marriage with A Han with your own hands, and now you're pretending to be innocent."

Wei Yumeng shook off Jiang Siyu's hand, her eyes narrowed, but her demeanor was no less imposing than Jiang Siyu's. "My destroying my own marriage has nothing to do with you. It's not as bad as you abandoning Zhan Mohan and going abroad alone when he was paralyzed. Now that he's recovered, you come back to him. How are you any better?" She knew her own marriage with Zhan Mohan clearly, and she didn't need anyone to point fingers. She used to not understand that sometimes, retreating when others bully you doesn't make them stop. Some people, when they see you back down, think you're afraid and only become more aggressive.

Jiang Siyu hadn't expected Wei Yumeng to talk back. Coupled with the thought that they had spent the night under the same roof, she was furious. She turned to look pleadingly at Zhan Mohan, only then noticing his pale face and the large bloodstain soaking his bed. She gasped. "A Han, your wound has split open!"

Zhan Mohan couldn't stand Jiang Siyu's loud shouting; it was giving him a headache. "Go call the doctor."

Wei Yumeng suddenly remembered that she was supposed to be calling the doctor. If Jiang Siyu hadn't interrupted, she would have already brought a doctor over. "I'll go now."

"Wait a moment!" Jiang Siyu suddenly seemed to realize something. She looked at Wei Yumeng with a stern face. "Did you cause A Han's wound to split open?"
