Chapter 302: Chapter 302: The Truth Behind Xixi Being Sold
"Beg me?"
Yan Xinxin looked at her, her starry eyes filled with doubt.
"Lady Mu, you’re a top-tier actress with fame, wealth, and social status in abundance. What could you possibly need from someone as ordinary as me?"
"No matter how brilliant someone’s life may seem, everyone has their weaknesses. And Xixi... she’s mine."
Mu Qianshui spoke, her beautiful almond-shaped eyes already brimming with tears.
"Especially when it comes to being a parent."
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she finished her sentence.
Yan Xinxin hadn’t intended to concern herself with Mu Qianshui’s words, but this one sentence struck a chord with her.
"Lady Yan, you’re a mother too. How would you feel if you could never see your son again from this moment forward?"
"If you want to see Xixi, Lady Mu, just say so. There’s no need to use my son as an analogy."
Yan Xinxin spoke coldly, opening the door.
"If you truly cared so much about Xixi, Lady Mu, you wouldn’t have abandoned her at the orphanage the very day she was born."
"Lady Yan, you’re not me. How could you possibly understand my struggles?"
Mu Qianshui sighed, as if in resignation.
Yan Xinxin gave her a detached glance, her lips parting slightly.
"No struggle could ever justify a mother abandoning her own child."
"..."
Mu Qianshui found herself momentarily speechless after Yan Xinxin’s comment.
Though clearly annoyed, her impeccable acting skills didn’t betray even a hint of displeasure.
"Lady Yan, I realize you have issues with me. But today, I’m simply here to visit Xixi. I have no intention of arguing with you."
"Lady Mu, it seems to me you’re always the one causing trouble for me."
Yan Xinxin curved her lips into a faint, meaningful smile as she regarded Mu Qianshui.
"Your timing is impeccable. Mo Chuxi just left, and here you are. I won’t keep you from seeing Xixi. I need to go prepare dinner."
As Yan Xinxin turned and walked away, leaving Mu Qianshui with no verbal victory, a sinister glint finally flashed in Mu Qianshui’s eyes.
She glanced around briefly before heading toward the sound of children’s laughter.
Just as she turned, her phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, she stepped onto the balcony before answering.
"So? Did you find anything?"
"In today’s world, as long as you have money, anything can be done!"
Mira’s smug voice came through from the other end.
"But honey, the results I found might shock you as much as they shocked me."
"Hurry up and tell me!"
Mu Qianshui pressed impatiently.
"Did you find out who Xixi’s biological mother is?"
"A worker from over there provided me with some information. I traced the couple who abandoned Xixi at the orphanage back then—they live in the western suburbs."
Mira reported.
"At first, they denied everything, but after I offered them some money, they finally revealed the truth. It turns out, back then, they bought Xixi from someone else."
"What? Bought her?"
Mu Qianshui’s brows furrowed in genuine surprise.
"Exactly. But they hadn’t anticipated that Xixi was born with a heart condition. They wanted to return her, but the woman who sold Xixi refused to acknowledge the transaction. Because trafficking children is illegal, they had no way to take legal action, so they had no choice but to leave the baby at the orphanage."
"That woman has a death wish, doesn’t she? Daring to sell Chuxi’s daughter!"
Mu Qianshui was genuinely stunned.
"Honey, don’t be so quick to gasp—things get even juicier!"
Mira teased, clearly enjoying the suspense she was creating.
"Based on the lead that couple provided, I found the woman who sold Xixi. Her name is Ye Lirong."
"Ye Lirong? What an outdated name."
"Her name isn’t the point. The point is, she has two daughters. One is named Yan Zhirou, and the other... is named Yan Xinxin."
