Chapter 20 Saving a Life at the Risk of One's Own

As soon as Yan Jiaojiao opened her eyes, she met the eyes of the great zombie, and screamed in fear, "That's a zombie that can cultivate!"

Dongfang Cangwu was so annoyed that he wished he could strangle Yan Jiaojiao.

"I want you to control the dream to escape, not to imagine more terrifying things!"

Yan Jiaojiao wailed with a mournful face, "I'm scared. I can't help but worry that the great zombie will appear."

Dongfang Cangwu pressed his temples.

In the dream, Yan Jiaojiao's personality was completely unleashed. In reality, she still had some dignity, but in her heart, she was actually such a little girl.

She really cried out and cried whenever she felt like it.

"Roar!"

The great zombie let out another howl. The sound wave carried a powerful spiritual energy, striking in a straight line. It not only blasted open the iron gate but also turned the ordinary zombies in front of the gate into pieces.

Then, the great zombie walked over step by step, treading on the foul-smelling, rotten blood.

Yan Jiaojiao was so scared that she stood frozen, not knowing what to do.

Seeing the great zombie quicken its pace and then charge forward, Dongfang Cangwu immediately pulled Yan Jiaojiao back.

"Stop daydreaming, quickly make him disappear!"

Dongfang Cangwu's voice was still cold.

Yan Jiaojiao snapped back to reality. As she ran, she tried her best to think.

But her movements were beyond her control. She couldn't help but look back at the great zombie. The moment she saw its ravenous, greedy zombified face, only fear remained in Yan Jiaojiao's heart, and she couldn't think of anything else.

They had reached the wall ahead, and the distance between them and the great zombie was getting closer.

Dongfang Cangwu stopped abruptly, just before the wall, and pulled Yan Jiaojiao behind him, "Quick!"

Yan Jiaojiao didn't expect Dongfang Cangwu to protect her, and a sense of security suddenly arose in her heart, greatly reducing her fear.

The great zombie leaped forward, its fangs sharp, its stench overwhelming!

Dongfang Cangwu mobilized all the spiritual energy he could use. He raised his left hand, condensing it into a ball, and flung it forcefully, hitting the great zombie squarely in the face!

With a "bang," the spiritual energy ball exploded on the great zombie's head, emitting a blinding white light.

Dongfang Cangwu's heart tightened, and he immediately dragged Yan Jiaojiao to dodge aside.

As expected, the light disappeared the next second, and the spiritual energy shield that automatically appeared in front of the great zombie also vanished.

Dongfang Cangwu's best attack had dealt no damage at all!

Red Level Three, it was indeed still too weak.

Fortunately, the great zombie couldn't stop after being hit and crashed directly into the high wall, its entire body sinking into it.

Dongfang Cangwu and Yan Jiaojiao narrowly escaped and didn't dare to pause, immediately running to the side.

Yan Jiaojiao, while running, said with a crying voice, "I thought about making him disappear, why is he still here!"

"Focus."

Yan Jiaojiao felt like crying but couldn't. How could she focus in such a life-or-death situation?

"Roar!"

The great zombie struggled out of the wall, its howl filled with rage, and charged at them even more ferociously.

Dongfang Cangwu retreated, gritting his teeth. He couldn't use any more spiritual energy. He could only pick up a flying steel bar and thrust it fiercely into the great zombie's eye as it lunged, splashing a spray of foul blood.

"Ah!" Yan Jiaojiao cried out again behind him.

"Shut up!" Dongfang Cangwu said.

The great zombie felt no pain. Injury would only make it more enraged. It paused in place, its rotten flesh beginning to swell inch by inch.

Seeing that it was about to go berserk, Dongfang Cangwu resigned himself to fate. He pushed Yan Jiaojiao further back, "You go quickly, I'll cover the rear."

"How will you cover the rear? I see you've already exhausted all your spiritual energy." Yan Jiaojiao was unwilling to leave.

"I'll cover the rear with myself." Dongfang Cangwu glanced back at her, his eyes cold.

Yan Jiaojiao understood. Dongfang Cangwu was preparing to let the great zombie eat him to buy her time to escape.

"Why are you saving me?" Yan Jiaojiao looked at Dongfang Cangwu. No one had ever protected her like this.

It's not like if you die, I might be buried with you...

Dongfang Cangwu thought, but didn't say it aloud, his gaze becoming even colder, "If you have any conscience, you should quickly focus and make him disappear."

As he spoke, the great zombie had completed its berserker transformation, its body growing larger by another circle. Its one uninjured eye stared fiercely at Dongfang Cangwu, and in almost the blink of an eye, it had appeared in front of him.

Dongfang Cangwu was stunned, and the shadow above him descended...

"No!"

Yan Jiaojiao closed her eyes and screamed loudly.

The surroundings suddenly fell silent, and the stench of zombies was gone.

"Drip."

A drop of water fell to the ground.

Yan Jiaojiao dared not open her eyes, fearing she would witness Dongfang Cangwu's tragic death.

"What place have you dreamed of again?"

Dongfang Cangwu's cold voice, however, sounded beside her.

Yan Jiaojiao suddenly opened her eyes and saw Dongfang Cangwu standing unharmed before her. The zombies from before had all disappeared.

"Great!" Yan Jiaojiao cheered and involuntarily hugged Dongfang Cangwu, "I'm so glad you're alright."

The soft body in her embrace carried the unique fragrance of a young girl. Dongfang Cangwu was caught off guard by this embrace and froze in place.

This damned woman, she had taken advantage of this seat again!

However, this time, Dongfang Cangwu suddenly felt that it wasn't as annoying.

"You can let go now," Dongfang Cangwu reminded her, his voice still a little stiff.

Yan Jiaojiao finally came back to her senses, released Dongfang Cangwu, and smiled sheepishly, "I'm so happy you're alright. It turns out you were right, I really can control dreams."

"Mm."

Yan Jiaojiao's eyes seemed too bright, and Dongfang Cangwu couldn't look directly at them, turning his gaze elsewhere.

This was a spacious cave, with jagged rocks and a deep, dark surrounding. Seven or eight unfathomable cave entrances extended outwards. Only the top had an open entrance, through which a sliver of light shone down.

"Can we go out from there?"

Dongfang Cangwu's gaze fell on a cave entrance to the east, where there seemed to be a faint breeze.

"No, you can't." Yan Jiaojiao answered as a matter of course, then, strangely, said, "Huh? How do I know we can't go out from there?"

Dongfang Cangwu was speechless.

Yan Jiaojiao covered her mouth, "Oh, I forgot. This is my dream. If I say we can't go out, does that mean we absolutely cannot go out from there?"

Wasn't this obvious?

Dongfang Cangwu gave her a look, letting her figure it out herself.

"I'm sorry," Yan Jiaojiao said sheepishly and sat back down dispiritedly.

Wouldn't she fall if she just sat down like that? Dongfang Cangwu was about to remind Yan Jiaojiao when he saw that as soon as Yan Jiaojiao sat down, a stone stool emerged from that spot. She then placed her hand down, and a stone table appeared.

By the time Dongfang Cangwu looked around again, he found that the cave had changed greatly.
