Chapter 326 The Master of Star Palace Also Fears the Morgue?

Qin Beiting frowned. "What are you doing going to the basement?"

As far as he knew, the basement of the hospital was the morgue.

Yu He replied, "To take a look."

"What's there to see in the morgue? Don't go." Qin Beiting took her hand, preventing her from going downstairs.

Yu He looked at him with surprise, suddenly realizing something. She narrowed her eyes and examined his expression, as if discovering some hidden secret. "Are you scared?"

Qin Beiting let out a disdainful cold laugh. "Heh, they're all corpses. What's there to be afraid of?"

He remembered that when he was on the front lines before, he had encountered plenty of corpses.

Yu He grinned maliciously. "Then why aren't you letting me go? Hmm?"

"There are a lot of bacteria there, it's filthy," Qin Beiting said with disgust.

Tsk, this germaphobia.

Yu He pulled her hand back. "Then wait for me here. I'll be back soon."

Qin Beiting refused. "No! I can't rest assured with you going alone."

"..."

What was there to not be assured about?

Yu He was speechless, feeling that this man's protectiveness towards her was becoming increasingly exaggerated.

"Then let's go."

Seeing that he couldn't stop her, Qin Beiting asked again, "Why do you have to go?"

"To find someone."

"Aren't they all dead?"

"That's not necessarily true."

Qin Beiting stopped in his tracks. "..."

"What?" Yu He looked back at him, her face practically screaming, "Aren't you not scared?"

Qin Beiting coughed awkwardly. "Wait."

Then he turned around and asked the nurse for two medical surgical masks and sterile gloves, almost asking for a hazmat suit. Yu He quickly stopped him; it wasn't like they were staying there overnight.

They took the stairs down to the basement. A dozing old man guarded the entrance, undisturbed by their footsteps.

"Hello," Yu He said, walking up to him and tapping on the table. The old man startled awake, opened his eyes, and seeing that they weren't medical staff, waved them away. "Go out, go out. This is not a place for living people."

"Dr. Liu Yong asked me to look for the corpse that was just brought in, Qin Jincheng." Yu He said.

"What doctor?" the old man asked loudly, cupping his ear.

Yu He: "..."

He's hard of hearing too.

"Dr. Liu Yong!" Yu He raised her voice.

"Oh, oh." The old man responded, put on his reading glasses, and prepared to flip through his ledger. He then asked, "Looking for what?"

Yu He: "..."

She really wanted to give him two injections to cure his hearing loss.

"Ahhh—" Suddenly, a miserable scream came from the morgue, followed by the sound of something being pushed over with a "bang."

The noise was so loud that even the hard-of-hearing old man heard it.

"What the hell! Dare to cause trouble on my turf!" he roared, picking up a baseball bat from behind the desk and barging into the room to investigate.

"..."

"..."

The old man is still the boss.

But if it really was a ghost, a baseball bat wouldn't do much...

Yu He followed behind the old man while he was investigating the situation.

The morgue was very cold. In the long, dim corridor, only the footsteps of three people could be heard.

"Knock, knock, knock," a series of urgent knocks echoed abruptly in the corridor. Qin Beiting, following behind Yu He, immediately grabbed her hand.

Yu He stopped and looked back. "Really scared?"

"No!" Qin Beiting denied immediately.

They were all dead people. What was there to be afraid of? He had seen them before!

Yu He looked down at the hand gripping her arm. "..."

She couldn't believe that the famous Lord of Xingque Hall would be afraid of the morgue.

"I'm afraid you're scared," Qin Beiting explained.

"..."

Yu He smiled helplessly, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him on the cheek.

Qin Beiting's eyes lit up, his throat bobbed. But they were both wearing masks, making it an unsatisfying touch.

"Still scared?"

"Scared!"

"..."

Yu He suspected he was doing it on purpose!

The iron door was being banged on loudly, accompanied by a boy's terrified cries: "Is anyone there? Let me out! Wuwuwu~"

"Good boy, are you not quite dead yet?" The old man walked to the end of the corridor and opened the morgue door with a key.

As soon as the door opened, a boy in a hospital gown ran out as if he had seen a ghost.

It was none other than Qin Jincheng.

His face and lips were pale from fright, looking like he had truly seen a ghost.

Qin Beiting saw that it was him and frowned slightly. He wondered if this was the person the young lady wanted to find. What were they up to?

Then, seeing Qin Jincheng about to pounce on Yu He, he quickly pulled Yu He behind him.

"Little Uncle-Grandpa~"

Qin Jincheng threw his arms around Qin Beiting in a fierce hug. Before he could even cry, Qin Beiting unceremoniously pushed him off.

However, Qin Jincheng wasn't angry at all. Seeing Qin Beiting gave him a sense of closeness he had never felt before. Of course, as long as it wasn't a corpse and it was a living person, he felt close to everyone.

Imagine waking up to find yourself in a morgue, surrounded by corpses. Wouldn't that be horrifying?

"You woke up so quickly," Yu He said, seeing that he could still wail, indicating that there were no major issues.

There was one thing Ms. Huang hadn't lied about: Yu He did indeed have the ability to bring people back from the dead.

Of course, it was also thanks to the timely rescue that Qin Jincheng hadn't completely kicked the bucket.

It was just that after rescuing him, Yu He had an idea and had the doctors and nurses act out the scene for her.

Ms. Huang's birthday was approaching, and she wanted to prepare a surprise for her.

"You saved me?" Qin Jincheng got up from the ground and looked at Yu He with teary eyes.

For a moment, he felt that fate was incredible. The person who had tried to kill him just a few hours ago had saved him.

Qin Beiting also turned his gaze to Yu He. "What's going on?"

"Let's talk somewhere else," Yu He said.

The three of them bid farewell to the old man, and Qin Beiting took them to a restaurant with better privacy.

In the private room, Yu He ordered some desserts and coffee.

"Tell me everything, starting from when you and Ms. Huang planned to replace Qin Xinhong's prenatal medicine. Confess everything," Yu He said.

Qin Jincheng was startled. He first glanced warily at Qin Beiting, who was sitting next to Yu He, and then whispered to Yu He, "How did you know it was us?"

Yu He leisurely took a sip of coffee. "I brought you back from the underworld because I wanted to hear what I wanted to hear from you."

In other words, don't waste my time.

Qin Jincheng pursed his lips, seemingly unwilling to tell the truth.

"Let me remind you, 'Qin Jincheng' is already a dead man who committed suicide to evade punishment. Whether you want to continue living or report back to the underworld, that's up to you. I'll give you the time it takes to drink this cup of coffee," Yu He said, tapping her fingers on the table.

Qin Jincheng wasn't stupid. He understood her meaning: You're already dead anyway. If I kill you now, no one will know.

He couldn't believe he had just been feeling grateful for her saving him!

This woman was simply a devil!

No, she was more terrifying than a devil!

Having experienced it before, he knew that Yu He kept her word.

He couldn't escape!

If he died, the Qin family would cancel his ID. Without an ID, he would be an unregistered resident, unable to move an inch in this modern information age.

And if he went back to the Qin family for help, he wouldn't be able to escape the charges of replacing Qin Xinhong's prenatal medicine and framing the Qin family's heir, nor would he be able to escape Ms. Huang's deadly grasp!

He recalled the scene in the bathroom where Ms. Huang had grabbed his neck and forced him into the sink. A shiver ran down his spine, and he finally chose to tell the truth.
