Chapter 333 Had She Lost Her Memory Before?

"The crime scene. Someone could have been hiding in this cabinet. But the police deleted the eyewitness information when the case was being finalized."

Qin Xinyao looked at Yu He and said, "Do you remember playing hide-and-seek with us in Ya Garden on the night of the incident?"

Yu He tried hard to recall. Hide-and-seek was something she played often when she was little, but she had no memory of the night of the incident at all!

She only vaguely remembered that when her adoptive father was arrested, she had a high fever and felt terribly unwell.

The fever lingered on and off for a week, and she couldn't remember many things.

"It was me, you, and little uncle, the three of us," Qin Xinyao recalled the scene from back then. "It was your and little uncle's turn to hide, and I was looking.

"But halfway through, Aunt Yao called me back. When I returned, the hall of Ya Garden was occupied by my father and his people, and I was told to play elsewhere. I thought you had both left then, so I left too."

He then pointed to the small clip in the photo.

"This clip belongs to you. You hid here at the time. The shifted table leg and the marks on the cabinet door look like they were left during a struggle." He zoomed in on the handle groove of the cabinet door.

The cabinet was made of pear wood. The design for opening the door was a recessed groove. When magnified, the photo showed fine scratches on it, like a child's fingernails digging in forcefully.

"So, do you remember where you were and what you were doing at the time of the incident?" Qin Xinyao asked.

Yu He's head hurt from trying to recall. Several images flashed in her mind: a blood-stained knife tip, the victim's contorted face, a gloomy little boy holding a knife, a dark, small room...

She had some impression of this set of images. They were scenes that had appeared in her mind when Qin Beiting took her to adapt to darkness during a previous outing.

At that time, she tried hard to adapt to the darkness but still couldn't fully accept it, so she hadn't tried again later.

When Yu He tried to recall further, her brain felt like it was about to explode. She couldn't remember anything else besides those few images.

Had she experienced amnesia?

"Are you alright?" Qin Xinyao asked, seeing her clutch her head and look in pain.

Yu He snapped back to reality and shook her head, "I don't remember."

Qin Xinyao frowned, his expression pained. This wasn't what he had expected.

He had always thought that Yu He knew who the murderer was...

"My memory of what happened then is a complete blank," Yu He said truthfully.

Seeing that she seemed distressed, Qin Xinyao was caught off guard. "You, you don't rush. Take your time to recall. Or maybe we should stop for today and come back next time."

Yu He glanced at the time, understanding his intention. She couldn't spend too much time here, lest Qin Yonghui become suspicious.

"Okay," she agreed with him. "Can you give me a copy of the photos? I promise not to leak them."

Qin Xinyao hesitated.

"I will definitely help you find the killer," Yu He added.

Qin Xinyao looked at her for a long time before finally agreeing.

"Thank you." Yu He copied the photos to her USB drive and returned the phone to him.

Qin Xinyao carefully put the phone back into a bag, then into the inner insulation of the thermos, and then put the thermos back. He took off his shoes and lay down on the hospital bed.

"Just give me a few acupuncture treatments."

She had to see the act through to the end.

Yu He cooperated with him. She went over, took his right hand, felt his pulse, and then spread out her acupuncture kit, performing a set of needles to regulate his liver fire and spleen and stomach.

Outside the examination room.

Qin Beiting changed his clothes and came out of the west wing.

Qin Yonghui saw Qin Beiting and looked surprised. She came out of the waiting room and asked, "Seventh brother? What are you doing here?"

It was working hours, shouldn't he be at the company?

"Do I need to report to you where I'm going?" Qin Beiting glanced at her coldly.

He was always so cold and hostile towards the Qin family, but Qin Yonghui was used to it. She said calmly, "I didn't mean it like that."

Qin Beiting ignored her, looked around, and didn't see Yu He. He asked Qiao Wei, who was standing nearby, "Where is she?"

Qiao Wei was stunned for a moment before reacting to his question about Yu He. "Yu He is in the examination room treating Qin Xinyao."

Qin Beiting turned and walked to the door of the examination room. His hand fell on the doorknob, but he found that the door was locked.

A flicker of displeasure crossed his eyes.

Normally, the examination room door would be closed when a patient was being treated, but it wouldn't be locked.

Qin Yonghui thought he was going to barge in. Afraid of disturbing Yu He while she was treating Qin Xinyao, she quickly stepped forward to stop him. "Seventh brother, Miss Yu is treating Yao'er. Don't disturb her."

As she spoke, her eyes turned red. "Yao'er has been ill for so long. It's finally a doctor who can treat him. I hope he can recover his intelligence soon and be able to take care of himself. Otherwise, I won't be able to rest easy even when I'm in the ground."

"Crocodile tears, feigning kindness," Qin Beiting sneered.

Qin Yonghui's driver, who was waiting nearby, couldn't help but think to himself: Feigning kindness?

Everyone in the Qin family knew that the second aunt was truly good to the third young master.

The second aunt had a benevolent heart and treated the third young master as if he were her own son, raising him by her side. She hadn't even cared this much about her own daughter.

However, Qin Yonghui's eyes flickered at his words.

She lowered her gaze, twirled her prayer beads, and mumbled scriptures in a low voice. She seemed indifferent, but no one knew what she was thinking.

Inside the examination room.

Yu He adjusted her emotions and opened the examination room door. She saw a tall figure blocking the doorway. His face, universally despised, was cold, and he exuded an aura of aloofness.

It was none other than Qin Beiting.

There were no more patients in the hall. Qin Yonghui and her driver stood to one side, and Qiao Wei stood to the other.

From Qiao Wei's indescribable expression, Yu He could tell that Qin Beiting had been standing there for quite a while.

"..."

Seeing the door open, Qin Beiting's sharp gaze swept over Yu He from head to toe, ensuring she was unharmed, before turning to the person in the examination room.

Qin Xinyao was sitting on the edge of the hospital bed putting on his shoes. He felt the icy gaze on him, and his hand trembled. The shoe he was holding dropped to the floor. He then picked up the left shoe and tried to put it on his right foot.

"..."

"Miss Yu, how is Yao'er?" Qin Yonghui stepped forward and asked. Then she saw Qin Xinyao putting on his shoes incorrectly. She hurried in, squatted in front of him, and changed his shoes herself.

"His condition is quite complex and requires a long period of treatment." Yu He ignored Qin Beiting and wrote a medicinal diet prescription. "Come here for medication and medicinal diets on time every day."

"Okay." Qin Yonghui had heard about the rules of Yu Xianyi's clinic and didn't have many doubts.

After seeing them off, Qin Beiting cornered Yu He in the examination room. "What did you two do in here? It took so long."

Yu He found his sour tone rather exasperating. Had this guy gotten addicted to being jealous lately?
